    OK its funny story time....

When I first went to see "Raiders of the Lost Ark" at the theater, I thought it was going to be a story about a guy looking for Noah's Ark! After 20 minutes or so I'm getting confused. My date, bless her heart, explained it to me; fortunately, she was Jewish.

As for this guy, Ron Wyatt, I am skeptical. Wyatt apparently claims to have discovered most any ancient Biblical relic you can think of. Not only Noah's Ark, but Sodom and Gomorrah, the Tower of Babel, where the Hebrews crossed the Red Sea, Mt. Sinai, artifacts from Solomon's temple, and the site of the Crucifixion of Jesus.

Discovering aluminum and titanium rivets and braces seems anachronistic too, coming from the Bronze age.

Though a lot of artifacts are still missing and may never be found, as far as I know there hasn't been any archeological discovery that contradicts the Bible.

When the public mind becomes vitiated and corrupt, laws are a nullity and constitutions are waste paper.” – Daniel Webster, 4th of July, 1800, Oration at Hanover, N.H.

Rome sacked the second temple in Jerusalem, in the year 70. The ark was not present at that time. The Babylonians destroyed the first temple in 586BC; whether they got the ark or not is the subject of much discussion...
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

We know the Romans carried away the Menorah, there's a carving of it on the Arch of Titus. Did they melt it down for the gold? Was it carried away by one of the many peoples that sacked Rome? Is it still in the Vatican? Who knows!

Raiders was based on the theory that when the Jews fled to Egypt ahead of the Babylonian forces they took the Ark of the Covenant with them.

The movie script has it thus:
An Egyptian Pharaoh, Shishak, invaded Jerusalem about 980 BC, and may have taken the Ark to the city of Tanis and hidden it in a secret chamber called the Well of Souls.
Wikipedia has an entry on the topic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ark_of_...rent_locations
