Since the beginning of time,
A countless scores of people
Have come and gone
And among the innumerable host
I am just another one
To look upon the sun
Unto the light of day
And like all the rest will surely pass away
Vanity of vanities, says the preacher!
However, this short pilgrimage of ours
Makes one wonder
Is there a purpose, a meaning to life
Is there an answer?
Thus in their quest, many will go
Down life's pathways in search of silver and gold
Fill their minds with the fancy of exotic places
To be one of the elite among the races
Wearing the crown of treasures and pleasures
In the process losing their souls
Others will set their sight beyond the sky
All the while watching the world pass on by
And with wings set their spirits to fly
Unto the realm ethereal, where they set sail
Forever in search of the imaginary grail
And oh, let us not forget the bizarre
That can't see things as they really are
But follow an unknown star
To them black is white and blue is red
Life without logic is the motto
Of those that are out of their head
And then there are those,
The saviors of the poor lost souls
With their charming personas
And glorified,fat faces that glow
The ones that the dumb and foolish follow
Those that take God for a fool,
The know it alls, that claim to know
That think to have unveiled and seen
The mystery of heaven and earth
And for worldly prestige and gain
Reveal what it means
Thus they paint a pretty picture
Of truth that saves
And all go headlong knowing nothing
Into the grave!
Seems like everyone is looking for the answer
In the wrong direction
And close their eyes to the essential question,
Going through life in a semi comatose state
Inwardly non existent, unconscious, unaware;
Can you fathom this
Will get you nowhere!
Vanity of vanities, says the preacher
Having to die, without ever truly living
Sure is vexation and vanity!
And God is in heaven
And you are here on earth
Human, of mortal birth
And in between there is infinite distance
So be cautious, all you know it alls
With what you do or say
For you will answer to this one day
Don't make up stories,
Or make false promises, beware!
For no deviations, shortcuts, or delusions
Will bridge the gap or take you there
But in truth to discover
That there is a very long road up ahead
Where many trials, one will encounter
And challenges, and mysteries, and wonders
And endless possibilities, and awesome opportunities
All these, before you await
There will be times of happiness and joy
And there will be times of sorrow and dread
We are not gods, above our reality,
But this, this is our, a human being's fate
Through the challenges you face
And the choices that you make
You become, what you are
And life shapes into what will be
Something viable and living
Or something in decay and dying
So choose, choose wisely my friend
Either you enter into life
Or fade into darkness in the end
