    Flesh eating disease

We are going to be seeing a steady increase in these cases. There is not a doctor, nurse, pathologist or scientist who is not aware that it is not a matter of IF this might become epidemic, but of just WHEN. We have watched this bacteria grow more and more resistant to antibiotics and it is all over your body. You are swarming with it. It is so important to disinfect and cover even scratches on our bodies because it enters through sometimes seemingly harmless wounds.

That's certainly disturbing. It's good to get into the habit of washing any cuts with soap and water, and putting something like Bacitracin on it.

Here is a story today about the Plague too. While we don't see many cases of it any given year in the U.S., it mutates as well and could become an increasing problem through mutations that protect the weak spots we have found with antibiotics.

The limited research available on these bacteria show that a person who has a normal immune system and has the proper balance of probiotic organism in their digestive tract are for all practical purposes immune to the bacteria.

    Well...not exactly...
Your immune system is compromised at various times for various reasons - even in "healthy" people.
Even not eating for most of a day can have an adverse effect on your immune system briefly. Stress can do it. Not getting enough sleep in a night - even one night - can do it.
Granted, the body, with a scratch, can normally fight it off, but if conditions line up just right, say....after a heavy workout, and you get the scratch then, your body is briefly compromised as to it's immunity.
So...it isn't that simple. Because it happens even in very young, healthy, vibrant people.
I am fairly healthy and I got staph from having a mole removed. I wasn't sick at the time or on any meds that might have lowered the functioning of my immune system. Just having the wound did it. (And a relatively small wound at that.)
I have wondered about something else too. I have had to take antibiotics at various times in my life, and never a problem, but a few years after contracting staph, I needed antibiotics for dental surgery and suddenly, I was allergic to penicillin. Almost as if my bodies immune system decided that penicillin was part of the problem because it was in my system at the same time as the staph, and so marked the penicillin as an invader along with the staph...because an allergic reaction IS your bodies immune system fighting off an invader. Interesting...

My brother got something like this in his leg, almost killed him. They had to dig out a large portion of dead tissue in his upper thigh, and now he is on pain med all the time and the leg is almost useless because of all the nerves and tissue destroyed. All he did was get a little scratch on his lower leg and weeks later it started with a cyst like thing in his upper leg along with fever, chills.. Very strange stuff.
He smokes and is overweight to some extent, but if that even matters I don't know when it comes to bacteria.

Anything that lowers immunity can matter when it comes to bacteria. Smoking is one of those things. Being overweight...not sure.
