How should we go about in our treatment of children?

Is it right to lie to a child, in order to protect them? And from your experience, how have you gone about in treating children, whether your own or those of relatives and friends?

    Hi Translucent1,

    Could you provide more detail?

My wife and I have always told our kids the Truth (I.e there is no Santa, Easter bunny, Tooth fairy, the Truth about Halloween etc...) but we have "lied" or fudged the truth to them on occasion about things they just would not have understood or could not have tolerated for their age.

From what? Lying ought to be avoided generally, and I doubt the only protection for a child to some thing is to lie.

    Concerning lying to children? I haven't, don't, and won't.
