Is prayer considered works?

Works are just the things we do every day ...
Even so, come Lord Jesus!
I would certainly say so. Work is accomplished when we pray.
2 Corinthians 1:11: "...as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favour granted us in answer to the prayers of many."
Romans 12:12 - rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;
Romans 15:30: "I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me."
Colossians 1:9: "...for this reason since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you..."
Colossians 4:12: "Epaphras...is always wrestling in prayer for you that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured."
1 Thessalonians 1:2-3: "We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in all our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ."
James 5:16 - ...The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
It is an action. It requires some amount of effort.
This word "works" is highly abused and selectively used, however.
Yes prayer is a work and so is love.
Amen! Since Jesus is to reward us according to our works, how could He not consider our lifetime of fervant prayers and love we have shown for others? I don't see these actions which require effort on our part detached from good works. Ephesians 2:10 - For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Praying and loving others would certainly be included.
