(It is not only the federal government who has serious financial problems, some states are also in very deep trouble – Roelof)

With time and money running out for California, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a fiscal emergency Monday and called legislators into a new special session that won't end until they agree on a way to trim the state's $11.2 billion budget deficit.
Without immediate action, our state is headed for a fiscal disaster" in which California could run out of money to pay its bills by late February, the governor said in a news conference in Los Angeles.

(Must the big and unprofitable US car makers be left to sink and millions of jobs be lost? - Roelof)

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Ford Motor Co., the first of the domestic automakers to make a second pitch for a federal lifeline, laid out plans to Congress on Tuesday to return to profitability by 2011 in hopes of gaining access to $9 billion in federal loans.

Ford said it doesn't expect a liquidity crisis in 2009.
The plan also calls for an investment of about $14 billion in advanced technologies and products to improve fuel efficiency over the next seven years. Ford is looking to launch a battery electric van-type vehicle for commercial fleet use in 2010 and a BEV sedan in 2011.

Again, thanks for this thread. Great information and I basically read it everyday. God bless you, Roelof.

Here is an interesting article from CNN
Biological terror attack likely by 2013, panel says

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/12/02/terror.report/index.html

"The consequences of a biological attack are almost beyond comprehension. It would be 9/11 times 10 or a hundred in terms of the number of people who would be killed," former Sen. Bob Graham said.
He cited the flu virus that killed millions of people in 1918 as an example.
"Today it is still in the laboratory, but if it should get out and into the hands of scientists who knew how to use it for a violent purpose, we could have multiple times the 40 million people who were killed 100 years ago," he said.

Several of Barack Obama’s policies are bound to provoke the wrath of the Vatican. During George W. Bush’s administration, U.S.-Vatican relations strengthened more than ever before, culminating in a visit from the pope in April this year. But all that will change when America’s most liberal senator (http://nj.nationaljournal.com/voteratings/) takes his post as president.

“The first thing I will do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act,” said Mr. Obama (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/nov/30/obama-vs-pope-benedict/) at an address before Planned Parenthood on July 17, 2007. But if Obama signs this in his first month of office, it “would be the equivalent of a war,” according to a senior Vatican official (http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1859856,00.html).

The Freedom of Choice Act would codify Roe v. Wade as federal law. Abortion would be funded by taxpayers in every state, with no restrictions. Late-term abortions would be legal in every state, and parental notification laws would be removed. Catholics are worried the law could also force Catholic hospitals to undertake abortions.

J. Francis Stafford (http://ncronline3.org/drupal/?q=node/2588), one of the highest-ranking American cardinals at the Vatican, said Obama has “an agenda and vision that are aggressive, disruptive and apocalyptic.”

(Transformed into an One World Government - Roelof)

The U.S. National Intelligence Council’s (nic’s) newly released report, “Global Trends 2025: A Transformed World (http://www.dni.gov/nic/NIC_2025_project.html),” relies on input from a sizable collection of bright minds, each with his own particular view on the future, all of them having as their foundation this world’s system of education, and all possessing their own biases and human prejudices.

Even as the U.S. National Intelligence Council was putting the finishing touches to its report, the EU was dictating economic and financial policy to the G-20 nations gathered in Washington to seek a solution to the current global financial and economic crisis. At the same time, the Bertelsmann Foundation of Germany was depositing a shaft of demands (http://www.thetrumpet.com/index.php?q=5674.4028.0.0) on Washington’s doorstep that it expects the new Obama administration to follow. Thus, contrary to the nic report, the EU is already very active translating its “economic clout into global influence.”

The nic report seems oblivious to the fact that the German-dominated EU is definitely not a democratic institution. It imposes its will upon its member nations by edict from its headquarters in Brussels, issued and enforced by unelected representatives. When a referendum is held by a member nation to give its constituents a vote on a question of national importance, if the people return a vote that is unfavorable to the EU, that vote is rejected outright and a further referendum called to force a vote in favor of the EU will. That has happened twice in Ireland in recent times.

(Ladies, watch over your men - Roelof)

Johannesburg - South African men are world leaders in believing they are good-looking - and are the most committed to their shaving mirrors, shows a global survey released on Tuesday. A full 78% of South African men said they believed they were sexy. And their motive for looking good was to please themselves, said market intelligence company Synovate.

Only Greek men (81%) and Russian men (80%) topped what the researchers labelled the "Adonis complex" of South African male species.

At the dedication of the new visitor's center, Congressman Harry Reid said this:

"My staff tells me not to say this, but I'm going to say it anyway," said Reid in his remarks. "In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it's true."

You disgust me Mr. Reid. That stench you smell is coming from INSIDE the Capital.

(I fully support the ACDP. Jesus might return much sooner than the ANC bargained for - Roelof)

Cape Town - The African Christian Democratic Party has warned the ANC to stop making "mocking and irreverent" references to Jesus.
"Their habit of joking about and using the name of the Lord in vain is tantamount to blasphemy, and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms", ACDP leader Kenneth Meshoe said in a statement on Wednesday.
He further warned that the ruling party's claim it would rule until Jesus returned was arrogant, and "will cause them to lose the privilege of governing South Africa". The ACDP deplored and rejected a recent comparison - made by ANC Free State leader Ace Magashule - of the "unrighteous and unholy" ANC president Jacob Zuma with Jesus.

Poznan - Climate change could become the main driver of refugee movements, uprooting millions each year, a UN official said on Wednesday as the United Nations and Red Cross urged a stronger global effort to help people face the fallout from global warming. Worse storms, more flooding and decreasing rainfall, which are likely to hit the world's poorest people hardest, are among the expected consequences as climate change takes hold.

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Conservatives who have left the U.S. Episcopal Church took the first step on Wednesday to form a separate Anglican Church in North America, following years of division over gay rights and scriptural interpretation.
Meeting at Wheaton College near Chicago, the Common Cause Partnership, referring to itself as the "Anglican Church in North America" and claiming 100,000 followers, published a constitution. Its bid for separate status requires global church approval.
The document said members were "grieved by the current state of brokenness within the Anglican Communion prompted by those who have embraced erroneous teaching and who have rejected a repeated call to repentance."

British house prices tumbled at a record 16.1 per cent in November, marking the sharpest drop in property values for a quarter of a century.
Figures released this morning by Halifax revealed that prices fell 2.6 per cent in November compared with October, and are 16.1 per cent lower than in November 2007.
The year-on-year decline is deeper than falls recorded during the last recession in the early 1990s, and is the biggest drop since 1983.

(Three million jobs are at stake – Roelof)

General Motors Corp and Chrysler LLC are considering accepting a pre-arranged bankruptcy as the last-resort price of getting a multi billion dollar government bailout, Bloomberg reported, citing a person familiar with internal discussions.
In response to automakers' bailout plea, staff for three members of Congress have asked restructuring experts if a pre-arranged bankruptcy -- negotiated with workers, creditors and lenders -- could be used to reorganize the sector without liquidation, Bloomberg said.

Industry executives and analysts say the immediate carnage from a bankruptcy of General Motors Corp, Ford Motor Co or Chrysler would spread throughout an industry that is bleeding cash in a global slowdown.
All three automakers have urged Congress to authorize $34 billion in loans and credit lines, saying they will restructure, and cut models, jobs and executive pay to remain viable.

Now that the national authority on U.S. recessions has declared what everyone already knew — yes, the US is in one — the question in this state is: How does Connecticut stack up against the nation?

So far, economists say, the state has fared better than the nation as a whole. But that advantage might not last, and Connecticut's fate depends more on what happens across the United States as a whole than events within state lines.

The European Central Bank cut interest rates by three quarters of a percentage point, the biggest reduction in its 10-year history, as the economic slump deepened and inflation waned.

ECB policy makers meeting in Brussels lowered the benchmark lending rate (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=EURR002W%3AIND) to 2.5 percent from 3.25 percent. Only 17 of 56 economists in a Bloomberg News survey correctly forecast the move, with 35 predicting a cut of 50 basis points and 4 calling for a full percentage-point reduction. The Bank of England and Sweden’s Riksbank lowered rates more than the ECB today.

Central banks around the world are cutting borrowing costs by unprecedented amounts in a bid to contain the fallout from the financial crisis, which has already pushed the euro region into its worst recession in 15 years. Until today, the ECB had restricted itself to two 50-point cuts, with President Jean- Claude Trichet (http://search.bloomberg.com/search?q=Jean-%0AClaude+Trichet&site=wnews&client=wnews&proxystylesheet=wnews&output=xml_no_dtd&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&filter=p&getfields=wnnis&sort=date:D:S:d1) stressing its role as an “anchor of stability.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States can expect a terrorist attack using nuclear or more likely biological weapons before 2013, reports a bipartisan commission in a study being briefed Tuesday to Vice President-elect Joe Biden. It suggests the Obama administration bolster efforts to counter and prepare for germ warfare by terrorists.

"Our margin of safety is shrinking, not growing," states the report, obtained by The Associated Press. It is scheduled to be publicly released Wednesday.
The commission is also encouraging the new White House to appoint one official on the National Security Council to exclusively coordinate U.S. intelligence and foreign policy on combating the spread of nuclear and biological weapons.

