Obamacare ruling by the Supreme Court on thursday

    Roberts write the court's opinion.
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

There is alot of people where I work waiting for this.
Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.
    C.S. Lewis

You're gonna make a difference when you lay down your life, and in complete submission to God, choose to die with Him in service to other people.

Should be about 10am. Be here or be square!

Almost as exciting as waiting for the OJ Simpson verdict.

If Roberts is writing the Courts opinion, then it is pretty much a given they struck at least part of it down.

I think they'll strike the individual mandate. The whole bill? Hard to say.

If the individual mandate is struck down it very well could carry the whole bill with it.

Fenris, is this your conjecture, or do you have information?

    Thanks!

The whole thing needs to go down. It is a disaster.

Albeit the whole thing needs to go down I believe the whole thing will pass. The Arizona immigration bill mirrored prexisting federal law and most of it was struck down. I am going to take the contrarian stance here; never underestimate the stupidity of people or the evil of Liberals.

There has been one line of thought that if Obamacare is struck down that it would help Obama and hinder Romney. It is said that if it is struck down that many businesses that have been holding back on spending and hiring will open those doors if Obamacare is struck down. That is some ways would lower the unemployment numbers and make Obama look as if he has done something good. On a side note we are also seeing a major drop in gas prices. This is being caused by a very stagnant economy which has slowed almost to a stop. Even so, many will assume that it is something good that Obama has done. The word is also coming out today that the results of the Supreme Court yesterday will help Romney. This whole thing is so full of twists and turns it is difficult to understand whether one thing or another will help or hinder either candidate. One thing is sure. If Romney is elected it would surely simplify so much and improve the overall mood and economic situation of this country.

    It's Bush's fault.

I think they strike down the mandate, leave most of the rest of it intact. They may strike down the rule that requires insurance companies to cover people with pre-existing conditions, but this would be hugely unpopular, and could lead us back to the public option in the near future.

Maybe. I don't see either party having anything like the supermajority the Dems had in Congress when the bill first passed. This might lead to a more "balanced" bill i.e. one that both parties took a hand in writing. Hard to say.

Maybe. But if the Court says that private companies don't have to cover folks with pre-existing conditions, the only viable alternative would be to introduce a public plan that they can purchase. Otherwise, they have nowhere else to go. Hopefully, after the election, both sides will stop this election year politicking, and begin doing what they were elected to do, i.e., serving the American people.

Of course, I won't be holding my breath, though.
