Proofreading is a dying art, wouldn't you say?

Newspaper headlines:

Man Kills Self Before Shooting Wife and Daughter

This one I caught in the SGV Tribune the other day and called the Editorial Room and asked who wrote this. It took two or three readings before the editor realized that what he was reading was impossible!!! They put in a correction the next day.

I'll tell on myself--

Some years back I was the church secretary (pastors' secretary) and the senior pastor asked me to send out a letter to all the members. It was a letter from the Church Board to the membership. Okay, no problem. I typed it up, spell checked it, and asked the treasurer to proof it for me just to be sure. No problem seen. Then, I got a call from a Board member's wife wanting to know who the Church Broad was....well.....ummm....

The sad fact is since so many young people are 'texting' their messages today they deliberately say things like 'plz' get back 2 me and so on. But even sadder, they have taught grown-ups to do the same thing! Not only do they NOT proofread, but they are forgetting how to spell too.

But things like you showed in your examples really IRK me when I read things like that either in papers or the streaming news written at the bottom of CNN and other news stations! I'd give those people one more chance, and fire them if it happened again!