Having grounded their luxury jets and agreed to work for $1 a year, the heads of the "Big Three" U.S. automakers dropped arrogance for humility on Thursday in a new plea for federal help to survive.
"We're here today because we made mistakes, which we are learning from," General Motors Corp Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner testified at a hearing of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee.
After being pushed for personal sacrifices, they also agreed to work for $1 a year if lawmakers approve their proposals for a total of $34 billion in emergency government assistance.
The mood in the hearing room was somber as auto executives sought to persuade lawmakers that their survival plans deserved taxpayer financing.

More than half a million Americans lost their jobs last month, official figures indicated yesterday, in the most dramatic sign yet of the economic crisis engulfing the United States.
The worst monthly job loss figures in 34 years capped a week in which household names such as AT&T, the telecoms company, and Viacom, the entertainments business, laid off 33,000 people. The unwelcome unemployment data came as the number of people having their homes repossessed hit a record high.
Economists described the US economy as “in absolute free fall”. Nigel Gault, chief US economist at Global Insight, said: “Confidence has collapsed.”

The economic slowdown has been exacerbated by the worst credit crisis in seven decades and is compounded by potential collapse of the U.S. auto industry. Congress will return next week to decide whether to rescue the Big Three car companies.

Modernizing health care was the final component of the plan. By introducing new technology and electronic medical records, he said health-care workers could “prevent medical mistakes, and help save billions of dollars each year.”

CHICAGO — Scientists have discovered a more efficient way of building a synthetic genome that could one day enable them to create artificial life, according to a study released on Wednesday.

The method is already being used to help develop next generation biofuels and biochemicals in the labs of controversial celebrity US scientist Craig Venter.

Venter has hailed artificial life forms as a potential remedy to illness and global warming, but the prospect is highly controversial and arouses heated debate over its potential ramifications and the ethics of engineering artificial life.

Artificially engineered life is one of the Holy Grails of science, but also stirs deep fears as foreseen in Aldous Huxley’s 1932 novel “Brave New World” in which natural human reproduction is eschewed in favour of babies grown in laboratories.

On the heels of more grim unemployment news, President-elect Barack Obama (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/Barack+Obama?tid=informline) yesterday offered the first glimpse of what would be the largest public works program since President Dwight D. Eisenhower (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/Dwight+D.+Eisenhower?tid=informline) created the federal interstate system in the 1950s.

Obama said the massive government spending program he proposes to lift the country out of economic recession will include a renewed effort to make public buildings energy-efficient, rebuild the nation's highways, renovate aging schools and install computers in classrooms, extend high-speed Internet to underserved areas and modernize hospitals by giving them access to electronic medical records.

(I made it my ministry to prepare Christians for the Tribulation, Rapture and Second Coming of Jesus Christ - Roelof)

From the Trumpet:

A local news program here in Oklahoma recently accused our organization of scaring people with a doomsday message in order to win their financial backing. Ironically, their report was filled with dozens of violent and ghoulish images—an agonizing two-headed man, burning angels, horn-headed demons, the Grim Reaper, medieval monsters, skeleton warriors, mushroom clouds, exploding globes, “the end is near” signposts—all of this mixed together with every imaginable religious-looking image, none of which we supplied to the station. Blaring in the background of this horror-movie montage was the most hideous, shrieking noise I’ve ever heard.

We do, however, analyze and describe this world as it is—and as God correctly prophesied it would be thousands of years ago—an evil, sin-sick world lying prostrate on its deathbed, gasping for its last breath.

That is reality! But it’s no scare tactic. It’s actually a warning message motivated purely by God’s great love for mankind—and one, as we will see, that is filled with hope!

There was a time when a “last days” message might have been lumped in with the doomsday warnings of some wild-eyed fanatic shouting from a soapbox on a street corner. But with prominent economists, scientists, politicians and commentators now issuing grave warnings about the present course of world events, those days are clearly over.

Remember how close we were to economic Armageddon in mid-September? “The nation is gripped by the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression,” the New York Times wrote (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/21/business/21econ.html?src=linkedin) at the time. The American financial system “was sliding from grim toward potentially apocalyptic,” it warned.

The New York Post (http://www.nypost.com/seven/09212008/business/almost_armageddon_130110.htm) followed up that shocker with the scary details, saying the market on September 18 was just “500 trades away from Armageddon.”

Even now, without a bomb, Iran almost daily reminds us that we are living in a very different world than it was even 15 or 20 years ago. As Caroline Glick wrote in the Jerusalem Post recently (http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1227702394020&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull),
Iran daily threatens to destroy the U.S., annihilate Israel, close the Straits of Hormuz, use nuclear weapons and proliferate nuclear weapons to other states. It controls Syria, Lebanon and Gaza.

Yet one of the first foreign-policy initiatives promised by the incoming Obama administration is to attempt to diplomatically engage Iran with the aim of striking a grand bargain with the mullahs.

Similar warnings are recorded within the pages of the Holy Bible. Take 2 Timothy 3:1, for example. The Apostle Paul wrote, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” Paul, having been brought up in a Hebrew household as a boy, was very familiar with the way world conditions would be in the end time. Notice how he described the last days: “For men will be selfish, fond of money, boastful, haughty, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, irreverent, callous, relentless, scurrilous, dissolute, and savage; they will hate goodness, they will be treacherous, reckless and conceited, preferring pleasure to God” (verses 2-4, Moffatt translation).

This is obviously a prophecy for the last days. And it’s describing world conditions that simply could not have been applied to an America of 100 years ago—or even 50. But it’s uncanny how accurate the description fits today’s world.

What about Jesus Christ’s warning? While on the Mount of Olives, His disciples asked, “[W]hat shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” (Matthew 24:3). The disciples too were intensely interested in what world conditions would be like at the time of the end—yes, the end of this world!
Jesus goes on to describe, not the permanent end of Earth’s existence, but rather the end of this age—the world as we know it to be, ruled by Satan (2 Corinthians 4:4; Galatians 4:4). “For then shall be great tribulation,” Jesus said, “such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matthew 24:21).

Yet God, in an abundant display of His great mercy and love, continues warning mankind of what is about to explode over all the Earth in the days just ahead of us.

We are, in fact, living in the very last days!

But what most commentators do not see is that these dark days will usher in the return of Jesus Christ to this Earth and the dawn of a new age! “And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory” (verse 27). As promised in hundreds of prophecies throughout the Holy Bible, Jesus Christ is about to return to this Earth to establish the world-ruling Kingdom of God.
We are destined, as no generation has been before us, to live in two different worlds!
Are you preparing now for the dawn of this new world—putting God first in all that you say and do, striving against fleshly pulls to live the joyous way that the Prophet Isaiah said would soon spread over all the Earth even as the waters cover the sea?

The U.S. economy may be headed for its deepest and longest recession since World War II as mounting job losses take their toll on consumer confidence and spending.
Employers cut payrolls last month at the fastest pace in 34 years as the unemployment rate rose to 6.7 percent, the highest level since 1993. The 533,000 drop brought cumulative job losses this year to 1.91 million, the Labor Department said yesterday in Washington.

Adolescents who have high levels of exposure to television programmes that contain sexual content are twice as likely to be involved in a pregnancy over the following three years as their peers who watch few such shows, according to a new RAND Corporation study.

The study, published in the November edition of the journal Paediatrics, is the first to establish a link between teenagers' exposure to sexual content on TV and either pregnancies among girls, or responsibility for pregnancies among boys.
"Adolescents receive a considerable amount of information about sex through television and that programming typically does not highlight the risks and responsibilities of sex,"
"The amount of sexual content on television has doubled in recent years, and there is little representation of safer sex practices in those portrayals,"

The U.S. faces a cybersecurity threat of such magnitude that the next President should move quickly to create a Center for Cybersecurity Operations and appoint a special White House advisor to oversee it. Those are among the recommendations in a 44-page report by the U.S. Commission on Cybersecurity, a version of which will be made public today. The bipartisan panel includes executives, high-ranking military officers and intelligence officials, leading specialists in computer security, and two members of Congress.

To compile the report, which is entitled "Securing Cyberspace in the 44th Presidency," commission members say they reviewed tens of thousands of pages of undisclosed documentation, visited forensics labs and the National Security Agency, and were briefed in closed-door sessions by top officials from Pentagon, CIA, and British spy agency MI5. From their research, they concluded that the U.S. badly needs a comprehensive cybersecurity policy to replace an outdated checklist of security requirements for government agencies under the existing Federal Information Security Management Act.

Gulah

Thanks for the link, I would like to highlight a few points. My view point is that a world government could be in place by 2012.

A “world government” would involve much more than co-operation between nations. It would be an entity with state-like characteristics, backed by a body of laws. The European Union has already set up a continental government for 27 countries, which could be a model. The EU has a supreme court, a currency, thousands of pages of law, a large civil service and the ability to deploy military force.

First, it is increasingly clear that the most difficult issues facing national governments are international in nature: there is global warming, a global financial crisis and a “global war on terror”.

