Matthew 26-27 (New King James Version)

"Where I First Saw The Light"
The phrase above comes from a hymn, At The Cross, written by Isaac Watts in the early 1700's. Just as baptism takes us back to death, burial and resurrection of Christ, communion takes us back to the Upper Room and ultimately to the foot of the cross. We stand there, sickened by the torture and brutality of the event. Silenced. In awe of the love for us God displayed through the sacrifice of His Son. Jesus chose to take upon Himself the sins of the whole world. He chose the cup of thorns, the spear through the side, the nails through the hands and feet, the mockery of the crowds, the abandonment of His disciples, separation from the Father. All for you.

FOR TODAY: Consider the eternity of Jesus sacrifice for you.
