Thread: The three questions of Paul.

  1. #1

    The three questions of Paul.

    Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Through sufferings he learned and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Galatians 3:1 YLT O thoughtless Galatians, who did bewitch you, not to obey the truth -- before whose eyes Jesus Christ was described before among you crucified?

It had been described to them the sufferings of Jesus and his learning obedience all the way unto death on the cross.

So Paul asked them in the next verse; Was it not by hearing of faith, Jesus learning through sufferings and becoming even obedient unto the death of the cross, crucified verse 1, by which you received the Spirit or did you receive the Spirit because of your works of the law?

Which brings the next question from Paul. Galatians YLT so thoughtless are ye! having begun in the Spirit, now in the flesh do ye end?

Begun in the Spirit. Having received the Spirit because Jesus learned through suffering and became obedient unto death even the death of the Cross, the faith of Christ; Now you want to go out on your own rather than like I said of myself: Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Sorry to say, I don't understand you. Do you have "grammer check" on your computor?
If you spoke like this to me in person, I would think you had a stroke. Are you OK?

I don't see anything wrong with what Percho wrote or in the way he wrote it. For some insight on what he means, you might consider the lyrics to the great Hymn "Jesus paid it all".

To Him all Power ascribe. To Him be all the Glory forever, amen.
1 John 1:7- But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

2 Corinthians 7:1- Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Well, I find it difficult to understand. We typically used conversational English in the forum, and this OP requires interpretation.

It is a little hard to understand I agree but your remark PJW for one who is without sin is a tad rude, and the 'are you Okay ?' does not negate your thoughtlessness.

Is this from G3:1 a synopsis - Jesus Christ was described before among you crucified -- of the other two verse from Heb. and Phil. --though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; & And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

The Galatians had been told about the suffering obedience of Jesus all the way to crucifixion. They had heard about that and had understood that it was because Jesus became obedient, which he learned through sufferings and died on the cross, they the Galatians had received the Spirit. And knowing that was how they received the Spirit and not through works of the Law, without thinking they want to continue on in the flesh instead of the Spirit which God had given them.

This should be a parallel thread with the one concerning Jesus having to go away in order for the Comforter to come. The Comforter came because Jesus through sufferings learned obedience unto death even the death of the cross. He went away in death. That is the faith of Jesus. Because of that the Comforter came to Paul, Christ in him, therefore Paul was able to say," I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

All were under the law, until Jesus died. The faith, that came
Jesus was raised from the dead. The grace of God.
We are no longer under the condemnation of the law. We are dead with Jesus.
We are now under grace which is in the living Jesus who has been raised from the dead by his Father God.
Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present [us] with you.