Second, it could be done. The transport and communications revolutions have shrunk the world so that, as Geoffrey Blainey, an eminent Australian historian, has written: “For the first time in human history, world government of some sort is now possible.”

The MGI report argues for the creation of a UN high commissioner for counter-terrorist activity, a legally binding climate-change agreement negotiated under the auspices of the UN and the creation of a 50,000-strong UN peacekeeping force. Once countries had pledged troops to this reserve army, the UN would have first call upon them.

We are seeing the fruits of the great falling away. It has just about hit critical mass. Corrupt governments and banks trying to exercise control of their citizens, which in large groups, are also displaying an inability to distinguish right from wrong.

We are seeing shadow forces imposing a socialist new world order, another group fighting jihad to impose a one world theocracy, and people who know nothing but secular humanism, materialism, and moral relativism, caught in the middle.

Mogadishu - The death toll from fighting in Somalia has reached 16 210 since the start of last year, a local human rights group said on Wednesday. The Mogadishu-based Elman Peace and Human Rights Organisation has been tracking the casualties since Islamist insurgents launched a rebellion against the UN-backed interim government and its Ethiopian military allies early in 2007.

Washington - The Hubble telescope has detected carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of a planet in another solar system, in what Nasa called a key step that could one day help researchers find life on another planet.
The planet HD 189733b is located about 63 light-years away and is about the size of Jupiter, but is too hot for life, Nasa researchers said on Tuesday. Scientists used Hubble's infrared camera to find wavelengths that show carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide gases in the planet's atmosphere.

More than one-third of adults and nearly 12 percent of children in the United States use alternatives to traditional medicine, according to a large federal survey released today that documents how entrenched acupuncture, herbal remedies and other once-exotic therapies have become.
The 2007 survey of more than 32,000 Americans, which for the first time included children, found that use of yoga, "probiotics," fish oil and other "complementary and alternative" therapies held steady among adults since the last national survey five years earlier, and that such treatments have become part of health care for many youngsters.

Hi, Roelof! The 3rd horseman of the apocalypse is spoken of in Revelation 6:5. The third seal is broken and a black horse rides onto the scene with a rider who carries a pair of scales. During the ride of this horseman, a "loaf of wheat bread or 3 loaves of barley" will cost a whole day's pay! The two horsemen before that are the rider (most likely antiChrist) who receives a crown and goes out to win many battles, and the rider on the red horse with a mighty sword who removes peace from the earth. I suspect that we'll be seeing the white horse begin its ride soon (if it has not already begun, which I am also wondering), followed by the red horse bringing terrible war, followed by the black horse with its financial woes. I have a feeling that our current economic troubles are just a start to those that will come with the black horse.

The House approved a $14 billion rescue plan this evening to help struggling U.S. automakers, but Senate Republicans threatened to sink the deal negotiated by the White House and Congressional Democrats.

The bailout measure passed the House on a 237-170 vote as supporters warned that federal aid was needed to prevent the collapse of one or more of the Big Three firms and steep job losses that could plunge the country deeper into recession.
But a last-minute visit by top White House officials to lobby lawmakers failed to win over many GOP senators, who objected to risking taxpayer money on a bailout that might help the auto giants avoid bankruptcy for a only few months.

They need to believe in something, for the Lord plants a knowledge of Him in all of us. They cry out for something to believe in. here is a belief among some economists that because of America’s unique status as the world’s largest single economy and only military superpower that it is immune to the laws of economics. There is a belief in Washington and in the big media that deficits don’t matter. Is it true? Can politicians continue the record deficit spending spree without critically damaging the economy?

Yet today, in the midst of a slumping economy that is, if truth be known, probably shedding jobs at closer to 700,000 per month as opposed to the reported 535,000

Already, interest payments on Medicare, Medicade and Social Security liabilities take up 42 percent of America’s budget (http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/fy2009/pdf/apers/dimensions.pdf).
Then there is the ballooning national debt. The total national debt incurred from 1791 to the present is approximately $10.6 trillion (http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/BPDLogin?application=np). And now, with all the announced emergency spending plans, which will cost around $2 trillion, the government plans to add almost 20 percent to the debt burden. In just one year.
Two trillion is an outrageous amount of money. The Marshall Plan that paid for the reconstruction of Europe after World War ii only cost $115 billion (http://www.financialsense.com/editorials/litle/2008/1202.html), after adjusting for inflation.

As a percentage of gross domestic product, next year’s budget deficit is expected to be the worst (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Federal-deficit-totals-1644B-apf-13797842.html) in the history of the U.S.

Mr. Walker reports that the amount of money America needs stashed away earning interest to cover the government’s Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid promises is a shocking $50 trillion.

Instead of lulling people into a false sense of security, economists should be warning that America’s profligate spending is going to wreck the nation’s finances. And eventually that will mean a falling dollar, much higher interest rates, and a greatly reduced standard of living for America.

(Another sure sign of the Last Days - Roelof)

because they told you that at the last time there will be mockers according to their lusts, leading ungodly lives. (Jud 1:18)

because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the Law of God, neither indeed can it be. (Rom 8:7)

It seems every few days another example appears of active, intentional, malicious hostility against God. Many people are thinking quite a lot about God—specifically, how to force Him into retreat.

We are witnessing something of a crusade. It’s not just an effort to clear space for non-believers to practice their non-belief. They already have plenty of that. This is a movement to systematically eliminate God from public life—to establish godlessness as the state religion. A movement to, if you will, crush the fidels.

Take the story that emerged last week (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081202/ap_on_re_us/heavenly_security) about an antiterrorism law in Kentucky acknowledging that the state’s security “cannot be achieved apart from reliance upon Almighty God.” A plaque in the state’s emergency operations center quotes Psalm 127: “Except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”

American Atheists Inc. is hopping mad about it. As far as it is concerned, this is tantamount to establishing a state religion, expressly forbidden by the First Amendment. Last Tuesday it filed suit against the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security in an effort to strike the offensive references. American Atheists president Ed Buckner justifies the action with this reasoning: “I’m not aware of any other state or commonwealth that is attempting to dump their clear responsibility for protecting their citizens onto God or any other mythological creature.” Very clever, Mr. Buckner.

America’s strongly religious history has been sanitized for atheistic consumption.

(A very good sign - Roelof)

The sudden crush of worshipers packing the small evangelical Shelter Rock Church in Manhasset, N.Y. — a Long Island hamlet of yacht clubs and hedge fund managers — forced the pastor to set up an overflow room with closed-circuit TV and 100 folding chairs, which have been filled for six Sundays straight.

In Seattle, the Mars Hill Church, one of the fastest-growing evangelical churches in the country, grew to 7,000 members this fall, up 1,000 in a year. At the Life Christian Church in West Orange, N.J., prayer requests have doubled — almost all of them aimed at getting or keeping jobs.
Like evangelical churches around the country, the three churches have enjoyed steady growth over the last decade. But since September, pastors nationwide say they have seen such a burst of new interest that they find themselves contending with powerful conflicting emotions — deep empathy and quiet excitement — as they re-encounter an old piece of religious lore: Bad times are good for evangelical churches.

By 1987 the TC (Trilateral Commission) controlled 60% of the worlds wealth through banks, presidents of multi-national, media moguls, politicians and university authorities. (Committee to Restore the Constitution bulletin Dec 1989 Hillarie du Berrier)
Most of our elected and appointed officials support a one-world government and terminating the U.S. as a sovereign nation. Many are covertly maneuvering our country away from our traditional democratic form of government!

“Daniel was then told to protect the message received so that it could be read in later times. The time of the end is aptly described as a day when knowledge shall be increased, namely our modern computer era.” (Daniel 12:4, KJV Bible Commentary)

1986/87 – a Sabbatical Year. This Sabbatical year had 3 solar eclipses and 2 lunar eclipses.
I regard this as the year the End of the End Times (Last Days) started. It was marked with a supernova first seen on 23 Feb 1987. A supernova is an exploding star that can become billions of times as bright as the sun before gradually fading from view. It was the first supernova to be visible to the naked eye in almost 400 years.

1989 - The beginning of the current 28 year cycle was 1989 AD, which were 71 of the 28 year cycles after Jesus Christ was born. The World Wide Web was created by Sir Tim Berners-Lee in Switzerland. This led to an explosion of knowledge.

As I page through the more than 1 000 posts in my thread Last Days – Roelof's News Reports #1, I realize that most of the Biblical prophesies on the Last Days have been fulfilled !!

I fully agree that 2009 will be a tough and long year:

The world-wide recession will continue: job losts, decline in growth
Tention in the Middle East will not ease (Iran and Israel and her neighbours)
The move towards an One World Economy will keep momentum
The forming of the Ten Regions or Unions in the One World Government will speed up
The signs of the Last Days will continue and intensify
I do not want to say much about militant Muslims on the forum
All Christians will be one year closer to the Second Coming of Christ.

Do not fear, never give up, God will not forsake His true children

I will say of Jehovah, my refuge and my fortress; my God; in Him I will trust. (Psa 91:2)

US scientists have developed a tiny sensor that can detect small amounts of cancer-causing toxins or trace the effectiveness of cancer drugs inside living cells.

