Purpose of the forum

This area is for specific Bible studies, in other words looking at some aspect of the Bible in detail. Whether you study a specific book in detail or a specific subject drawing from multiple books of the Bible is up to you. We welcome people starting a study but all threads are pre-moderated. That means your new thread won't appear until it has been approved by a moderator.

Starting a new Bible study

When you start a new thread please use the first post to mention what you are looking to do with the study. Because all the moderators are volunteers it may take a little time for it to be approved. If it seems to be taking longer than you might expect feel free to start a thread in Chat To The Moderators (http://bibleforums.org/forumdisplay.php?84) to remind us it's there.

Running your Bible study

If you start a study with a specific subject please stay on subject.

If your study is a large one, it may be best to break it down to several threads in order to keep up with it. This isn't a requirement, it just often makes it easier to follow. If a thread should run to over 1000 posts it will be broken into two threads.

External sources of information

Usage of external sources (e.g. Bible notes) is acceptable but they should be cited. They should also be used to support your study rather than taking up the bulk of the study. In other words, the majority of your study needs to be your own work rather than work taken from other peoples' notes. Cutting and pasting Bible studies from other sites is not accepted.

Posting links

If you post a link to an external site it must have a description so readers will have a reasonable idea what to expect if they click on the link. This allows people to make an informed decision whether to click it or not. "Check this out", "I can't believe this" etc are not considered descriptions. If you post links without descriptions they will be removed. Links to commercial sites and to other message boards are not permitted and will be removed.

Prohibited topics

If you are here to debate the validity of prophecy, scriptural accuracy, Bible Versions or to show the superiority of one version over another, or start a Eternal Security debate, please don't. We have areas in the forum for that... this isn't it! Furthermore, if your thread is a bible question rather than a study, please start it in Bible Chat (http://bibleforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=7).

This section is not an opportunity to bypass the rules of the board. If your study involves teachings from Word of Faith (W.O.F.), Seventh Day Adventist (SDA), Jehovah's Witnesses (JW), Latter Day Saints (LDS), any non-Christian religion, such as Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Wicca, etc., or Catholic-specific doctrine please do not start that study here. These are to be contained in the World Religions (http://bibleforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=46) forum.

Note for new members

Please post to some of the threads out on the board to learn the ropes and please don't forget to post a thread in the Introductions (http://bibleforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=19) area. If your Bible Study thread is the only one you have started on the board, or you have 50 or fewer posts, your study will not be approved.

Inactive studies
If a study becomes inactive it may be archived. This will not happen for at least one month from the last post, but after one month it may be moved. If you see a Bible Study in the archive (http://bibleforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=130) that you would like to continue on, please start a thread in Chat To The Moderators (http://bibleforums.org/forumdisplay.php?84) to request its return.
