MARRIAGE

There is no marriage ceremony in the written scriptures – neither were the churches given the authority to marry. Marriage is a walk of faith between a man a woman and God. The tradition of men has made it a contract between a man, a woman and the judge. And if you don’t believe this – just ask the judge. A marriage contract cant bring a man home from the nearest bar – but love and faith can bring him home from across the sea. Marriage in the scripture is - whom God hath joined together. by mans tradition they make the word of God of non effect. He who walks by more then faith is in bondage. Few are able to walk by Faith.

Jesus first miracle was performed @ Cana where a wedding celebration was taking place. That indicates to me that there was at least some kind of ceremony, and one that Jesus did not find offensive.

Marriage s a covenant\contract has it's roots in scripture.

Exo 22:16 "If a man entices a virgin who is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall surely pay the bride-price for her to be his wife.

If a man wanted to divorce his wife he was required to give her a certificate of divorce.

Deu 24:1 "When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house,

Paul made it clear that the marriage was a matter of Law.

Rom 7:2 For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband

Hi Benaiah!

What of those who were joined together, before the law came in?

Hi Benaiah!

What of those who were joined together, before the law came in?

The "bride price" pre dates the law, Abraham sent his servant laden with gifts to fetch a bride for Issac, Jacob labored for Laban as his bride price.

So there would seem to be elements of "Contractual" obligations early on, the bible is silent however on how or if divorce was regulated at that time.
