    Re: Who was Jesus

And if Scripture is to be believed the "This generation" you reference as the generation of Jesus only, then Jesus and the apostles would not have been giving them signs throughout the Gospels.

    You're contradicting yourself.

Jesus and the apostles gave signs to the generation that no signs would be given to?

    Blessings to you both.
The issue I am seeing isn't about signs and wonders but I am willing to stop the discussion if that is what you are seeing.

The thread got derailed by my comments and the OP is long gone. I will leave off with this:

Jesus was God in the flesh. How this occurred and the details concerning it are mysterious. In no way do I think I know all there is to know about it. I am just presenting my perspective and the scriptural justification for it.

1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

The only thing without controversy here is that this is a mystery. I think we can all agree on that.
Lord, one thing I ask...use me for your glory.

And you haven't gone off topic.

As I stated in the OP, Scripture is the Mind of Christ. If you reference Scripture, which you have, and the discussion is "Who is Jesus" how can you be off topic?

As for who Jesus is? I think we're in full agreement.

The niggley little things just make us individuals.

Would it be fair to the OP to ask in this manner? How was Jesus of Nazareth the Christ brought forth by the virgin Mary the Son of God being the Christ was also the seed of David and Abraham?

I ask that in the context of this scripture; Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together.
Is the Christ truly an heir of God? Just what did he Jesus the Christ inherit or shall inherit if still only an heir, from God.
Or even; Gal. 3:19 Wherefore then [serveth] the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; [and it was] ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Why would there be a promise made for God? 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. Was the promise made for God the Son or was it made for the Son of God?

Does God inherit from God? Would a son inherit from a father?

Does scripture not teach that Jesus the Christ the Son of the Living God was, conceived (begotten) by God?
Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived (Greek γεννηθὲν,) in her is of the Holy Ghost. KJV
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].

Can Jesus the Christ the Son of God be understood in all scriptures in the context of the following verses?

Hebrews 7:9,10 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

Such as in: John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.Or John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Of course this would not be a trinitarian concept.

    Re: Who was Jesus

    Yes of course.

Also consider that Mary was descended from Nathan, another son of David. Since it's agreed that Jesus is an adopted son of Joseph, then according to Paul,
    Romans 1:3
concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh,

According to the flesh, which would be Mary, which would go hand in hand with calling Jesus from the " seed " of David.

So, we have the adopted father of Jesus, Joseph, descended from Solomon, the son of David.

And we have Mary according to the flesh and of the seed, descended from Nathan, the son of David.

Son of God, descended from the ssed of David.

I'm confused by your post. Are you saying that Jesus is not God the Son but only the son of God?

What is the difference between the Son of God and God the Son.

The Son of God is found 44 times in scripture and God the Son is not found in scripture KJV. Did not check any others.

    Re: Who was Jesus

Jesus often referred to Himself as the "Son of man" - - yet we KNOW the Holy Spirit was His "father".

There is a HUGE difference between Son of God and God the Son. I think you are well aware of that distinction.

Why do you think he did that? If the Holy Spirit is his Father who was God the Father, Father of?

What does it mean in Acts 2:33 where it is stated that Jesus received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit?

BTW the distinction is one is found in scripture. Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God.

No doubt. He is also Thomas' Lord and God. He is also the great I AM according to His own words.

    Re: Who was Jesus

    Luke 1:

26*Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, 27*to a virgin [r]engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the [s]descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was [t]Mary. 28*And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, [u]favored one! The Lord [v]is with you.” 29*But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was. 30*The angel said to her, “ Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. 31*And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. 32*He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; 33* and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.” 34*Mary said to the angel, “How [w]can this be, since I [x]am a virgin?” 35*The angel answered and said to her, “ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the [y]holy Child shall be called the Son of God. 36*And behold, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and [z]she who was called barren is now in her sixth month. 37*For [aa] nothing will be impossible with God.” 38*And Mary said, “Behold, the [ab]bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Verse 35 foretells pretty much everything you're questioning.

If the Holy Spirit and the Holy One colaborated in Mary's conception, then who is this Jesus that declares that He and the Father are One, and who also declares Himself to be I AM?

How did Jesus "see" Nathanael and know about him and what he would do?

There is a misconception on the board. The default position of posters seems to be that "fully God" means that Jesus was God in a human suit. Problem: To to put on human flesh (incarnate) is to relinquish one of the attributes we ascribe to God...namely his omnipresence. In this If Jesus had a body, he could not be present on earth and at the same time on Alpha Centauri, or every star system in the Andromeda Galaxy, and the hundreds of billions of galaxies beyond.

    John 1:48
Nathanael *said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

Sorta like two places at the same time?
