I believe that the following scriptures are self explanatory regarding what God does when he forgives our sins.

Ps 103:12 (http://bibledatabase.org/cgi-bin/bib_search/bible.cgi?BIBLE=48&BOOK=19&CHAP=103&SEARCH=jesus king lord&Read=Read&FIRST=OK&HV=12) As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Is 38:17 (http://bibledatabase.org/cgi-bin/bib_search/bible.cgi?BIBLE=48&BOOK=23&CHAP=38&SEARCH=jesus king lord&Read=Read&FIRST=OK&HV=17) Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

Zech 3:3 (http://bibledatabase.org/cgi-bin/bib_search/bible.cgi?BIBLE=48&BOOK=38&CHAP=3&SEARCH=jesus king lord&Read=Read&FIRST=OK&HV=3) Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
Zech 3:4 (http://bibledatabase.org/cgi-bin/bib_search/bible.cgi?BIBLE=48&BOOK=38&CHAP=3&SEARCH=jesus king lord&Read=Read&FIRST=OK&HV=4) And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

Is 6:7 (http://bibledatabase.org/cgi-bin/bib_search/bible.cgi?BIBLE=48&BOOK=23&CHAP=6&SEARCH=jesus king lord&Read=Read&FIRST=OK&HV=7) And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

God bless!

Would I get in trouble if I mentioned that, technically speaking, if you went all the way west you'd get back to the place you started? :spin:

Would that not mean that our sins have not been taken away, and that our sins are not behind God, or that our garments are still filthy?

Only from the perspective of the finite. From Gods perspective they are infinitely separated or eternally separated as it were.

But your Sins would still be as half a world away from you, wouldn't they.

That troublesome International Date Line.

:D

I'm just kidding people. It's a poetic statement implying an infinite amount of distance. M-O-O-N, that spells infinite, everybody knows that.

Does the same phrase apply to darkness and light, with regards to the following?

Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

1 Thess 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Ps 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

God bless!
