Why this thread?

We are in difficult times so it is really easy to focus on our individual problems as so many of us have them now; and the problems of our economy, as well as the global conflicts. The world is in a mess. :eek:

Yet..

That, first and foremost, we are part of the Kingdom [...the kingdom of God is within you." (Lk. 17:21) comforts me. We are subjects of our king, Jesus, who is God..the Alpha and Omega..the beginning and the end. The kingdom of God is God's rule in the lives of His people and His creation. When Jesus entered Jerusalem he said that even the stones would cry out with praise. All of creation for all eternity will praise Him.

Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; ...."

You are invited on this thread to please read, post, and share (if you will) your reflections on scriptures which have to do with the Kingdom of God so we can encourage one another.

It always saddens me when i give a Christian answer to a question and another Christian says - yes but, lets come back to the real world.

Thank you for this topic. One foot in the kingdom, eyes and ears focused on Jesus Christ.

I have many new problems each day and hear/ pray for bigger ones than my own. Today has enough worry of it's own, let tomorrow worry about it's self!

Love SofTy.

Thank you SISTER, and God bless you guys, too. :)

Here is another pearl:

22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

25 See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, 26 whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” 27 Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Matthew 5:3 KJV (http://www.tnivbible.com/bible/passagesearch.php?passage_request=Matthew 5:3&kjv=yes)

Hi wise grand-ma ^^,

for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

So if about 2 thousand years ago, It was at hand, then today it`s within you.[us]" (Lk. 17:21) as you quoted.

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Luke 21.28

So we can start living this kingdom in earth.

Go well and thanks for sharing wiseoldowl

This scripture (words of Jesus) about the "Kingdom" really blesses me.

Luke 12:32
"Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.

We are the "little" flock, the sheep of His pasture. :pp

You are invited to share more scriptures and comments about the kingdom of God? ( heavenly kingdom). . .for comfort and encouragement here to all.

Here is the story of the man who was crucified with Jesus.

Notice..his words to Jesus after he rebukes the other criminal and the response Jesus give him.

><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><>

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"

But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? 41We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
42Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." 43Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:39-43)

I'm currently reading an e-book by Chip Brogden about the Kingdom of God that is blessing my socks off. It's called "The Irresistible Kingdom."

You can access it via http://theschoolofchrist.org (http://theschoolofchrist.org)

You can sign up for the first part of the e-book for free (and others as well) just by plugging in your e-mail address and adding a username.

Very, very good stuff.

Enjoy!

More about the kingdom...

Matthew 13:33-35 (TNIV)

He told them still another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough." Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet:
"I will open my mouth in parables,
I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jesus often used examples from daily living to illustrate his teaching (via the use of parables..stories) and each parable had a point to make as we can see in this one where he uses the example of a woman making dough.
Here the kingdom is compared to the yeast which makes the dough rise. So, too, we can thank God for the righteousness, peace, and joy of His Kingdom permeating and causing the dough of our Christian lives to be lifted up as we seek to follow Jesus and continue in the Word.
peace and blessings :)
"Blessed are you who are poor,
21Blessed are you who hunger now,
for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who weep now,
for you will laugh"
"For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power."
Here Paul is addressing the Corinthians who had become arrogant in talk but weren't walking the walk.
He is talking about the "power of God" which goes beyond anything we can muster up on our own. Speaks to me of how our behavior and example (the fruit of the Holy Spirit) edifies and draws others to the love of Christ because they see it in us. Such love is real drawing power in which others are drawn to God through us. :)
"Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
Lord, teach us your ways so that with humility of heart like trusting children we will follow you.
Another scripture of encouragement about the Kingdom...:pp
James 2:5 KJV (http://www.tnivbible.com/bible/passagesearch.php?passage_request=James 2:5&kjv=yes)
Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
From the Book of Revelation these words give much encouragement.
"And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night." (Rev. 12:10, KJV)
Matthew 13:43 NIV (http://www.tnivbible.com/bible/passagesearch.php?passage_request=Matthew 13:43&niv=yes)
Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.
Prayer: Creator and loving God, our Father, open our ears so that we hear. And let us anticipate the coming of the kingdom with encouraged hearts and high hopes as we walk in faith and love. :amen:
As many are experiencing hard times economically and are out of work, having to move, or making other adjustments.
Let's be praying for each other and also remember to keep our eyes on Jesus as we focus on the kingdom of God.:pray:
Here is another kingdom scripture for our reflection:
Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. (Luke 6:20, NIV)
Matt.5 (http://quod.lib.umich.edu/cgi/r/rsv/rsv-idx?type=DIV2&byte=4576340):19 (RSV)
" Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. "
The encouraging part of this one is the last part.."who does them and teaches them..."
