Why Pray?

God is all sufficient. Does He, therefore, need our prayers? Well, there are many needs in this world that God has delegated to us to take care of. He could produce crops without farmers and conversions of unbelievers without our help if He wanted to. but instead, He encourages believers to be a part of His plan. Therefore, God has promised to hear our prayers and take them into account. Who knows how many good things have been wrought because of the prayers of His children? Luke 18:1 mentions another benefit of prayer, a close relationship with our Creator will keep us from "losing heart" when trials and sorrows enter our lives. So, prayer is a "two way street." God wants our input, and just knowing that our almighty God hears and answers our petitions will keep us from becoming discouraged in serving Him.

FOR TODAY: More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of. - Alfred Lord Tennyson
