Hi all,
I'm not big on introductions, but it seems appropriate in this setting...I'm a Texan - born in Canada. I even put the bumper sticker on my car (for those of you who know what I'm talking about...).
Theologically, I suppose some might classify me as "confused" but I would say I have Calvinistic tendencies with a few overt Wesleyan-Arminian leanings. Mix that with an upbringing that saw some influences of Pentecostalism and Canadian Baptist and things really get interesting...
Occupationally, I'm an engineer but in my leisure time (which really doesn't exist when you have a family and 3 young children) I do enjoy reading theology and history. Unfortunately, being a father means my attention span is often seriously hampered.
I used to post, years ago, but stopped when it seemed to be the time. I don't know if I'll ever pick it up to the degree I used to, but I do enjoy discussions about theology (a little bit of philosophy), the scriptures and things of a spiritual nature. Academically, I have no background for such things, but I have always tried to come to my conclusions on my own with basically the scriptures as the foundation. I enjoy reading others, but when it's all said and done, I'm the one who will be responsible before God for what I did with what I have.
Hopefully that's at least a half decent intro. I'm looking forward to starting (and hopefully continuing) some good discussions.
As an aside, my nickname is one I got putting the first name of an unusual innovator in the world of Electrical Engineering together with what is purported to be "...the answer to life, the universe and everything..." (and 42 was my favourite number LONG before I even knew that!)
