John Wayne is dead and the cavalry ain't coming.....

If the morning comes and we find ourselves alive, then God has a job for us to do before our heads hit the pillow tonight.

Not a job for the President....nor for the preacher....nor for the Sunday School teacher....nor for our spouses or significant others.....nor for our heroes and heroines....nor for the people for whom we often shirk our duties upon....

....but a serious and personal task that He created just for us....unique to us....because He loves us. It could be as small as making eye contact and smiling at someone who needs human interaction or it could be as big as laying down your life for a friend – in whatever way you interpret that.

Let's get off our spiritual cans today. Let’s make today count for something righteous.

John Wayne is dead and the cavalry ain’t coming to rescue us.......they never were.

"You were saved by faith in God, who - in His grace - treats us much better than we deserve. This is God’s gift to you, and not anything
you have done on your own. It isn’t something you have earned, so there is nothing you can brag about. God planned for us to do good things
and to live as he has always wanted us to live. That’s why he sent Christ to make us what we are."
    - Ephesians 2:8-10

Thanks, sister. I had a much older woman who said to a group of ladies one time, "You know, there are too many Christians just sitting around and waiting for someone to do all the work for them and to tell them what to do. Well, you know, John Wayne is dead and the cavalry ain't coming!"

I laughed out loud when she said it and I've NEVER forgotten it.

There are definately leader and follower type of personalities, but that ought never matter when it comes to following God, living life and making use of the opportunities He gives each one of us. He HAS perfectly suited each individual person to His plans. No one is left without something to offer.
He gives increase to all of His works through us.
    Peace to You!

For many years I have realized our main mission field is the people all around us! The ones in our ordinary, everyday life every day.

The measure of life after all is not its duration....but its donation. Our good Lord can use each of us, no matter how lowly in life we are.
    My favorite scripture: Malachi 3:16

"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name!" (Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)
