    Re: Tools For Evangilsm

    So I am driving around town last week and I keep seeing these two 20 year old Mormons. Pounding the pavement all day. I keep seeing the same guys all day. So I figure God wanted me to talk to them. So, sure at 8:30 pm my wife and I go out to see some friends at their cottage. Low and behold who is standing at my corner, 6 feet from my car window?

    Yup.

    So I invite them to talk sometime. They came tonight for an hour. Two 19 year olds. Nice kids! Door to door for Christ (sort of ) how many 19 years are hitting the streets with the real truth???

    Any way,

    I opened in prayer. ( asking the spirit for open eyes to true truth )
    Then we established that truth truth exists ( pop can example)
    I established the law of non-contradiction.
    Then I showed them how their beleif system is different from ours. Lots of easy examples. So both our beleif systems cannot be simultaneously true, as they say different things so either one is wrong or we both are. They saw the logic.

    Then we chatted about that my God must be incompetent ( if they have the truth ) as if he can't preserve the bible ( when he says that he can) he's not very good, therefore not needing to be followed. But since the evidence shows that the Bible is accurate , I don't need their "other gospel" ( Their "The restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ". ) I don't think anyone had ever put this to them like this before. Lol.

    Then we discussed some of their crazy beliefs ( God lives near/on the star Kolob, magic underwear) they seemed embarrassed at points. (Learn their history. ) They did not know allot of what they actually beleive.

    Then they got the real GOSPEL (they did not know it when asked ) presented with some metaphors.

    Don't know of the impact. ( yet ?) Apollo waters... ( 1 Cor 3 )

    It was a great visit nobody got mad or offended.

    I don't think they realized that God brought them to hear the truth. But what such nice boys and on fire for God, amazing that so many are lost. When asked how to get to heaven, they were speechless. Weird.

    Just thought I would pass this on if it may help others. Next time I am going to try something different.

    >>>Evidently some people are troubling you and trying to distort the gospel of Christ.
    8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a divine curse! 9As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you embraced, let him be under a divine curse!…Gal 1:8<<<

    Would we have the courage to do this?

    Wisdom from God

    …26Brothers, consider the time of your calling: Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were powerful; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly and despised things of the world, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are, 1 Cor 1:27

    A friend and brother wrote this, I liked it!

    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    “You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an image... “Ex.20:3, 4

    An interesting message entitled, Patriotism verses Nationalism, may be heard here.

    http://reconstructionistradio.com/ru...s-nationalism/

    It is a slightly abridged sermon by Russell Traweek.

    In brief, Patriotism is characterized as - a devotion to a particular place and more importantly a way of life which one believes to be correct. On the other hand, Nationalism, which even Wikipedia reasons is not to be confused with Patriotism, stresses - the superiority of a geographical region along with its people.

    Nationalism seeks power and prestige and always leads to statolatry - worship of the state. Patriotism is defensive, Nationalism is offensive. Nationalistic sentiment involves flag-waving, xenophobia, and all manner of ceremonies honoring the state. As Mises observed, “He who says: The state is God, deifies arms and prisons. The worship of the state is the worship of force.”[1]

    A recent example of the concerns with increasing nationalism was seen during the 2016 Olympics. Christian athlete Gabby Douglas did not follow the formal state liturgy by placing her hand over her heart during the hymn[2} of worship to the American state. On account of Gabby’s slip the nationalists became outraged. She had dishonored the State and its people by not following the prescribed manner of adoration to the god of the Republic. As Joel McDurmon correctly concluded, “It’s easy to condemn the nationalism of a by-gone era. It’s much harder to admit we have our own. The national outrage over one person merely neglecting to put hand-over-heart during the national anthem ought to be startling evidence to you.”

    Yes, I refer to formalities to be followed during state hymns as liturgy – a pattern by which religious worship is publicly conducted. For every nation is in the process of instituting a national religion - a nation-wide system of morality/how its people must live, what is right and what is wrong. If a hymn is to a land, a people group or a flag, then it is not a musical adoration to Christ. It is nothing short of a tune to a false god! Let’s be honest, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, with its intro verse, “My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord,” is infinitely more God-honoring than the statist hymn called, The Star-Spangled Banner! (If that comment offends you, you just might be caught up in nationalism!)

    The Christians of the first centuries refused to pay homage to the State and its Caesar as Lord, choosing instead another mantra, “every tongue should [be] confess[ing] that Jesus Christ is Lord..” Phil.2:10, and the certain death which followed. Unfortunately, today’s Christians are all too eager to pay homage to the state and we will even incorporate its religious hymns and symbols into our public meetings. In Erastian[3] fashion, even allowing it to dictate to us what must be done in order to receive special state blessings, like tax exempt status.

    Endnotes:

    1. Ludwig von Mises, Omnipotent Government: The Rise of the Total State and Total War.

    2. Hymn from ὕμνος – song of praise, also in honor of a divinity. BAGD, p 844.

    3. Erastianism – the doctrine that the state should have supremacy over the Church.

    Lyrics
    Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
    He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
    He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
    His truth is marching on.

    Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
    Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
    Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
    His truth is marching on.

    I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps;
    They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
    I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps,
    His day is marching on.

    I have read His fiery gospel writ in rows of burnished steel!
    "As ye deal with my condemners, so with you My grace shall deal!
    Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel, "
    Since God is marching on.

    He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
    He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat;
    Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him; be jubilant, my feet!
    Our God is marching on.

    In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
    With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me;
    As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free!
    While God is marching on.

    Re: Tools For Evangilsm

    I find the article very interesting. There is one thing though in regard to the Star Spangled Banner:

    The last 3 verses of the Star Spangled Banner are rarely sung. Too difficult to remember, I guess.

    Anyway, here is the last verse.

    Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
    Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
    Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
    Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
    Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
    And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
    And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
    O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
    Peace to you!

    John 12:46
    I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

    Good point and I agree.

    Too bad the majority of Americans don't believe and live this this true anymore (this includes Canada), perhaps then we would not be in the shape we now find ourselves...