The finding, reported on Sunday in the journal Nature Nanotechnology, offers a new tool for tracking specific chemicals in the body.
"We made a very small nanosensor that can detect cancer-causing molecules or important therapeutic drugs inside of a single living cell," said Michael Strano of Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, who worked on the study. "It's much smaller than a living cell in your body," Strano said in a telephone interview.

Almost 150 years after the American Civil War the struggle to save the country’s carmaking industry is once again becoming a battle between the Union and the Confederacy.
In this latter-day renewal of hostilities the union is the United Auto Workers (UAW) whose members are mostly employed in Northern states such as Michigan, the traditional heartland of US motor manufacturing.
Union leaders have bitterly denounced Republican Senators from the South for scuppering a $14 billion bailout package for General Motors (GM) and Chrysler which, along with Ford, make up Detroit’s “Big Three”.
Many of those who voted against it represent former Confederate states where foreign-owned car plants have sprung up in recent years and are proving to be more competitive than America’s domestic manufacturers.

(The world-wide recession is intensifying - Roelof)

HONG KONG — A key measure of business sentiment released on Monday foreshadowed more bad news ahead for the Japanese economy, which is already in recession and struggling to maintain competitiveness in the face of a steadily-appreciating currency.
The Tankan survey of leading manufacturers suffered its sharpest fall in decades, and is now at its lowest level in seven years, reported the Bank of Japan, which compiles the closely-watched quarterly survey.

However, the speed of the fall in Japan’s sentiment — the index for large manufacturers plunged to minus 24 from minus 3 in the September survey — also highlights how rapidly the crisis has swept into the Asia-Pacific region in recent months. The region’s export-oriented economies, like Japan’s, have seen demand for cars, consumer goods and IT evaporate in their key U.S. and European export markets, with weak demand at home unable to compensate.

WASHINGTON — Having printed more than $1 trillion in new money since September, yet still failing to stop the economy from sinking, the Federal Reserve (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/organizations/f/federal_reserve_system/index.html?inline=nyt-org) is expected to enter a new era of cheap money this week.
On Tuesday, policy makers are expected to lower their target for the overnight federal funds rate to 0.5 percent, a record low.

Analysts say the current recession, which officially began a year ago, is all but certain to break the postwar record for duration, 16 months. But it could also set a record for depth.

The economy has already lost two million jobs this year. Analysts predict that unemployment, now 6.5 percent, could hit 9 percent by the end of next year.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Colorectal cancer diagnoses and deaths have fallen in the United States this decade, but the gap in progress between whites and blacks is widening, the American Cancer Society said on Monday.
Improvement has come about chiefly due to prevention and early detection through colonoscopy and other screening methods recommended starting at age 50, the group said in a report.
Colorectal cancer, which includes cancer of the colon and rectum, ranks third among all types of cancer in the United States both in the number of people who get it and in the number who die, but rates have been falling since the 1980s.
While death rates were dropping in all groups, blacks were roughly 45 percent more likely to die from it than whites in the five-year period ending in 2005, the report said. The gap was about 40 percent for the five-year period ending in 2001.

It will likely rank as one of the more bizarre episodes of his presidency - George W Bush, surely one of the most protected leaders in history, ducking as two size 10 shoes hurtled in his direction.
The US president laughed off the incident during a surprise visit to Iraq, although it highlighted the lingering hostility still felt toward the man who ordered the 2003 invasion of the country.
The footwear belonged to an Iraqi television journalist, Muntazer al-Zaidi, who jumped up as Bush was holding a press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

"It is the farewell kiss, you dog," he shouted, and threw the shoes before being wrestled to the ground by security guards and frog-marched out.
Soles of shoes are considered the ultimate insult in Arab culture - after Saddam Hussein's statue was toppled in Baghdad in April 2003, many people beat its face with their soles.

There are 2 groups fighting to create a one world government. One is a shadow party working covertly to create a worldwide socialist humanist state. The other is Islam, fighting overtly to create a global theocracy based on Sharia law.

Of the two, only Islam will require Christians identify themselves, and regulates how they can buy, sell, worship (in private) and what jobs they can have.

The Shadow group is using Islam as their "useful idiots", to provide motivation for stripping constitutions and implementing the kind of restricted police states we are expecting. Thats why we see this bizarre relationship between the two. Simultaneously fighting for Muslim rights in the name of diversity while fighting against Christian rights in the name of secularism.

Problem is, sooner or later, these two groups are going to come to blows. Only one can rule. Which one? My theory is that if there is one person we label the Antichrist, this person may be the one who, at the last minute, somehow unites the two opposing forces, and finally pushes the world over the edge.

I'll be looking out for news stories (like this one) that shows how the shadow party uses and relates to Islam.

Having multiple generations living under one roof may take a toll on women's health, according to new research.

In a study that followed nearly 91 000 middle-aged and older adults beginning in 1990, Japanese scientists found that women who lived with their spouse, children and parents or parents-in-law had a higher risk of developing heart disease. They were about three time more likely to be diagnosed with coronary heart disease 15 years later than women who only lived with their husband.

Stunned economists had been expecting the US Federal Reserve to cut the key interest rate to 0.5 per cent

US interest rates were cut to a historic low of virtually zero as America resorted to drastic action in its battle to stave off a crippling recession and deflation.
Wall Street shares soared after the Federal Reserve, the powerful US central bank, stunned markets by cutting interest rates from an already 50-year low of 1 per cent to between zero and 0.25 per cent.

Defectors from the ruling African National Congress opened a new chapter in post-apartheid politics yesterday with the creation of a party that could prove a serious challenger to the ANC in elections next year.
To ecstatic chants from about 4,000 delegates, Mosiuoa “Terror” Lekota, the new party's leader - and South Africa's former Defence Minister - declared Congress of the People (Cope) to be the party of the future. “The history of South Africa will never be the same again,” he told delegates at the official party launch in Bloemfontein, once the bastion of Afrikanerdom, but also the city that the ANC considers its birthplace.

Surgeons at the Cleveland Clinic replace about 80% of her face with skin and muscles harvested from a cadaver. It's the most extensive such operation ever performed and the first in the U.S.

A woman being treated at the Cleveland Clinic has an almost entirely new face following the most extensive facial transplant ever performed, the medical center said Tuesday. The surgery was the first face transplant in the U.S. and the fourth in the world. Few details about the patient have been released in advance of a news conference scheduled for today. About 80% of the patient's face was replaced with skin and muscles harvested from a cadaver.

Meltdown. Collapse. Depression (http://health.nytimes.com/health/guides/symptoms/depression/overview.html?inline=nyt-classifier). Panic. The words would seem to apply equally to the global financial crisis and the effect of that crisis on the human psyche.

The problem was that his sense of success and accomplishment was intimately tied to his financial status; he did not know how to feel competent or good about himself without this external measure of his value.
He wasn’t the only one. Over the last few months, I have seen a group of patients, all men, who experienced a near collapse in their self-esteem, though none of them were clinically depressed.
Another patient summed it up: “I used to be a master-of-the-universe kind of guy, but this cut me down to size.”

Even the Japanese economy feels the pain of the world-wide recession – Roelof)
Honda Motor Co. (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=7267%3AJP), Japan's second- largest automaker, slashed its full-year profit forecast by 62 percent as the yen surged to a 13-year high against the dollar and car sales in North America and Europe plummeted.

The company expects net income of 185 billion yen ($2.08 billion) for the year ending March 31 compared with an earlier forecast of 485 billion yen, it said in Tokyo today. Operating profit (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=7267%3AJP) may total 180 billion yen compared with Honda's previous estimate of 550 billion yen.

The company may report a half-year operating loss for the first time in at least in 11 years, as the global recession cripples sales in the U.S., Japan and Europe. The yen's 26 percent gain against the dollar and 30 percent rise against the euro this year has hammered Honda's profit, forcing it to cut jobs, management pay and withdraw from Formula One motor racing to lower costs.

Mobile phone sales will shrink next year at their fastest pace ever as consumers cut spending, a Reuters poll showed, with analysts increasingly concerned about unsold phones piling up in stores.
On average, the poll of 36 analysts shows global market volumes shrinking 6.6 percent next year and 5.7 percent in the fourth quarter -- traditionally the strongest period for the industry due to holiday sales.
Consumer electronics demand has slumped in the run-up to the key Christmas sales season, triggering the loss of 16,000 jobs at Sony Corp and profit warnings from Samsung Electronics Co and Texas Instruments Inc.
British electronics group Laird Plc, a component supplier for Nokia and others, on Tuesday announced the loss of 5,000 jobs, or nearly half its staff, and said it sees global handset volumes declining 10 percent next year.

