I have been taking a bible study course , and working that is the reason I have not been on the bible forum recently. But I have a question concern the book of matthew chapter 2 versus's 14-15 . does anyone know how long time-line wise did mary and joseph live in Eqypt and versus 15 , how old was jesus when GOD called him out of Eqypt and was jesus by any chance trained by the Eqyptian scholars . I have no idea, but if there is a way to find out when Herod died I think you will have a better idea.
There is nothing in the bible about Jesus receiving training from any un-godly source.

They say Herod the great died about 4 B.C. I figure Jesus was born about 6 or 5 B.C. I'd say he was probably in Egypt with Mary and Joseph about a year or two. I don't believe he was 'trained' by any Egyptian scholars. Remember Jesus was the Son of God. He really didn't need to be trained by anyone on earth. He existed before he was born:

Jesus said unto them, Verily,verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. (John 8:58)

I havent heard of any archeological evidence that tells us when Herod the Great had the children in Bethlehem murdered. Or of any records for the census persay. The only timeframe we have is that of the star and Herod saying kill all the boy babies up to 2yrs old. And like someone else pointed out the date of Herods death.

And no observant Jew would ever let their child be trained by Egyptians, let alone Jews put in charge over "The Son Of God."

My speculation is that Jesus wasnt there that long. (Jesus went with his family to Jerusalem when he was 12 years old. That only leaves 10 years in between. But I dont believe they were there that long).

It wasn't long because when Jesus was 12 years old His parents where living in Nazareth. This is the time when Jesus stayed at the temple and talked with the elders.
