    Hello my name is Jimmie

Hi my name is Jimmie and I am from Baltimore, MD. I have been wanting to join a forum for awhile and finally did. I wont give my full testimony but in short just about a year ago I was something probably close to an atheist. From around October to December I was in a depression but late in December I finally for the 1st time in my life cried out to God and I found out just how real he is. I found a great church in February and met Jesus then I was baptized in April. Best decision of my life is trusting in Christ.

Hello Jimmie, and welcome to Bibleforums.

When we stand before the Judgment Seat, we will have retained only two things from our earthly life: what God gave us, and what we did with what He gave us.

WOW! Just the little bit you told is a VERY powerful testimony, Jimmie!
I am glad you found us and I think you are going to be a real asset here
    and a help to many.

    Welcome, new friend!
    My favorite scripture: Malachi 3:16

"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name!" (Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)

    Hello brother,

Concerning guys like you and me who wise up, Jesus says this:

"I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance." (Luke 15:7)

It's always thrilling to hear a testimony such as yours, in which one is shown the reality of Jesus, and experiences the life-changing transformation only the New Birth can bring. Hold tight to Jesus no matter what, because the Devil hates it when we leave his kingdom of darkness and are born into the kingdom of God; and there will probably be some bumps along the way. Remember that the Lord doesn't promise a smooth journey--just a glorious destination. And I'm looking for to meeting you in person when we get there!

When we stand before the Judgment Seat, we will have retained only two things from our earthly life: what God gave us, and what we did with what He gave us.

Hello and welcome Jimmie. I am glad you have joined us. You have an amazing testimony. I couldn't help smiling when I read how God has changed your life! I believe Sojourner has given you some excellent advice. You have already done well to overcome some initial challenges. Enjoy it here and I hope to see you around.

As I had said in my original post I was pretty much a non believer probably as last as September. I wasnt raised to not believe but I wasnt raised in a Christian home and didnt know much infact never been in a church once. I read a page or 2 out of the bible and thought it was crap (I didnt understand it), my buddy wears a cross and was trying to get me to go to Church with and I basically told him get out of here with that and I wont ever go. I had some rough times in life so I kinda adopted a "what has god done for me attitude ?"

In late September over the course of a couple months all my circumstances came together and I thought life was awesome. My knee injury was healed so I could do Martial Arts agian, I found a new home, I was making much more money, grades where good at school and I was with a great that I thought was my soulmate. Things changed though and this girl wound up breaking my heart. She moved back home 1,000 miles ahead and had led me to believe that she was coming back after she helped her grandmother. Turned out she really went back to her ex BF and moved in with him not her Grandmother and I had to learn this from freinds just as I learned about the guy she cheated on me with a few weeks before she left. I was hurt and pretty badly.

I tried to party it up for a few weeks and try to hook up with other girls and things like that. That party continued for 3 straight months whether it was in a bar, someones house, my house, the streets or even outside of my own place of work. I had always drank alcohol from time to time and smoked pot from time to time but now I became dependant on it. I was smoking like I chimney all day and night even at work, I drank heavy just about every night and some pretty hard stuff anyone tried Moonshine ? Dont do it. I wasmiserable I felt like someone had ripped out both my heart and soul I was just an empty man. I was so stoned or drunk that id just leave in the middle of class because I was hungry or wanted to sleep and I never studied so my grades dropped big time, I was unproductive at work and then cut down to working 1 day a week thats how weak I was, I stopped doing Martial Arts and I spent thousands of dollars just by living this life of drinking and "partying".

On a late December night me and my buddy walked to a Bar (I couldnt drive anymore) but after a minute in there I asked him to go and he asked why and I said I just wasnt feeling it tonight. We went back to my house and smoked a couple of blunts. Freind passed out and so did my dog Johnny Cash but on this night I wasnt going down. Im sitting there thinking like what in the world am I doing with m life ? I finally asked myself that question and I feel like for the first time in months I seen a light and I had to follow it. I cried out to God for help and I heard a soft voice say "you know what you need to do" and I thought you know what ? I do know what to do. I sober up instantly im talking a half secound and I was fired up. I dragged my freind off his back and said "get the F up" and did this until he did and said now it is time to be a man agian.

Next day I walked around for an hour looking around and having this new feeling and I couldnt explain it. Next day a longtime aquantance who on this night we turned into best freinds named Tim called me up because he knew I wasnt doing very well. Tim and I shared every thing 2 men could possibly share over the phone and we moved each other both. Tim had been through all the same stuff and he began to read me some scripture and explain more of this God I hardly knew but felt touched by.

The New Year began with me still hurting at times but feeling much better and was determinded to improve myself. I started to just work hard agian, take care of myself better and began to read the Bible and fell in love with it. Tim is not one to force stuff on you but he and his GF mentioned their church a few times so I finally asked to join. I came to it February and felt so at home and the people where so amazing and the Pastor just had me amazed we related so well. At the end of the sermon I had decided to trust Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and I was told that I would feel a big change and I almost doubted but I trusted in it. It was amazing I had a first love like feeling agian, my energy was high, my confidence was high agian. Over a couple of months I stopped drinking, stopped smoking, my work ethic went back up and I was working full time agian, I was back in shape, built my savings up agian etc. Most importantly though it all helped me get over the situation with my EX and I was healed. There where attacks but I kept strong and trusted in the Lord to help me overcome everytime.

I was Baptized in April in front of mother, my niece, my best freinds and the entire church. I tried to go first in line because it was a few of us but I was told we want you last for a reason im like alright thats weird. Well the Pastor was so fired up hearing my testimony at a Coffee shop earlier in the week and wanted me to give it the Church. At first I was nervous but looking at all the happy faces it fired me up and I just spilled it all out to hundreds of people and the place went nuts. The energy was so strong and I seen tears of a few peoples faces and ive been hearing to this day still about how Beautiful it was. I trusted in Jesus and I will never go back because there in no other way for me.
    Hallelujah!

Jimmie, we have a forum called 'Testimonies' and I have moved your more detailed testimony there, where it will get more exposure. There are many who come to this forum to read the testimony of others. Would you like a title change, like 'Jimmie's Testimony'? Here is the link for all who want to see the rest of Jimmie's testimony...
