Hi Friends,
I'm teaching this year at Vacation Bible school and was in need of some advice.

During our small group, the kids are able to ask any questions that have about God. This one little girl raised her hand and said "If God created us, then who created God? How did He get here?"

I seriously sat there for about a minute, thinking to myself... and the only answer I could think of was... "He just was". He just is. He is our God.

I know it is very simple... but in that simple sentence, I believe that if we truly believe in who God says He is, He just was here. He was made, and He created the heavens and the earth. He was here when the earth was formless and empty.. He needed nothing to sustain, because in Him alone, He is sufficient enough.


Am I wrong?

Nope, you're exactly right. God just is. The Bible tells us many ways to express this thought by calling Him the Alpha and Omega, the I AM, etc., but it all boils down to the same thing: God just is.

I have had loads of adults asking the same question but their motive is often not so innocent, children have lively minds and they respect honesty, which is exactly what you gave them.
I'll be praying for you, they have an uncanny knack of putting us on the spot. Remember they respect honesty and will be happy with an " I don't know but I know a man who does"
You have a very important job there, may God give you everything you need.

Thank you for your replies. God has been so amazing to me with allowing me to fully rest on Him and allow Him to work through the lifes of these children.
