Greetings!
I am new to this community and would like to introduce myself with a short story.
Now, I've worked for a coffee company for about 5 years of my life and the position of the job requires me to travel and relocate with the business in order to expand the product, etc. It was about 3.5 years ago that they moved me from my hometown (San Francisco, California) to take up a promotion that is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The first day I moved was a day that neither myself nor the members of my company would ever forget. About 2 hours after landing from the airport and hopping in a taxi, the cab driver got into an accident right off the freeway, and 6 people including myself were seriously injured. Not including the cab driver. Lucky him. Ironically, he was at fault because he decided to make an illegal left turn on a red light last minute while other vehicles were coming off the highway at 35 mph. He had explained to the sheriff, "I thought I could make it..." I was put out of work for 2 weeks to recover from whiplash, bruises, and a laceration (deep cut wound) on the right side of my brow bone nearest my eyes. Thank goodness I was not blind. Most of all, thank goodness I made out of the accident ALIVE!
Till that very day, I prayed, and since then I prayed everyday. It was tough for me because there I was miles away from home, taking on this new promotion with a company, away from my family, away from my friends, and I was all alone. I'm indepedent. Yes. Successful. Yes. Though, for 2 weeks out of work, dealing with my injuries, by myself - it was painful. The company originally granted me $5,0000 to start off on top of whatever amount in savings I have had for my move, half of that money went towards medical bills due to the accident, and that put me a little under. For a whole year, I sufferred: physically due to injuries, emotionally because I was homesick, and financially because I was almost tapped out of my savings. Of course, I filed a lawsuit to sue the cab driver and their cab company to compensate for my injuries and the medical bills. And as the months rolled on, the years went by, normal and unexplained events just happened (both good and bad), and through it all I stayed strong and strived. Most of my prayers, well, let's just say God works his miracles and he's answered all of them. In the last 3.5 years I've worked for this company, my injuries were healed, I got my compensation from the accident, my emotional well-being was at peace, and my finances went back up to were it should have been. I got 2 raises in the last year. Since the accident; my mind and my heart has changed too. The way I look and feel about life. It's different. It's a good kind of different. Let's just say, "Thank the Lord, the Angels, and thank God that I'm alive today."
And that is what brought me here. The main reason for my decision to join this community is to enhance my Bible studies, get biblical advice, learn, and seek fellow Christian members who can teach me, guide me, and offer some advice when needed as well. I hope to learn and make new friends on this board. Las Vegas has been a challenge for me. The lifestyle in Las Vegas is very different from the lifestyle in San Francisco. In Las Vegas, I would meet some people who enjoy most of their free time wrecklessly clubbing, partying, drinking till drunk, smoking and getting high, dating with multiple sex partners, etc. It's almost as if there are no laws, no values, or no morals put into place. There's too many acts of selfish sin going on and too many sinners sinning because they are selfish. I've on many occassions have dealt with some who've attemped to lure me into participating in devious activities. They wanted me to commit acts of sin with them and join them. I tell them, "No thank you." And I walk away. For them I pray. For myself, I strive my best to stay closet to God, stick to Christ's teachings, and stay pure. I need the support from fellow Christian members too. That is what lead me here. I would like to expand my Christian network. So far here in Las Vegas, I have only met 2 good Christians who've become my dearest friends over the last year. Yes. Only 2. Kinda sad.
Thank you for accepting me and welcoming me as apart of this community.
Bless you.
