    The Mind of Christ

If we are to have the mind of Christ, do we know just what HIS mind is???? Let's see if we can just post an example that shows and example of Christ's mind mind anywhere in the NT by Christ's actions or what He says, then please include a brief description of your understanding of it. But please, let's keep the explaining down to a minimum and let the verse or verses speak for themselves so that we and our readers may all learn.

    I'll start.

He loved His Father so much that He wanted to glorify Him in whatever way was necessary.

John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

Hebrews 10:7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—In the volume of the book it is written of Me—To do Your will, O God.

John 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

John 8:28 Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.

Papa first...nothing of self. This was/is Christ's mind.

    Re: The Mind of Christ

So, if we have the mind of Christ, which is as you said "Papa First, nothing of self", then if we simply do what God wants us to do, we can say that we are loving others as Christ loved us. It was because of Christ's passion and love for the Father that He was able to love us the way that He did. He was not about Himself, instead He was here to do that Father's will and nothing for himself, only the Father's desire was to be done through Christ. And the Father's will was to reveal Himself to the world, teach us how to live and trust Him, and above all, to redeem us and bring us back to His side. So Christ loved us THROUGH the Father's DOING the Father's WILL and Christ gave Himself for us because that is what the Father wanted!

That's the mind of Christ, we are to have that same mind, to be about nothing but our Father's will. Oh that we would reach that point to where we no longer matter, but instead only our Father's will being done through us so that He may be glorified THROUGH us!

Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
