Here's something to consider....
Matthew 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Good stuff, Saved. We may not live in a theocracy, but we have the right to support as candidates for elected office, those who share our view that God should be at the center of our society. Founding father John Jay thought so too. He was the first Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court, Governor of New York, a president of Congress, an author of the Federalist Papers, and a diplomat. A very zealous Christian, he had this to this about America's elected officials:
"Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation, to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."
He also believed the freedoms and privileges we enjoy in this country--and their very continuity, flowed directly from God; and he believed we as a nation should continually offer Him praise and thanksgiving:
"I recommend a general and public return of praise and thanksgiving to Him from whose goodness these blessings descend. The most effectual means of securing the continuance of our civil and religious liberties is always to remember with reverence and gratitude the source from which they flow."
Can you imagine a Supreme Court Justice or Governor of New York saying such things in this "wall of separation" society we live in today?
Thank you for this supportive reply. I was beginning to think it fell on deaf ears.![]()