A new route of male-to-female transmission of HIV - in which the virus can travel through healthy genital skin to reach immune cells in just four hours - has been identified by US researchers.
It's long been believed that the normal lining of the vaginal tract was an effective barrier to HIV during sexual intercourse, because the large HIV virus couldn't penetrate the tissue. But the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine researchers found that HIV can penetrate normal, healthy genital tissue to a depth where it can get to immune cells and infect them.
"We urgently need new prevention strategies or therapeutics to block the entry of HIV through a woman's genital skin," said Hope. While condoms are 100% effective in blocking HIV, "people don't always use them for cultural and other reasons." –

ROME, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini on Tuesday spearheaded a call by Mediterranean states for greater European Union solidarity on immigration policies, according to Italian News Agency ANSA.
Speaking after a two-day meeting of Europe's ten Mediterranean foreign ministers, Frattini called for the bloc's northern members to help Med countries shoulder responsibility for immigration.
"Europe must start redistributing the burdens of immigration, including the sharing of people," said Frattini.
"There must be an effective division of the pressures of migratory flows into Europe."

After January, for example, France will still chair the new Union for the Mediterranean (UM), set up last summer under the French presidency. The idea, floated by Paris, of regular summit meetings for leaders of euro-zone nations, chaired by Sarkozy, has not taken off - though some diplomats say further meetings are not impossible if the economic outlook worsens.
In some ways, Sarkozy has already forged a legacy. By lobbying for the G20 meeting in Washington in November and setting the stage for a follow-up in London in April, he has created a precedent that his successors cannot ignore. If the global economy continues to deteriorate, his ability as crisis manager might be called on once more.

Democrats on Wednesday were trying to break a weekslong impasse over California's multibillion-dollar deficit by making an end run around Republicans, offering a complicated mix of revenue cuts and increases that they said would raise billions without requiring two-thirds majority typically needed to raise taxes.

Treasurer Bill Lockyer, the board chairman, had warned the Legislature last week that the unprecedented halt in funding would be necessary if lawmakers did not immediately address a $14 billion deficit in the fiscal year that ends in June. The hole is forecast to grow to $42 billion over the next 18 months.

His 2009-10 budget released Wednesday would, among other things, jack up the cost of going to college, downloading music and movies, buying beer and wine, seeing a show or game, even paying the rent.

And as unemployment spikes, the old reliable pipeline of state jobs could dry up because of layoffs and a government hiring freeze, months after New York made a big push to hold on to college graduates.

(Germany will play a major role in the One World Government - Roelof)

Pirates are making headlines. And though their criminal acts might seem to belong to a dim past, they’re revealing some shocking truths about our 21st-century world.

The pirates are hearing that message loud and clear. They have since audaciously attacked an American cruise ship (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28032166/), one of 30 vessels they’ve gone after in just two months. They know good and well America has “no stomach” to stop them.

Biblical prophecy says this is exactly what would happen (http://www.thetrumpet.com/index.php?q=2694.0.86.0).

America’s broken will, however, isn’t the only prophetically relevant revelation emerging from these acts of piracy. It is also worth evaluating what is happening within two other nations in particular: Germany and Britain.
Germany’s response has been almost precisely opposite to America’s. The whole nation is up in arms. It is charging to the forefront of a European Union move to use piracy as justification for dramatically stepping up its naval power.

Last week, Europe’s foreign ministers launched the EU’s first-ever naval intervention, called Operation Atalanta. It is a huge step forward for the European Security and Defense Policy, a major instrument in giving Europe a unified military identity distinct from nato. In fact, Operation Atalanta will take over some of the anti-piracy duties that nato is already doing.

Berlin has approved deploying German warships to support the effort, granting them permission to fire in order to repel attacks.

We’ve been watching Germany milk this same stratagem for years. Using a unified Europe as its cloak (http://www.thetrumpet.com/index.php?q=2106.941.0.0), and pointing to rising global security needs (http://www.thetrumpet.com/index.php?q=2853.1378.0.0)—some of which have been of its own making (http://www.thetrumpet.com/index.php?q=4875.3146.0.0)—Germany has gradually restored its legitimacy as a military power (http://www.thetrumpet.com/index.php?q=4708.2972.0.0). You will be able to continue tracking this trend in the time ahead, as reasons for Berlin to expand its armed forces and increase its deployments multiply.

The prophetic significance (http://www.thetrumpet.com/index.php?page=book&q=1194.6.0.0) of this development won’t be lost on our regular readers, nor even on students of Germany’s military history.

Britain has already been fighting pirates off the coast of Somalia. Its frigate hms Cumberland has been deployed there under the nato umbrella. But it and three other nato vessels will now be replaced by the EU’s Operation Atalanta, which will include Britain’s hms Northumberland.

Gambling, greed and debt: how leveraged-buyout firms like Cerberus, Apollo, Sun Capital and Blackstone changed America forever.

America is now the land of the “junk”-rated company. An incremental but dramatic downgrade in the creditworthiness of corporate America has occurred. Can a nation filled with junk survive an economic crisis? America is about to find out.

It may be time to lash yourself to the mast. If the Wall Street Journal is right, 2009 could change corporate America forever—and not for the better. In a very important article that went largely unnoticed, the Journal reported (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122787886488263965.html) last month that 50 percent of all U.S. companies could be at risk of failure.

Over the past several years, as times were good, businesses loaded up the debt like it would never go out of style. And why not? Borrowed money was making everybody rich—homeowners, stock market investors and commodity speculators, among other indirect beneficiaries.

I tried my utmost to find good news in international newspapers, but it is very difficult, nearly impossible. The most positive good news, which is even today very fresh, can be found in the Holy Word of God:

For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son [Jesus Christ], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (Joh 3:16)

"Behold, the virgin [Mary] shall conceive in her womb, and will bear a son [Jesus Christ]. And they will call His name Emmanuel," which being interpreted is, God with us. (Mat 1:23)

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, (1Co 15:3)

and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures; (1Co 15:4)

Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. (Rom 10:9)

Whoever partakes of My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I [Jesus] will raise him up at the last day. (Joh 6:54)

And I [Jesus] give to them eternal life, and they shall never ever perish, and not anyone shall pluck them out of My hand. (Joh 10:28)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Rom 6:23)

Even if the future looks very dark, never give up:

He [the Lord] shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall trust. His truth shall be your shield, and buckler. (Psa 91:4)

Behold, I come quickly. Hold fast to that which you have, so that no one may take your crown. (Rev 3:11)

Him who overcomes I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will go out no more. And I will write upon him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of Heaven from My God, and My new name. (Rev 3:12)

JERUSALEM – Palestinians fired a rocket at an Israeli city near the Gaza Strip on Friday but caused no casualties, police said, as the Israeli military continued its closure of all crossings into the coastal territory because of ongoing rocket fire.

Early Friday's rocket landed in an industrial zone in Ashkelon, about 11 miles inside Israel, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

Israel allowed a trickle of key supplies into Gaza during a five-month truce with Gaza's Hamas rulers, then shut the crossings after the truce began breaking down Nov. 4 in a flurry of Palestinian rocket fire and Israeli airstrikes.

Do you know if the US will also pull out of Iraq, like the British?

I see us as in the time of Daniel 11:14 - waiting for the robbers to fall.
>by "robbers" - I mean the Palestinians
then Iraq will attack Israel

Along with this belief - I see us as on the third seal of Rev. 6.
The part as to hurt not the oil and wine -
means
prisoners go free
strangers no longer hold the land captive
strangers don't eat the food of the land - ration time is over
the land will prosper again
famine in the land ends
the country begins to trod down her enemies
- or also God will send another enemy against that land's enemies
- also the country that fought Iraq - will now experience troubles of famine and such in her own land - loses prosperity
It means - that this land shall eat - and have enough - and the troubles will come instead on those who attacked it.

I have for years believed this is to happen between 2009 -2010.
Due to Daniel mourned for 21 days in Daniel 10. Daniel saw a vision - then mourned for three full weeks.
I believe that he was mourning due to he was shown the time that happens to Israel before the time of the man of sin - and it lasts for 21 years. Most of that time seems to be over with - actually almost all of it.

30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

Not supporting what Stalin/Hitler/Mussolini or any other Dictator did, but you have to take into account what they accomplished.

All three made their countries prosperous and greatly improved the general standard of living and education.

They all helped their countries greatly, granted only for those who did not oppose them.

But the lesson here is, same will go for the Anti-Christ/Beast figures. They will bring peace, prosperity, etc. and the world will worship them for it. Christian genocide will simply be a necessary evil to most, nobody will care. Sad, but true.

It won't so much be Christian genocide, but simply only Christian's will oppose the Beast. (At least I'm guessing that's the way the Beast will play it. Us being criminals and not wanting to better the world with them.)

Israel's defence ministry sealed off Gaza when it launched an air offensive last Saturday. The Foreign Press Association for Israel and the Palestinian territories, which launched a petition, said the court ordered the state to allow a first group of eight journalists into the Hamas-ruled territory.

i think it gonna go deeper than that. A the Bible says God will send a great dillusion. BEcause it would be easy for Christians to say that they support peace and financial well being. ALl Christians desire this for everyone. So i dont see how they would be able to criminalize us on that matter. Our beliefs have nothing to do with properity imo. I think what will happen will be much deeper and complex than simply saying we oppose peace. Christains are all about peace. Especially peace that comes from freedom to express beliefs in a non-violent manner. I think what will happen is that they will categorize Christian thought to be violent. A we see with pastors who get arrested in some places for saying homosexuality is a sin. Which is dumb, because even though we disagree with the gay lifestyle, we also believe that we are to love them. We are to love even our enemies. If anything it is Islam that is the most violent system of beliefs imo

ARE WE ALREADY IN THE GREAT TRIBULATION?

