Why it is important not to let your domain expire

Why it is important, not to let your web address go unpaid.

I went into my control panel today to check my e-mail. One mail said I had a broken link. So I opened it and read. The person who sent it to me was informing me that the link I was using was a p*rn site. You see, the link was a creation site that had some good pics on Noah's Flood. I had it in my Noah's flood section. Of course it is now deleted.

I was told that this happens, but had never seen it for myself. I was also told that if I ever gave up my site, to always hold on to the addresses so the p*rn people can't get it. They love to currupt children of God, which is just sick. Because I know some children had to see this, because I get a few that visit my site on a regular bases.

If you happen to have this address saved to your favorites, or on your site. You might want to delete it. dinosaursandcreation.com

I Could not agree with you more! This has become a huge problem on the internet.

There are dozens of porn syndicates that specifically buy expired Christian sounding domains for the specific reason of putting porn sites on them.

    Why? The answer is simple:

There are millions of hand edited Christian search engines, Christian Message Boards, Christian Blogs, Christian Personal sites etc etc on the internet. Ours is one example. The people who run these sites generally inspect every link they add to their pages. There is NO WAY a porn site could find it's way into one of these.

    UNLESS ...

The pornster could purchase a Christian domain that is already listed on many Christian sites ... and this is exactly what they do. They look especially for expired Christian domains that are already listed in several Christian and other family oriented sites. From their perspective this is like hitting the $64,000 jackpot because how else would they get their link accepted there unless it was already there??

Sometimes people send us email and we remove porn links but for the most part no one complains and the links stay. Short of clicking every link manually there is no way to stop this.

I personally appeal to every Christian who hosts a site or purchases a domain to consider carefully the ramifications of abandoning the domain. Even if you loose interest in your website and cancel it, please, please don't let your domain expire. If you do, you can be sure it will be in the hands of a pornmonger very soon and whatever good your site did while you had it will be negated 1,000 times over once it becomes a filth site.

That should be illegal. I dont' care about the freedom of speech or whatever they hide behind. Its hurting our freedoms by having hiding it in places where it should be safe to go. What are these search engines ur talking about. Do they only find christian web pages, or do they find stuff that google would, as long as its safe. Cause on Google, i've found that usually the first few pages of links are okay, but when u get near the end, be careful, cause i've clicked on links that looks like maybe a critical essay on my subject, and then its some p**n site. Is there nothing that can be done to stop this?
When god ran: and the only time, the only time I ever say Him run was when he ran to me, Took me in His arms, held my head to his chest and said "My son's come home again". Looked in my face, wiped the tears from my eyes with forgivenss in his voice he said "Son, do you know i still love you?

I love this song. Unfortuantly i rarely get to hear it, cause i don't have the cd. I think i'll go eat a whopper so i can download it.

There are literally thousands of Christian search engines around.

These are mostly privately run and they don't 'find' anything - they are not crawlers or spiders like google etc. These are 'manually' maintained. People with Christian websites find them and request to have their link added. On ours http://webnet77.com/links/index.html a real person goes to each and every site and checks it out to see if it really is a Christian site before it will get added.

Because a real person actually takes the time to visit each and every site listed in the search engine, one can usually be sure the content is safe and free from filth, heresy, false doctrine etc.

The problem comes in when the Christian site/domain owner abandons his domain and a pornbroker buys it. All the links to (what used to be a Christian site but is now a filth site) in the Christian search engines s/he requested during the life of the site remain... until some unsuspecting victim stumbles into this filth (by clicking on a 'recommended' link on a Christian search engine).

If, and only if, the person reports it back the the Christian search engine owner will it be removed, since the owners of the Christian search engine have no idea it has gone from a Christian -> sleeze site.

Sadly, most people don't report, so the link to the filth can remain for years and the pornsters are real happy about that

Is there nothing that can be done to stop this?
Yes there is. Christians should be responsible and not abandon their domains at the drop of a hat.

Actually, there are legal charges that can be brought against people doing these types of things if it can be proven that they did it for intentionally atracting past visitors to an inappropriate site. If I recall correctly, some guy was busted for a LONG time for using domain names linking to p*rn sites that were very common mistakes of children's and educational sites.

Yes, this is true if the person who owns the domain live in Western Europe or North America etc. However, in most cases the new owners are in places like Korea, Taiwan, Nigeria, Ukraine, Afghanistan and places like that where the law can’t (won't??) touch them.

Alternatively, they give phoney address information when they register the domain so they are very difficult to trace.

The proposed .xxx domain name would have made a lot of sense, in that it would contain all this kind of material. That would mean that those who wanted to find it would know where to look, and those who didn't would know where to avoid.

I know it's not a perfect solution - many sites contain many types of content (e.g. an art/photography site may have everything from landscapes and still life to nudes) - but at least it keeps the most offensive stuff in one place.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
