In a "believing home," that is true. In an unbelieving home, whoever is the believer should assume the task of living the way God leads and, one day, it may become a believing home.

The Bible never says that husbands/fathers are to be prophets, priests, and kings of their homes. Nor does the Bible imply it.

Do some people interpret his role that way? Yes. In the husband and wife modeling Christ and the church, some say that the husband/father should be prophet, priest, and king as Jesus was.

There are some problems with that.

Why do wives need another prophet, priest, and king other than Jesus? And if the husbands serve in this role, then who serves as the "extra" prophet, priest, and king over the husbands? Why does a husband have to revert to before grace and fulfill obligations of the Old Testament that Jesus, by His testimony fulfilled. How can a husband fill a role that only God, through His Son, could fill?

When Jesus spoke with the woman at the well, He didn't tell her that she need a man to mediate between her a God.

And 1 Timothy 2:5 says that there is only one mediator between humanity and God and that is Jesus.

It seems to me that both in Genesis, 1 Corinthians, and Ephesians, the husband is tasked to lead the household. One can think that it means to lead in all things and that is what most people do. Sadly, we don't. Some of us have been very fortunate (not really, God knows what we needed all along) in that some of us have great Christian wives who prayed for us for a long time.

I am thankful for that. Now, however, I am the one in the family who now leads in biblical studies by the very nature of who I am. My wife is not the type to do that.

I do agree that God declared ALL of us to be a royal priesthood, not just men. I know that there are those who will argue that point, but that is OK.

I think it has to do with Paul's instruction "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." [Rom 12:1]

Under the Mosaic dispensatiion, this could only be carried out by the Aaronic priesthood, which was all male. Women can be their own priestess in the new covenant, because the old priesthood is done away in Christ, and in Christ there is no longer male and female. I think your point is well spoken.

I only mean that the husband and father is the head of the household so should he not be the spiritual leader as well, not saying that he is supposed to replace Jesus or we are supposed to worship him of coarse i'm not saying that, nor am I saying that I can't get to Jesus without my husband, or I can't take the spiritual leader role in the home with our children in praying, bible study, etc.(I'm doing that now because my husband is an unbeliever) i'm just saying that the husband/father should lead , he should be the priest in that he intercedes in prayer on behalf of our children, he should be a prophet in that he lays hands on our children and blesses them and speaks blessing over them. Isn't that in the bible?

It is desirable. If taken back to the Old Testament, the men were expected to lead their families in that way. It is not difficult to assume that the husband should do the same now. It would be wonderful if all husbands did, but that is not the case. All of us, male and female, have the same charge. Our most important task is to bring up the children to love and obey God. That way, we will save our children and their children.
