An extremely heavy spiritual oppression hangs like a cloud over the beautiful island of Jamaica. At least, that has been my observation on both of my visits there. It is a shame, too, because the Jamaican people are some of the most beautifully friendly people I've met.

He was, until just recently, a member of the Nation of Islam. But he butted heads with the Black Muslims because the NOI is opposed to marijuana use.
In Jamaica, he has converted to Rastafarianism. They believe that former Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie II (Ras Tafari) was the incarnate son of God. The Rastafarian god is called Jah, and is represented by the marijuana plant.
I've always been a big Bob Marley fan. But Rastafarianism is pretty fruity.
