I have a NIV Compact Reference Bible that I bought back in 2005. Its starting to show some wear. I looked at my local Christian bookstore and saw the so called replacement called the "NIV Compact Thinline Reference Bible" and was not impressed.

My NIV Compact Bible contains book introductions, tables, charts and maps and all in a Bible that will fit in my pocket. The "replacements" have ridden all that and yet charge the same price as what I paid in 2005 for my Compact version.

I also have the KJV Compact Reference Bible and the ESV Crossway Compact Bible and none of these can come close to the NIV Compact Reference Bible from 2005.

Is this a Bible of the past and will ebay be my best bet for finding replacements in the future?

Thanks

No offense but you did not read my message. It stated that the newer versions of the Compact Bible (which I have examined in person at my local Christian bookstore) do not provide me with all the depth of the older Compact Bibles.

But none the less I bought a button flap version in the New & used section on amazon.com and found someone with a brand new version that in bought for $16.

I need this as mine is starting to show wear and the button flap will reduce wear.

You may want to check out the Half Priced Book Store, most cities have a few. I've found a lot of good used Bibles I was looking for there. Just make a point of browsing the Bible section once a month or so and you might find it cheap. E-bay is the easier, softer alternative. Good Luck. I used to use the NIV but I've moved to the ESV.

No it is not. But I found what I was looking for in the Used section on amazon.com so I bought a backup copy.

I use the ESV as well and own 2 copies. However the crossway portable cnat even come close to this NIV portable that I refer to, which contains, maps, charts, tables, book intro's, outlines, themes, and cross refs all in a portable Bible that will fit in my pocket.

I bolded that above because I just know someone is going to reply and not read that and reccommend a Bible that will not fit in my pocket. They do so because they failed to read my reply.
