Greetings Brothers and Sisters.

Is humanity becoming more physically and spiritually weak because of disobedience?

The question has been asked where did Cain get his wife? He got her in the land of Nod, but who was she? She could only be a very close relative and most likely his sister. But wasnít incest prohibited? No, not at that time because Adam and Eve were perfect with perfect genes and their family would also have almost perfect genes. So at that time, for a man to marry his sister and to have children in such a marriage wouldnít have been a problem. However, as time went on and the population began to increase, the human genes became distorted and it became necessary to introduce a law prohibiting incest. This distortion of the genes has continued to the present time and we have now reached a situation where it seems as though more and more of the human race are becoming so twisted that they canít discern between good and evil. What was once evil has become good and what was once good has become evil. We now have open Sodomy, God says itís wrong, but they think itís ok oblivion to the fact that it causes disease. Sex without marriage, God says itís wrong, but they think itís ok oblivion to the fact that it causes disease. We also have false teachers; heresies and so on, on a scale that is worse than it have ever been before. God said to beware of such, but multitudes eat their deception like honey.

2 Tim 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Is it the case that because humanity has been unwilling to be guided by scripture they have become so spiritually weak that they are participating in their own destruction unawares and the percentage of the Lords people on earth is diminishing?

Luke 18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Do we realise just how distorted and spiritually weak the human race has become and how far removed it is from the purity of Godís original creation?

Adam and Eve's children would have been born after they left the Garden of Eden. Brothers and sisters would have to marry each other in order to continue the human chain of descendants. It wasn't considered incestuous at first because there were wouldn't be any problems with genetic defects. As the generations progressed, greater problems with genetic disorders developed.

As time past, and the world's population grew,it took its toll on the gene pool, and more genetic defects became prevalent because of sin, disease and the environment, so by the time of Moses, the laws against incest and intermarriage, as given in Leviticus 18:1, were necessary. These laws helped prevent deformed or defective offspring.

I don't think humanity has become physically weak because of disobedience only. Because of the environment and interaction among our vast world population, it is easy for new diseases and strains of viruses to crop up.

Although it is a major issue, I am not prepared to talk about the spiritual decline in our society, because there is too much confusion and misunderstanding about what is heresy and what is not. There have many new cults and religions springing up down through the ages, and many evangelists are clumped in with that lot because of misinformation and lack of proper knowledge.

Perhaps we are just living up to our nature..

History just confirms what the Bible has spoken to this issue..the higher the Tower of Babel that is built.. the farther and harder it falls on the heads of the one who built it..:hmm:

As soon as Adam and Eve sinned, the whole creation fell. It is no "more" fallen now that it was then--it is completely fallen.

Genetically speaking, the offspring of a brother sister birth will be more likley to retain a negative trait shared within the family. However, at the same time, they are also more likley to pass on positive traits shared within the family. So, basically, it is a wash and there is no overall corruption to the gene pool of the species.

Hi Biblebelt,
If you notice in that verse from 2 Tim., it is the evil men who grow worse and worse as they deceive one another. The righteous on the other hand have always been a minority, but we are here. The fact that evil men are also religious should not surprise us. In fact, as the line is being drawn, it becomes easier to see just who the wicked are as well as the broad road on which they travel.

The fact that heresies cause division is so that those who are approved can be made manifest. In other words, discernment is needed and gained by testing what false teachers say with the word of God. Just like the Bereans of old did. It is hard to be deceived if you are holding fast to the truth.

As for fallen humanity getting "spiritually" weaker - you can't get much weaker than dead! Religious men have always used scripture as the means to justify their own end. That is what makes their deception so deceitful. They take the Word of Life in their mouth in order to spit it back out just to get others to serve them.

But like Luke says, if righteous men begin to pray against this evil instead of trying to compromise with it, then the Lord will find the faith He seeks upon the earth when He returns.

Thanks to you all for your comments.

Before the flood the sons of God compromised by being unequally yoked together with unbelievers and the offspring of the unequal yoke became very wicked Gen 6:1-7.

It was never all right with God for the righteous sons of God to marry the unrighteous daughters of men, but they did and it was a breeding ground for wickedness.

Now the sons of God had sinned, but they were not dead in sin. The scripture says there were giants in those days, so the sons of God were very strong genetically, but very weak spiritually and their offspring to unrighteous daughters of men were strong genetically as well, but very wicked.

Matt 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Are believers becoming weak spiritually and compromising today as they did in the days before the flood?

Also, what do you think happened to the sons of God in the flood?
Obviously they were not allowed to join Noah in the ark because of their sin, but God may have taken them prematurely before the flood commenced.

God bless.

Obviously they were not allowed to join Noah in the ark because of their sin, but God may have taken them prematurely before the flood commenced. Now that is a different question. For believers who compromise with unbelievers I think it would make them weak, if not defiled. 2 Cor 6:14-18 talks about remaining separate and cleansing oneself of all filthiness of flesh and spirit so that God will receive us as sons and daughters.

The only ones who found grace in God's sight in Noah's day were his family - the rest all drowned. If there were any other "sons of God" still around, the text doesn't say. Noah preached for 120 years, so perhaps the few that were, died natural deaths by the time of the flood.

I am not sure if this is what you are getting at, but an early or untimely death can still occur to the NT Christian who continues in willful sin.

(1 Cor 11:27-32 KJV) Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. {28} But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. {29} For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. {30} For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. {31} For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. {32} But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

To not obey the commandments is to be rebellious. Being rebellious leads to disobedience.
Not disagreeing with you, just my way of pointing out one of the causes of disobedience.:)

The amount of disbelief and misconstrued beliefs are frightening. We are truly in the last days. I can't imagine it getting any worse, although day by day, it is.
