Thread: Prayers for dad

    Prayers for dad

My dad is going to have surgery finally on thursday. They came down this weekend to visit and today he was very weak. He couldn't even stand. me and my brohter were walking him into a restaurant and he could barely stand. He was bending down with his knees. I was behind him using my knee as a support for him to sit on so he didn't go on the floor. It was bad. We ended up getting takeout instead and now he's going to stay at my apartment till we leave wednesday to the cities for his operation. I dont dare take him out incase it happens again so I'm running out to get things for him. My brother will be at my place tomorrow when he's done working to sit with him whiel I'm at work in the afternoon. But hopefully this surgery will help with his balance issues, moods (he is very grumpy, has been cussing a lot lately and even as far as using the f word or Jesus name in vain- never seen him do that till now), and to be able to reason/think things through. The fluid is screwing things up so much for him. My mom told me today that if the surgery doesn't help, she doesn't know how she will be able to live with him when he's in his bad moods. So can you please pray that God's will be done and the surgery will go well? Hopefully this time it will happen, he's really needing it...

Edit: Maybe I should have just added this to my older post. I didn't even think of it. my apologies, if you want mods, you can move it to that thread if it makes it easier to keep track of the topics.

Praying for your parents, you and your brother at this difficult time . . . . that you all experience, and acknowledge, the Lord's Healing Love.

Praying for insight and wisdom and that your father will get whatever medical and/or alternative health helps he needs to be fine.
Please pray for "the least of these" in the Persecuted Church Prayer Forum at top.

Acts 21 Now they have been informed about you that you continually teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn back from and forsake Moses...Therefore do just what we tell you. With us are 4 men who have taken a vow upon themselves. Take these men and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses [for a temple offering],...Thus everybody will know that there is no truth in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself walk in observance of the Law of Moses.

He had the surgery and is doing fine. He has a couple incisions in his head, and one on his abdomen where the shunt drains. he's still having balance issues but that will take time to come back if it does. He cant' lift over ten pounds, drive and hopefully he remembers that when my mom goes back to work. He can't stand in front of a microwave, with the valves (they use magnets to adjust the flow without having to go in again to do so), which also means he can't have an mri or go through airport scanners. But we dont fly much anyways. Just the microwave is the issue and him to remember. He has a very short temper now and hopefully that will go too. He really snapped at me in the car on the way home for nothing. My brother kind of got after him about that. But its like he doesn't understand. He holds his hamburger in one hand, leans his fries on his lap and gets mad when the fries drop. Then proceeds to throw the hamburger box on the ground. He leaves things messy and won't clean it up, he just shrugs it off and has no problem and says someone will get it. No responsibility for anything. Nothing is his fault, he puts a front on when confronted and makes it look like he's the victim. He's not himself so I'm praying this will help. My mom wants him to try anger management classes to try to relearn how to manage his anger. So could you keep praying that God will open his heart to him and to help my dad? My mom is getting really stressed out over this and doens't know how she can handle it anymore. She's ready to put him in a nursing home if he keeps snapping at her though I think its outta frustration when she says that. She loves him, just can't handle him at times. I've seen him in those moments and I feel for her. But prayers for them would be great. Thank you.

Oh Sweetie. I'm already praying for him, and for you, your brother and your mom.

Just keep in mind that sometimes sickness causes depression and anxiety and even anger! Sickness and disease stinks, Sweetie. Try to be patient with him. And I'll keep on praying. I promise.

(Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)

Godslittleangel, how are things going with your dad? Your Mom? The whole family?

By the way, I'm still praying.

    Re: Prayers for dad

Thanks for the prayers and sorry for not getting to this earlier to respond. Been busy with the 2 jobs.

My parents are at home now and mom says dad is really happy to be home finally. He is walking better now, she feels more comfortable now having him home alone when she is working. He isn't stumbling around anymore. Which makes it better, he sleeps in the basement and I always worried about him on the stairs. She hasn't said anything about him being really moody now either and he hasn't seemed moody over the phone when I talked to him. So thats good. But it comes and goes. And he is watching his blood sugar now, sometimes my mom has to remind him about the insulin (he forgets that he has to watch it too when he snacks and even with the nibbles). Its a day by day recovery so we'll see how much comes back as time goes. And we need to get him to pick up his feet when he walks, he got into the habit of shuffling them along so now its to try to get him to pick them up. He walks even better doing it that way. But habits die hard when he's been walking that way for a period of time I guess. lol He has an appt once a month now for the next few months.

thanks again for the prayers. They mean a lot. Feels a lot better being on this side of the fence now, having the surgery done with. God was definately there with him and is with him now.

But we have another problem...I think the hotel we stayed in had bed bugs in it. But thats another topic probably lol

    Oh no! How horrible.

I know a person who is with the Health Dept. of our county. She said anything that gets hot in the dryer will kill bed bugs. it would be worth a try, to toss clothes and bedding in the dryer for 10 or 15 minutes. And I'll pray you can get rid of them easy and fast!

Do they have to be wet to go in the dryer or can they be dry?

    Re: Prayers for dad

I don't think it matters.........its the HEAT that she said kills the bedbugs.

She told me that when she buys new clothes, she always throws them into the dryer, because other countries have bedbugs all the time and carry them to the work place where the clothes we wear have bedbugs in hems and places we'd never think about. She even throws in underwear. (And since she told me that, I do the same thing.)

    Re: Prayers for dad

Oof da, never thought about that part but will do that form now on too. Will it shrink the cotton shirts? A majority of my tshirts are of mostly cotton? Or is that when its wet that shrinking is a problem?

I'm going to go into the urgent care place to get this checked out. I'm thinking its bed bugs but just to make sure. My brother and dad haven't had any bites whihc is weird and they were in the same hotel room. My dad stayed all nights but the one night he was in the hospital (they discharged him the next day) My brother had slept on the floor when my dad slept in our room the first night before surgery. My brother had huge itchy bumps on his arms, and neck area a few days into the stay but when he went to Urgent Care in the cities, the doctor said it wasn't a bug bite. Don't know what it was. We think it may have come from our comforter that he took off of our bed (me and my mom slept together, my dad had the bed to himself since he takes most of it up and they were full size beds) and had the top part on him instead of the bottom part. My mom noticed bumps on her sunday when we got home and I just found them yesterday morning when I woke up. They have gone down but I did notice a few new ones come up. So I'm going to get that checked out and do some laundry and heat drying too for the dry clothes. Maybe they were in just the bed that me and mom shared. You'd think they'd be running all over but maybe not. I'm praying that if it is bed bugs, that there aren't too many of them.