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy [Jesus] coming, and of the end of the world? (Mat 24:3)
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. (Mat 24:21)

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. (Rev 7:14)

Nowhere in the Bible can I find scripture describing the exact length of the great tribulation, except for the dispensational interpretation of Daniel 9:27, his week seventy and Rev 12:6, the Woman, the Child, the Dragon and 1 260 days.

New Spirit Filled Life Bible on Rev 7:14:

Expressing a continuous and repeated action, not a once-for-all action. Therefore tribulation is to some degree taking place throughout the entire Church Age.
The great tribulation describes the acceleration and intensification of troublesome times as the Church Age comes to and end, climaxing with the Rapture and Second Coming of Christ.

My view point is that the Last Days started in the Sabbatical year 1986/7, with confirmation in 1989 when the World Wide Web was created by Sir Tim Berners-Lee in Switzerland. This led to an explosion of knowledge, fulfilling Dan. 12:4

If we study the fulfilling of the signs for the Last Days, with particular attention to the mocking of the Holy Word, the rejecting of the Virgin birth of Christ, the rejecting of His resurrection, New Age philosophies, liberation theology, the killing and persecution of Christians in India, Asia and many other parts of the world, I am convinced that we are already in the great tribulation.

Tribulation is not a waste of time, nor to punish Christians:

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; (Rom 5:3)
And patience, experience; and experience, hope: (Rom 5:4)

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. (Rev 22:20)

Scripture doesn't say "THE" great tribulation, or "A" great tribulation.... it says "there will BE great tribulation".

When Christians were persecuted under the Roman Empire in the days of Paul, & Peter etc... they were indeed in great tribulation then.

Personally I think there's a misunderstanding, due to inserting a definite article such as "a" or "the".

Make sense?

"The lack of confidence is total," Miguel Angel Fernandez Ordonez said in an interview with Spain's El Pais daily.
"The inter-bank (lending) market is not functioning and this is generating vicious cycles: consumers are not consuming, businessmen are not taking on workers, investors are not investing and the banks are not lending.

NOTRE DAME, Indiana, December 18, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Notre Dame University students participating in the Cultural Diversity Seminar, sponsored by the university's Center for Social Concerns, spent their Fall Break in Chicago in order to be "immersed in the subcultures of the city," a report by the university's student newspaper, The Irish Rover, states.
The goal of the outing was to "increase awareness of the variety of approaches and strategies employed by ethnic organizations, churches and others to improve social conditions."

To this end, the field trip opened with Mass at St. Sabina’s Catholic Parish, known for its "unique restructuring of the Mass" as well as for its pastor, Father Michael Pfleger, who gained national notoriety for supporting Barack Obama's presidential candidacy and for his sermon mocking Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at rival Barack Obama's former church.

Following a tour of the Board of Trade and a "Ghetto Bus Tour," the students were taken to dinner at a homosexual bar called Hamburger Mary's, where they attended a showing of "The Ville," described as "a weekly episodic performance that includes graphic scenes of homosexual activity."

The trip concluded with a session at the Chicago Centre in which "activist Prexy Nesbit" delivered "a political commentary against capitalism" and offered his support for Barack Obama.

An early version of the report, entitled When Worlds Collide, alleges that of the 133 Muslim primary and secondary schools it surveyed, 82 (61.6 per cent) have connections or direct affiliations to fundamentalists. The 133 schools are in the private sector but supposedly subject to Ofsted inspection.
The report also claims that some of these schools teach "repugnant" beliefs about the wickedness of Western society and Jews.

LAST DAYS – IT IS NOT DIVIDED INTO TIME MODULES

Know this also, that in the last days grievous times will be at hand. (2Ti 3:1)

People tend to think of the events during the Last Days and the great tribulation as discrete time event modules, with a fixed start and finish date for each.

I prefer to think of events during the Last Days as key events that are phased in and out over a period of time.

I regard the seven year (final) tribulation as symbolic of a period, without a fixed start date, which might be longer than 7 years, when Christians will be (already are) prosecuted for their faith in Christ Jesus. I can mention India, Ossira, North Korea, or Sudan.

You will never read one morning in the newspapers that the Great Tribulation started at 6am that morning.

And I stood on the sand of the sea, and I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns. And on its horns were ten crowns, and on its heads was the name of blasphemy. (Rev 13:1)
And they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast. And they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with it? (Rev 13:4)

The beast out of the sea will be the final Antichrist, who will have political, religious and economical power over the world, during the time period of the One World Government. The dragon is Satan, who wants to rule the world. Many of the Ten Regions or Unions of the One World Government are already in place.

And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. And it had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke like a dragon. (Rev 13:11)

The beast out of the earth is the final false prophet, who will be (already are) deceiving many church leaders and members into following him. As an example I can mention New Age philosophies and liberation theology.

The false prophet is already visible from the end of the previous century (1986/7 is my view point) and the beginning of this century. Unbelievers are more dedicated to the Evil and believers betray Christ by questioning core truths, such as the Virgin Birth and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. A secular life style forces people to be trendy or mod. (Translated from “Die A-Z van Openbaring,” Jan du Rand, page 435)

I am convinced that we are already in the Great Tribulation.

He who testifies these things says, Yes, I am coming quickly, Amen. Yes, come, Lord Jesus. (Rev 22:20)

House prices plunged by 15.9 per cent during 2008, the biggest annual drop on record, and are set to fall even further over the coming 12 months.

According to Nationwide, the building society, the annual fall is the biggest since it began compiling data in 1991 and means the average price of a UK house is now £153,048 - £20,000 less than in December last year.

The average price of a UK home dropped by a further 2.5 per cent in December, dashing hopes that November's relatively subdued decline of 0.4 per cent marked a stabilisation in the market.

Mr Blair, now a Middle East envoy, said there was a "basis" for an immediate ceasefire if the supply of arms into Gaza from Egypt was halted. But Mr Blair warned of a "more protracted campaign" if firm action was not taken and said the people of Gaza were living through "hell".

I do find references to the GT in the Bible that indicates a very specific time and NOT a general reference to the occurrence of tribulation as such. People and countries experiencing tribulation are not in "the day of the Lord". Read the OT for the term "the day of the Lord" and you will recognize the fact that this is NOT wherever and whenever tribulation occur.

And again in 2 Thessalonians this is very relevant. Paul tells them that the tribulation they experience, must not be understood as if the "day of the Lord" has started. And then he continues to give the signs by which we will be able to tell whether "the day of the Lord" has started or not.

"...we ask you not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.
" let no one deceive you by any means, for that day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
"....only He who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed ...."
2 Thess. 2:1-8

Roelof, just follow what these verses say and you will realize that the GT or the "day of the Lord" or the reign on antichrist or "the day of Jacob's trouble" can not start before the "man of sin" or "the lawless one" has been revealed. Yes, there are many lawless one's and men of sin, but these verses doesn't talk in general terms. It refer the "the" man of sin, the antichrist.

And because he has not jet been revealed, we know for sure that "the day of the Lord" has not started.

And, of course, the restrainer must be removed, which I believe refers to the rapture, but I didn't stress that point here because it is not the topic of this thread and because you and others might not agree that the restrainer refer to the rapture.

(The UM is gaining momentum. A comparison of the current map of the Union of the Mediterranean (UM), with the 395 AD Roman Empire map, reveals that they are very close. I regard the UM as the Revived Roman Empire - Roelof)

The six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has been offered a stake in a new union of Mediterranean and European countries (UM) because of the growing economic and political influence of its member states.
Hans-Gert Pottering, president of the European Parliament, told a press conference here yesterday that the Gulf states should be granted non-voting membership as observers in the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (EMPA).

Rev 13:2. (KJV Bible Commentary)

This verse throws much light on Daniel 7:1–12. There the first beast was a lion (eagles’ wings are added to bring out added truth), namely, Babylon; the second was a bear, that is, Medo-Persia; the third was a leopard (birds’ wings and heads are included to set forth additional truths), i.e., Greece. The fourth beast is not likened to any known animal in nature; hence, it is called the nondescript. Now it is clear why the fourth beast is not named, because there is no beast that combines the features of a leopard, bear, and lion. But the revived Roman Empire will incorporate the features of the preceding three empires. Ancient Rome boasted that no matter how many powers she subjugated in her conquests, she could always assimilate them into her hegemony. That political power is being emphasized here is certain from the mention of his power, and his seat (i.e., the whole earth), and great authority.

Interesting that one main reason is moral decay.

I read the article and the guy sure makes some uninformed assumptions about the U.S.A .

"Mr. Pozner and other Russian commentators and experts on the U.S. dismiss Mr. Panarin's predictions. "Crazy ideas are not usually discussed by serious people," says Sergei Rogov, director of the government-run Institute for U.S. and Canadian Studies, who thinks Mr. Panarin's theories don't hold water."

