Hard to get dumber than this....

Jesus had the same problem with this type of person...so I guess they are still around.........but he did forgive them

Lets remember Jesus died for their sins too....

Of course, I'm sure this Isreali leader would never attempt to tear up a Koran in front of cameras.
    Have fun with it.

There's always someone like this in every religion. He does not represent a typical Jew any more than Karl Marx did.

Although he does have a point about the historical persecution of Jews in the name of Christ that exceeded even Muslim persecution of Jews in numbers and in terror - in historical context.. Some of it by our own church fathers.
Unhappy is he who mistakes the branch for the tree, the shadow for the substance.

I agree. He wouldn't have dared to tear up a Koran. He knows Muslims would have freaked out way worse than any Christian would have. And in "freaking out," some Muslims would put him on a list of people to be assasinated.

Government spokesman Mark Regev said, "We totally deplore this behavior and condemn it outright. This action stands in complete contrast to our values and our traditions. Israel is a tolerant society, but we have zero tolerance for this despicable and hateful act."
The Israeli government condemned the act. I do not know what more one can expect.

I've known some pastors who have done much worse destroying the NT in front of cameras.

When Obama apologized for the destruction of Qurans, it was awful - just dreadful. Is this different?

And as an FYI, I don't think there's anything further they could or should do. If the man who received the New Testament felt insulted, then he had the "right" to do whatever he wished with the article. He may be intolerant but that doesn't make the Israeli Government intolerant.

Hope that came out right/made sense.

Not too much more: at least they apologized. For something that was truly out of their control. We all have far left/right people in our governments.

I've known some pastors who have done much worse destroying the NT in front of cameras.
And in print, and on the radio. And by their actions as well. But that is another topic in it's entirity.

Out of the story, these 2 points are key:

An aide says Christian missionaries mailed the Christian scripture to Michael Ben-Ari of the ultranationalist National Union Party.

Itamar Ben-Gvir said Ben-Ari, an Orthodox Jew, was enraged to receive the book, in whose name he says millions of Jews were slaughtered. Ben-Ari tore it up, he said, then posed for photographs with the destroyed Bible.
I have a few thoughts on this:

    1) The Missionaries should not have sent an unsolicited copy of the NT to this man. If they wanted to open some sort of dialog, they went about it the incorrect way. Now he will be almost impossible to open any sort of a dialog with.

    2) I am sure Mr. Michael Ben-Ari felt this was a grievous insult: for us, I would imagine it would be akin to receiving a dead fish wrapped in old newsprint.

    3) Mr. Ben-Ari (did I do that correctly) made a mistake as well: instead of privately handling it, he posed for pictures with the torn copies. Now he may end up being vilified like our soldiers were when posing with destroyed copies of the Koran.

    4) The Israeli Government apologized: it should be the end of the story.

    My own opinions, of course.

Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.

Hey we've been down this road before. Living in a free society means that people are free to do foolish things. I do not think it benefits anyone to stir up trouble between Jews and Christians, especially now when religious Christians are Israel's only friend in the world. But as others have said, this shouldn't be viewed as the typical Israeli view either. The National Union Party has 4 seats in the 120 seat parliament. If every National Union voter agreed with this act, and we have no reason to assume that they do, that represents 3% of the Israeli voting public. 7% of Americans believe that Elvis is still alive; no one would say that this represents American society as a whole.

Yeah this was unwise. Oh well.

I know that. That's the reason I said in the very post you snipped and quoted:

I suggest to you that he is ALREADY on their list to be assasinated....no Koran burning required.

    Thanks for the reply.

It was my understanding from other sources (could be wrong) that all the Israeli (cabinet?) members received a copy; it was only this fellow who chose to respond so intolerantly and publicly.

2ndly, I don't think we should say or come to the invalid conclusion, "They should NOT have sent an unsolicited copy of NT", especially since Jesus clearly told us to preach the gospel to ALL, (that includes Jews) . Should we simply stop just because of the foolish hateful response (or fear of it) by this jewish fellow ?....Jesus himself said that persecution for the Word sake is an indication that the Father IS being glorified....He said " If they persecuted me, they WILL persecute you".
Evil responses don't neccesarily mean you have done something wrong; in the case of the gospel, it usually means you have done it just right...

"Blesssed are you when men shall persecute you and , say all manner of evil against you falsely for my name sake; rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven."

I was happy to hear however, that the other Jewish government leaders condemned this man's behavior....I think they also realized that the problem was that of Michael Ben-Ari and not that of the "missionaries".

Thanks you all for the wonderful responses on this topic.

1 out of 120? Nothing to get excited about.

Hehe Elvis. I like number-based arguments. Approved!
