Can you please Pray For Me about my Christian life?

    Hello,

I have not been a Christian for very long, but I want to post a prayer request about helping me look to Jesus for my assurance. Someone on here, a brother encouraged me to do this. There's been a few things I have been very burdened with and I will share them now. Here we go...

    1) The first thing is something I had been dealing with the last few days. It's about chastisement. I was concerned over my salvation because maybe God wasn't disciplining me when I sinned because of what I was expecting to happen to me and discerning that chastisement , so the first thing I need prayer about is to help me to discern when this happens in my walk.

    2) The second thing was something I used to have issues with too. It was about when I looked at other people's testimonies of salvation and how broken and burdened they felt in conviction and I doubted if I was saved because I didn't think my experience went like that or was as 'dramatic' or did I feel a certain way and I was constantly looking back to one moment of experience to see if I had salvation or if my conversion "happened the right way" only to be disappointed but I realize that I cannot focus on a past experience but a present reality I have a relationship with Jesus now.

Anyway, I have some info to think about when it comes to those issues, but these things have at times really left me paralyzed and helpless in my walk with God because I cannot live for him if I did not have the assurance I need. I want to "abide in the vine" (Jesus) and want him to help me to overcome sin in my life and deal with all of these problems I have been facing. So my prayer request is to help me look to Jesus the author and finisher of faith for growth and assurance...thanks.

    Col 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

My friend, I will help you pray. I promise.

But rest assured that God indeed knows our heart and out motives and our intents. He knows you love him and that your heart's desire is to serve him. My testimony is not as 'dramatic' as that of some others either. I was saved at age 10. I certainly did not know nearly as much then as I do now! What child does at that age? But I can testify that over these many years, I can look back and say with all my heart...Christ Jesus was there with me every step of the way!

Much learning comes with 'life experiences' and years of time. Just stay faithful. KNOW that he is there. guiding, protecting, leading, even when you don't know it! I see in you a heart that desires to follow Christ. I'm certain if I see that in you (since I don't know you in real life) then most certainly...he see's that in you too. He really does.

Peace to you, my friend! (And I do promise to help you pray!)

    My favorite scripture: Malachi 3:16

"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name!" (Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)

I will be praying for and with you too Walley10.

I agree with Diggindeeper, none of us know you very well yet but those who have read your thoughts shared here on these forums all agree that they see in you an earnest heart seeking and following the Lord Jesus and all agree that you are headed to be a very strong Christian (much stronger than many of us here)

Also like Diggindeeper has said: Jesus Christ knows you much better and deeper than we all know you and even know ourselves, so this assures me that He knows even better than us that you have an earnest heart in following Him and I am also assured that He is going to use you in mighty and powerful ways brother, just you quietly wait and see....
I can also see by your communication here that you have read His word a lot too, He will bless that Walley10, just quietly wait and see, friend !

God has mercy on all of us, the good, the bad and the ugly. But, He has much, much more for those who trust in Him and His word, He richly blesses those with pure earnest hearts that are seeking Him and His will for them, like you have been doing Walley10.
    God bless you.

I seem to sometimes expect sanctification to happen instantly even though many say it's a lifelong process, maybe I need to be more patient about that.

Thanks...I wonder what effect does a experience of conversion of testimony have in assurance or our growth?
I have asked many questions about my experience too. I remember I was watching a bunch of gospel presentations on youtube or videos about hell because I remember trying to get the certain feeling I wanted to be saved. I was crying because I was wondering if I was convicted of my sins, so that I could be saved and expecting to feel a certain measure of dread over my sin or conviction to be saved and maybe I wasn't letting God just freely deal with me over this and I wasn't sure what to do. Eventually...I decided to say "God be merciful to me a sinner wash my sins away in Jesus blood" but sometimes these concerns about my past experience come back too..

Walley to the Lord we are all individuals. Conversion is not a case of 'one conversion experience fits all', your was tailored for you personally. Experience of sanctification is life-long. Hopefully we all continue to grow in the Lord until the moment we leave this life. It's not a matter of looking at how far you have to go, but of how far you have come on the journey. Our Lord will ensure you have the experiences that are the right ones to encourage you to take the next step.

Praying that you rest in His Love and accept His way for you . . .
