I've been researching what exactly does being born again mean for my 500th post.

These characteristics are from the Gospels alone, though I am working on the other books for what is someone who is born again, our actions, characteristics, promises, etc...

This should give us a baseline when we say "someone is born again if...or is....

So, without further ado...

Someone who is born again is:

1. saved from their sins (Matthew 1:21)

How about

1 A new creature in Christ...old things have passed away all things have become new.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
(2Co 5:17)

2. Born from above.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
(Joh 3:3)

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
(Joh 1:12-13)

Thank you and there are many more that stick out to me.

#5, 6, 12, 16, 18, 21, 26, 32 and 33.

I'll have more on this as I compile them. I have 171 different ones just going through to 1 Corinthians. I'm trying to categorize them.

That righteousness not being our own.

That righteousness not being our own.

Agreed! These are characteristics of being born again.

That means that when you become born again, this is what you will be.

For instance, if you become a dog, you will walk on all fours, you will be furry (for most kinds), you will pant, you will not sweat. Etc...

They have these characteristics because they are dogs, they are not dogs just because they have these characteristics.

You have the above characteristics because you are born again, you are not born again because you have these characteristics.