I think the comment above pretty much sums up the validity of Panarin's claims.

2 Thess 2:1 BUT RELATIVE to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and our gathering together to [meet] Him, we beg you, brethren,
2 Thess 2:2 Not to allow your minds to be quickly unsettled {or} disturbed or kept excited {or} alarmed, whether it be by some [pretended] revelation of [the] Spirit or by word or by letter [alleged to be] from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has [already] arrived {and} is here.
2 Thess 2:3 Let no one deceive {or} beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition),
2 Thess 2:4 Who opposes and exalts himself so proudly {and} insolently against {and} over all that is called God or that is worshiped, [even to his actually] taking his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming that he himself is God.
2 Thess 2:5 Do you not recollect that when I was still with you, I told you these things?
2 Thess 2:6 And now you know what is restraining him [from being revealed at this time]; it is so that he may be manifested (revealed) in his own [appointed] time.
2 Thess 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness (that hidden principle of rebellion against constituted authority) is already at work in the world, [but it is] restrained only until he who restrains is taken out of the way.
2 Thess 2:8 And then the lawless one (the antichrist) will be revealed and the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of His mouth and bring him to an end by His appearing at His coming.
2 Thess 2:9 The coming [of the lawless one, the antichrist] is through the activity {and} working of Satan and will be attended by great power and with all sorts of [pretended] miracles and signs {and} delusive marvels--[all of them] lying wonders--
2 Thess 2:10 And by unlimited seduction to evil {and} with all wicked deception for those who are perishing (going to perdition) because they did not welcome the Truth {but} refused to love it that they might be saved.
2 Thess 2:11 Therefore God sends upon them a misleading influence, a working of error {and} a strong delusion to make them believe what is false,
2 Thess 2:12 In order that all may be judged {and} condemned who did not believe in [who refused to adhere to, trust in, and rely on] the Truth, but [instead] took pleasure in unrighteousness.
2 Thess 2:13 But we, brethren beloved by the Lord, ought {and} are obligated [as those who are in debt] to give thanks always to God for you, because God chose you from the beginning {as His firstfruits (first converts)} for salvation through the sanctifying work of the [Holy] Spirit and [your] belief in (adherence to, trust in, and reliance on) the Truth.
2 Thess 2:14 [It was] to this end that He called you through our Gospel, so that you may obtain {and} share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).
2 Thess 2:15 So then, brethren, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions {and} instructions which you were taught by us, whether by our word of mouth or by letter.
2 Thess 2:16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, Who loved us and gave us everlasting consolation {and} encouragement and well-founded hope through [His] grace (unmerited favor),
2 Thess 2:17 Comfort {and} encourage your hearts and strengthen them [make them steadfast and keep them unswerving] in every good work and word.

I tend to think this is what is the restrainer that is taken out of the way.

Rev 13:1 [AS] I stood on the sandy beach, I saw a beast coming up out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads. On his horns he had ten royal crowns (diadems) and blasphemous titles (names) on his heads.
Rev 13:2 And the beast that I saw resembled a leopard, but his feet were like those of a bear and his mouth was like that of a lion. And to him the dragon gave his [own] might {and} power and his [own] throne and great dominion.
Rev 13:3 And one of his heads seemed to have a deadly wound. But his death stroke was healed; and the whole earth went after the beast in amazement {and} admiration.
Rev 13:4 They fell down {and} paid homage to the dragon, because he had bestowed on the beast all his dominion {and} authority; they also praised {and} worshiped the beast, exclaiming, Who is a match for the beast, and, Who can make war against him?
Rev 13:5 And the beast was given the power of speech, uttering boastful and blasphemous words, and he was given freedom to exert his authority {and} to exercise his will during forty-two months (three and a half years).

As for appointed times,

Dan 11:35 And some of those who are wise, prudent, {and} understanding shall be weakened {and} fall, [thus, then, the insincere among the people will lose courage and become deserters. It will be a test] to refine, to purify, and to make those among [God's people] white, even to the time of the end, because it is yet for the time [God] appointed.

LAST DAYS – MORE LIGHT ON THE GREAT TRIBULATION

And I said to him, Sir, you know. And he said to me, These are the ones who came out of the great tribulation and have washed their robes, and have whitened them in the blood of the Lamb. (Rev 7:14)

There are many interpretations on Daniel, Revelations and the Great Tribulation.

One interpretation is that the Great Tribulation started with the suffering and death of Christ and was further applied on believers in Jesus Christ through all the centuries. (Translated from “Die A-Z van Openbaring,” Jan du Rand, page 311)

From Nelson’s New Illustrated Bible Dictionary:

TRIBULATION — great adversity and anguish; intense oppression or persecution. Tribulation is linked to God’s process for making the world right again. His Son underwent great suffering, just as His people undergo a great deal of tribulation from the world (Rom. 5:3; Acts 14:22). This tribulation has its source in the conflict between God and the devil (Gen. 3:15), which will end with the devil being cast into the lake of fire to suffer eternal tribulation (Rev. 20:10).

THE GREAT TRIBULATION— a short but intense period of distress and suffering at the end of time. The exact phrase, “the great tribulation,” is found only once in the Bible (Rev. 7:14). The great tribulation is to be distinguished from the general tribulation a believer faces in the world (Matt. 13:21; John 16:33; Acts 14:22). It is also to be distinguished from God’s specific wrath upon the unbelieving world at the end of the age (Mark 13:24; Rom. 2:5–10; 2 Thess. 1:6).
The great tribulation fulfills Daniel’s prophecies (Daniel 7–12). It will be a time of evil from false christs and false prophets (Mark 13:22) when natural disasters will occur throughout the world.

"The number of great flood disasters in the 1990s was higher than for three-and-a-half decades, 1950-1984 (Berz, 2001). In the 1990s, there have been 20 floods worldwide, in each of which either the material losses exceeded one billion US$, or the number of fatalities was greater than 1000, or both." Info on worldwide floods though from the book, Water Resources Systems--hydrological Risk, Management and Development By Günter Blöschl. This book was published in 2003. (White Spider)

Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. Matthew 24:7 (New International Version)

The average from 1980-1989 is 108.6 of 6.0+ earthquakes

The average from 2000-2007 is 158. of 6 6.0+ earthquakes

There was nearly a 40% increase in world-wide 6.0+ earthquakes since 1990. (White Spider)

My view point is that the Last Days started in the Sabbatical year 1986/7, with confirmation in 1989 when the World Wide Web was created by Sir Tim Berners-Lee in Switzerland. This led to an explosion of knowledge, fulfilling Dan. 12:4

My interpretation is that the Great Tribulation started sometime after 1986/7.

If we study the fulfilling of the signs for the Last Days, with particular attention to the mocking of the Holy Word, the rejecting of the Virgin Birth of Christ, the rejecting of His resurrection, New Age philosophies, liberation theology, the killing and persecution of Christians in India, Asia, Ossira, North Korea, or Sudan, and many other parts of the world, I am convinced that we are already in the great tribulation.

He who testifies these things says, Yes, I am coming quickly, Amen. Yes, come, Lord Jesus. (Rev 22:20)

LAST DAYS – THE DAY OF THE LORD

Woe to those desiring the day of Jehovah! What is this for you? The day of Jehovah is darkness and not light; (Amos 5:18)

For this is the day of the Lord Jehovah of Hosts, a day of vengeance, that He may avenge Himself of His foes. And the sword shall devour, and it shall be filled and made drunk with their blood, for the Lord Jehovah of Hosts has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates. (Jer 46:10)

From Nelson’s New Illustrated Bible Dictionary:

THE DAY OF CHRIST — the period at the end of time when Jesus will return to claim faithful believers and members of His church as His own (1 Cor. 1:8; 2 Cor. 1:14; Phil. 1:10). A related concept, Day (1 Cor. 5:5), focuses on God’s judgment against unbelievers.

THE DAY OF THE LORD — a special day at the end of time when God’s will and purpose for mankind and His world will be fulfilled. Many Bible students believe the Day of the Lord will be a long period of time rather than a single day—a period when Christ will reign throughout the world before He cleanses heaven and earth in preparation for the eternal state of all mankind. But others believe the Day of the Lord will be an instantaneous event when Christ will return to earth to claim His faithful believers while consigning unbelievers to eternal damnation.
Amos 5:18–20 is probably the earliest occurrence in Scripture of the phrase, “day of the Lord.” According to Amos, that day would be a time of great darkness for any in rebellion against God, whether Jew or Gentile. The day would be a time of judgment (Is. 13:6, 9; Jer. 46:10), as well as restoration (Is. 14:1; Joel 2:28–32; Zeph. 1:7, 14–16; 1 Thess. 5:2; 2 Peter 3:10).

Long Beach, California - Astronomers may have solved a cosmic chicken-and-egg problem - the question of which formed first in the early Universe - galaxies or the supermassive black holes seen at their cores. "It looks like the black holes came first. The evidence is piling up," said Chris Carilli, of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO).

