I just noticed that North Korean strongman Kim Jong Un has updated his Facebook relationship status from "It's Compricated" to "Honerymooning".

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. - John 8:36
I’ll pray that his change in status somehow improves his receptiveness to the Gospel and that God would be glorified in the tremendous impact his salvation would have to the entire world.
Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Soon he'll be bringing a new generation of crazy into the world.
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."
Jeremiah 31:9

All kidding aside, North Korea is one of the most repressive places in the world. Those people need freedom.
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

Agreed.
To watch the populace "mourn" Dear Leader was a real eye popper. How, oh how could anyone think that was real? But if they were caught not "crying" they were punished.
We have a member of our church who is Korean and I believe some of his (extended) family was caught on the wrong side. He was asked to pray for North Korea (well all of Korea) several months ago, which he did in Korean (we had a general gist of what he was saying based on an outline of what he intended to pray about). I am certain he diverged from the intended message a bit, but that was one of the most powerful prayers I may have ever heard, regardless of the language barrier.
It is a sad state of affairs. As I recall, North Korea used to have a massive population of Protestant Christians in the early to mid 1900's.
It is only the cynic who claims “to speak the truth” at all times and in all places to all men in the same way, but who, in fact, displays nothing but a lifeless image of the truth… He dons the halo of the fanatical devotee of truth who can make no allowance for human weaknesses; but, in fact, he is destroying the living truth between men. He wounds shame, desecrates mystery, breaks confidence, betrays the community in which he lives, and laughs arrogantly at the devastation he has wrought and at the human weakness which “cannot bear the truth”. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, in Ethics.
I'll believe it when I see it. Bashir Assad was also educated in the west, a "new generation" who would bring "reformist ideas". He turned out to be a petty thug just like his dad.
Human rights in North Korea. Just terrible.
