    Thank you for having me

Hello all. My name is Angel and I am a Buddhist. I am familiar with the Bible and the teachings of Jesus and respect Him and those who follow Him. Admittedly, I struggle a bit with respecting those who profess with the lips to follow Him but whose actions do not match - but this is the same struggle I have with people of any faith. I do have specific questions from my readings of the Bible and I look forward to asking them in the Christian Answer forum and reading your responses.

Thank you for the privilege of posting here despite the difference in our beliefs.

Hello Angel, and welcome to BibleForums!

Yes, we often fall short of the spiritual mark we strive for, but that's because we're fallible human beings. But I assure you the God we Christians serve is the Almighty Creator, and one day we will all stand before Him to give an account. That's why it's supremely important to know and understand that we must not leave this earthly existence having neglected His offer of Salvation through Jesus.

You'll find a number of people here who will not only try to answer any question you have about our God and His Christ, but who genuinely care about you as a person. So, settle in, get familiar with the board, and fire away with any question you might have. Again, we're glad to have you here.

When we stand before the Judgment Seat, we will have retained only two things from our earthly life: what God gave us, and what we did with what He gave us.

Wecome. As I understand it, the main difference with Buddha and Jesus, besides Jesus defeating death, was that Jesus warned us about the devil more than anyone ever. Ol' Buddha never even thought about Satan.

I have the same struggle. It is a shame, there are so many 'hearers' but not as many 'doers' of the Word. We welcome any questions you have. Again, welcome, and may God bless you.

Welcome home, Angel! Christ indeed has something in store for you. It's good that you already know Him, but it's even better now that you are here. My personal life in Jesus simply enables me; He set me free. No one in this world can offer true peace as He can. I cannot put my love for Christ in words, as it's too deep and wide to enclose in words; however, what I can say is this: When you begin to know Him by accepting His free gift, you will know what I am talking about. 8 months ago, I was, as most people would consider, a 'superficial Christian'. But after giving my life to Him, I discovered that life here on Earth is so much better, if not the best, when you're with Him. I have Him all to thank, but I also thank people in this forum for helping me. Now, I get to help others too! Isn't that cool!?

God bless you, Angel. God bless us all!

I said what I was thinking so poorly; please accept my apologies for that. I was refering to those for whom no effort is put forth to follow the tenets they claim to hold dear. For instance, people of my own faith who look forward to hunting season every year or those of yours who use abortion as a form of birth control. We are all far from perfect and fall short in our efforts - as Romans 3:23 points out - but we can try.

Oh, I didn't think you were being critical or judgmental. I was actually conceding the fact that most of us do in fall far short of where we would like to be--because of our fallible human nature. I would offer also that any professing Christian who supports things like abortion is not representative of the Christian faith. They may be Christian in name, but their actual final estate will be determined by God Himself, based on their spiritual state. True Christians exemplify the heart and teachings of Jesus, and you can believe Jesus would not have supported the murder of the unborn.

Re: Thank you for having me

I've read some of the other introductions and find that mine has been somewhat remiss. So here's a bit more on Angel:

I'm a 47 year old married man. My wife Michelle and I have two daughters and three grandchildren, a dog and a cat. We are Native Americans and we live on my wife's reservation in Washington state. I have degrees in math and physics and my wife is currently pursuing her degree in business management. I am a published author and am currently working on two writing projects - both spiritual in nature.

Religion and spirituality have always held great interest for me, beginning in early childhood, and I've never been able to comprehend why, on what is clearly the most important question facing each of us individually, the issue of how we shall spend eternity, so many people give such little time and reflection. Anyway, I have submitted a thread in the CA forum and am waiting for it to be approved, I look forward to hearing your responses and getting to know you all better.