The ratio of the black hole and the bulge mass is nearly the same for a wide range of galactic sizes and ages. For central black holes from a few million to many billions of times the mass of our Sun, the black hole's mass is about one one-thousandth of the mass of the surrounding galactic bulge.

The New Testament also uses very strong language when dealing with homosexuality. In the book of Romans, it is described as uncleanness, vile affections and a lust of the heart. Those that practice homosexuality dishonor their body. This act is condemned in the strongest terms. The person with the homosexual drive is described in the Bible to have: "burned in their lust one toward another." Homosexuals do not have the love relationship that a man and woman share for each other. They have what the Bible describes as a “burning lust.”

Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves
Romans 1:26 “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: (27) And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.”

The Scriptures indicate that when a person engages in homosexuality it is an indication they are under God’s judgment. The judgment is described as, "God gave them up." This happens when a person is in deep rebellion against God. This rebellion manifests itself in homosexuality which would then cause God to give them over to this act. They can be sealed into homosexuality.

A homosexual can repent and trust Jesus Christ as Savior just like any other sinner; however, those that are in deep rebellion against God and not just caught in the power of this sin are given over to it. There is a huge difference between being under the power of sin and being given over to it in judgment by God. A homosexual that is not a reprobate is one that knows the act is wrong and is under condemnation.

Many Arabs are rooting for Israel to rout Hamas.
You read that right. As the international community, with predictable unanimity, demands that Israel immediately stop defending itself against the rain of rockets on its people, some Muslims, deep down, want to see the Jews give the terrorists in Gaza a good sound thumping.
Who are they? The Egyptian government. Other “moderate” Arab states. Even Iranians (Persians, not Arabs) who yearn for change.
They all want this for the same simple reason: because Hamas’s survival would be a victory for Iran—and Iran needs to be put down.
These Arabs have watched with concern as the Hamas-Iran relationship has blossomed over a period of years.

(Rev 13:4)

(The beast out of the sea will be the final Antichrist, who will have political, religious and economical power over the world, during the time period of the One World Government. There are six main developments that bear watching in respect of the rise of the European superpower in 2009:

Nato will convene its 60th anniversary summit in April 2009. France and Germany have offered to jointly host this important summit that could well decide the future role of nato in the wake of America’s progressive collapse. The city of Strasbourg in France and the nearby German town of Kehl are the planned venues.

In May, Pope Benedict xvi will visit Jerusalem, a city the Vatican has coveted from its earliest history. Ever the master diplomat, the pope will tread a fine line between the Israeli and the Palestinian approaches to a peace settlement. Prophecy indicates that his hand will be strengthened in preparation for the Vatican to be established in Jerusalem in the future, if only briefly.

In what is billed as the biggest transnational election in history, 496 million European Union citizens will elect 736 members to the European Parliament by proportional representation in the European parliamentary elections in June 2009. Watch for a lift in the number of Roman Catholic and right-wing candidates elected to Parliament.

German federal elections are slated for September 2009. On present indications, Vice Chancellor Frank-Walter Steinmeier may end the reign of Germany’s only postwar female chancellor, Angela Merkel. Steinmeier is worth watching considering his relationship with Russia’s Prime Minister Putin and close friendship with former Chancellor Schröder, who holds a senior position with Gazprom, one of Europe’s major suppliers of energy.

The Irish, forced into a second referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, will hold that vote in October 2009. If it follows the same trend as the second Irish vote for Monetary Union membership, it will return a yes result, thus releasing the treaty for enactment in 2010. This would have tremendous implications for Europe’s rise to superpower status in 2010, with its own president, foreign minister and diplomatic corps.

The sixth likely event to watch for in 2009 is the fall of Ukraine. Caught between Russia bearing down on its eastern flank and its aspirations for security within the EU receiving the cold shoulder from Brussels, a deal between the EU and Moscow on Ukraine’s future—given its importance as both a gas transit venue to Europe and a food basket for Russia—is inevitable. Will it be carved up between the two, or will it fall to Russia in concession for an EU deal over energy? Perhaps 2009 will be the year of the decider.

Many other important events will occur in Europe this year, but from all indications, these are the six most worthy of watching from a prophetic standpoint.

Following the outbreak of warfare between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Jews around the world are facing an increase in anti-Semitic attacks. As Israel tries to defend itself in Gaza, anti-Semites elsewhere are taking the opportunity to attack Jews.
In one of a spate of anti-Semitic incidents across France, attackers rammed two cars packed with gasoline bombs into a synagogue in the French city of Toulouse (http://www.ejpress.org/article/33350) on Monday, causing the building to catch on fire.

(This is the perfect means into an One World Economy - Roelof)

Oberservers may well have taken Russian Igor Panarin’s predictions of America’s impending collapse with a grain of salt. After all, he’s been at it for decades. The Russian academic’s prediction that the United States would collapse in 2010 must have seemed so laughable to those whom conservative commentator Ann Coulter has termed the “former frat boys who populate Wall Street” as they guzzled their champagne, swaggered around town in their German saloons funded by annual bonuses of indecent proportions, participating in the shameless mass robbery of millions of clients to the tune of multiple billions.

But then came the day when, as the Wall Street Journal declared recently, “Wall Street died (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123051066413538349.html?mod=testMod).” That day, declared the Journal, was September 14, the day the U.S. government refused to bail out America’s oldest investment bank, Lehman Brothers. The rest, as they say, is history, and very bitter history it is proving to be.

One month later, under the headline “The Collapse of America’s Service Economy (http://www.financialsense.com/fsu/editorials/schiff/2008/0418.html),” Peter Schiff of Euro Pacific Capital wrote, “The foundation of our bloated service sector economy, supported by overseas savings and production, is now giving way. … It is all part of the process of an unprecedented decline in America’s standard of living, which is the inevitable result of years of living beyond our means.

I don't think we are in the tribulation yet but we are very close. The apostsy has already begun big time, with the emerging church, etc. But the man of sin has not been revealed.

(This is avery dangerous situation for the integrity of churches. I am leaving my own Reformed church because they approved "selibate" gay elders and ministers - Roelof) New Jersey, January 6, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A New Jersey Christian group has lost a case against a lesbian couple who brought the group to court for refusing to rent out their oceanfront grounds to the pair for a civil union ceremony. The New Jersey Division on Civil Rights on Monday ruled that the Methodist Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association had violated the public accommodation provisions of state anti-discrimination laws. A remedy has not yet been settled.
I agree that this is a very dangerous situation for our churches, Roelof! I hope you will soon find a church that upholds the Word of God faithfully and that doesn't bow to the pressure of the world to disobey Scripture.

Hi, Roelof! It is interesting that Vladmir Putin has ordered natural gas supplies cut off to Ukraine over a "pricing/debt dispute". I understand that this is having a tremendous effect on other European nations, because the pipeline goes through Ukraine to reach them. So in effect, Russia has cut the gas off not just to Ukraine, but also to the other nations who rely on the pipeline. There is a fierce winter going on over there now, and I have heard that several people have died because of the lack of heating gas. Some feel that the decision to cut off the supplies is an effort to undermine Ukraine's EU membership. Some nations are beginning to call for a pipeline to be made to run through Turkey in order to bypass Ukraine.

Hi, Roelof! While I would never be adamant about this, my suspicion is that we might be in the days of the 1st Seal of Revelation (Revelation 6:1-2). "I looked up and saw a white horse. Its rider carried a bow, and a crown was placed on his head. he rode out to win many battles and gain the victory." I won't name my suspect, because I know that we are not to do that in the Forums, but I have been watching someone come to power in the world who has been receiving much applause for his handling of many global crises in this last year. I believe the actual 7-year tribulation time will begin with the confirming of a covenant of peace, but I suspect that the 1st Seal (and even possibly the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) could come before that covenant is made. Of course, this is all guess-work on my part, so I have to put in a little disclaimer here. If I am correct, though, the 2nd Seal (Revelation 6:3-4)could be soon approaching, if not already begun. "And another horse appeared, a red one. Its rider was given a mighty sword and the authority to remove peace from the earth. And there was war and slaughter everywhere." Could we possibly be seeing the start of this with the current Gaza/Israel war? Could it cause a tremendous world war? Again, I don't know and can't be adamant. We'll have to watch carefully and see what comes.

Transcripts of phone calls by the terrorists during the Mumbai seige have been released.

Evil, pure evil.

"We have three foreigners, including women," one gunman said into the phone. The response was brutally simple: "Kill them." Gunshots then rang out inside the Mumbai hotel, followed by cheering that could be heard over the phone.

My view point is a phasing in of key events
I support your remark in bold, that key event is the next one to watch very closely

I have not studied the fulfilling of the 7 seals in current history yet.
Your remarks is in line with my view point that key Last Days events can not be confined to disctrete time modules. There are overlaps and phasing in.
I agree we must watch the Gaza conflict very closely
We all must pray and be ready

Hi, Roelof! It is interesting that Vladmir Putin has ordered natural gas supplies cut off to Ukraine over a "pricing/debt dispute".

It appears to me that Europe lost 25% of their energy supplies, which are very tough / hard for them in the winter now.
