Thread: hello

    hello

    new

my name is ken. i have for several months been obsessed with the book of job. I stumbled on a discussion of the book through a google search and joined this site for the opportunity to vent over some of the commentary I have been reading, not particularly this site, but everywhere.
given the statements of God within the book regards Job coming and going. except for Jesus, nobody ever gets such a ringing endorsement from God, so to argue that Job deserved or needed the trials that he suffered just doesn't seem right.
I saw after I signed up the tread has been inactive for a while. Perhaps someone reading this will care to pursue a discussion.

    Hi webguy,

Do you relate to Job at all, and if so, what did your experience teach you?

If not, what seems so mysterious about God allowing Satan to touch his life?

relate to Job? my mother died, then my father-in-law, my dad a few years ago. an old memory turned me to the book of job.

experience teach me? a lot, I started from the point of view that the words of Job are endorsed by God. the agenda of Satan's challenge was a ploy, God used Satan's accusation to lay a problem before Job. the problem being: life is not fair, God is fair. God is omnipotent, resolve the conflict.

It is thru the words of Job that God lays out his plan to reconcile himself with a fallen world. The book has layers upon layers of meaning. I started my study just trying to refine the questions addressed. the answers that came to me involuntary, I tried to avoid them.

God allow the satan to touch Job? i think i answered that. The satan thought he was the clever one, manipulating God to trip him up. But God had a purpose in even the accusations of the satan.

Yeah.. welcome, and thanks for sharing some with us. I would like to hear how you connect Job with Gods plan of recocilliation. It could either be a reminder for me, or something new, as I havent looked at the book of Job recently...I did sense a glimpse of Job in Psalm 38 and 39, but I need to study those two more.
