Numbers 10:29 And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.

Genesis 36:9 And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:
10 These are the names of Esau's sons; Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau.

I'm simply trying to prove a point about something on another board. But before I do, I need to find out if the above is correct or not.

I dont think they are the same due to the elapse of time between Esau and Moses. what was the point you were making ?

1 Chronicles 9:8 And Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, and Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of Michri, and Meshullam the son of Shephathiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah;

What about this verse then? Would this be the same Raguel as in
Numbers 10:29?

The point I was trying to show has to do with the following.

Judges 4:11 Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.

I was just trying to show where Kenites descend from, since some think it was from Cain's line, even tho Cain's line was wiped out in the flood. Heber the Kenite would be of the children of Hobab. Which then led me to the following.

Numbers 10:29 And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.

Here we learn that Hobab was the son of Raguel. Now to just determine whom Raguel was the son of. Once I do that, it should be easy to prove that Kenites descended from one of Noah's sons, which would mean from Seth's line, not Cain's.
