When they say a bible study, what you actually do is study the watchtower literature which has questions related to what you have just read.
This is how you end up relying on the Watchtower for answers to all questions spiritual. Their bible has even been changed in places to conform to their doctrine.

Hello all an thankyou for all of you replys .
My talks with my friend so far have had no real results . I am sadden that Joe can not see the manipulation of the Watchtower . I am not sure how to proceed . I am convinced that besides the false teaching he receives . Joe is also manipulated in a way as to build up his eago so that pride steps in an prevents him from admitting he is wrong . I have noticed this most when the Watchtower organization questioned . Iam not sure if it is good apologetics or psychology I should use to reach my friend . I know ultimately that it is The Holyspirit who wil reach or not reach Joe . It is just hard to talk an pray an see maybe a glimmer of realization then watch it get swallowed up by what looks like pride . I would apreciate any help brothers an sisters .

Pray for Joe. Don't do this in your own strength. You will just spin your wheels. Focus on Jesus and your relationship with Him. Guaranteed Joe doesn't know the risen Christ personally. Introduce Joe to the risen Savior instead of brilliant doctrine. God is in your corner. He knows how to save people. Let Him overcome the deception and the powers that hold Joe captive. Never evangelize in your own strength. That never works. People still have to be born again by the power of God's Spirit. Including Joe.
    Even so, come Lord Jesus!

I have a co-worker who is a JW and a few years ago we met for coffee a couple of times. I tried to get him to question the Watchtower's theology rather then scripture. He was getting married and I suggested meeting a third time after the big day and subsequent honeymoon. As he was keen to meet up the first couple of times I thought we would...we haven't. They are very reticent to speak to you if they think they will be questioned heavily.

    Bill,

It's really hard for someone to admit they have been duped, that their core beliefs are wrong. It may be pride, it may be fear. Imagine having to take out the thing that has made you feel accepted and cared about, be willing to examine it closely and maybe, just maybe find that it was all wrong.

Keep praying for Joe. We all will and know that you have planted seeds. It may be someone else who waters but let's count on God for the harvest, yes?

Be blessed Bill and thank you for caring for this man.

    Thank-you for the reply MyRock
An you are correct saying that many in the watchtower society will shy away if questioned heavily .
I learned that the best way is to ask questions that lead to them asking questions of themselves. An their beliefs .
This dose not garentee results but it tends not to scare away those who you are trying to reach with God's word .
We do need to rember one thing though like others have said it is the Holy Spirit who saves an not our efforts .

That is true Bill. They are very adept in "answering" questions about the trinity etc but they they never question anything they are told. So when you ask them to think about the organisation they cannot deal with it.

A friend who used to be a JW told me that their conversion has to be entirely by Divine revelation. You may help by quoting 'blood' Scriptures - but I have found the most beneficial is to completely rely on the Holy Spirit to direct you and only say what He is saying - which may be to point out that they are working for their Salvation, whereas I receive Salvation by faith, and that James says that whatever is not of faith is Sin.

Praying that you will accept His Guidance and that your ministry will be fruitful . . .

    Bill -

You and Joe have been on my mind quite a bit the last couple of days.

When you talk with him again, if the subject comes up, please let him know that God is no respecter of people - in other words, one person isn't more important to God than another.

For some reason I think that might matter.
