What is the difference between the works of the flesh as described in the bible and demonic influences, or christians plagued with demons? I am reading a book called, "Pigs in the Parlor" by Frank and Ida Hammond. They desribe all these demon spirits or what they consider demons. But also in the New Testament it talks about the works of the flesh and some of those that they call demons in the book are considered in the bible works of the flesh.

Works of the flesh are merely the sinful desires of the corrupt/fallen human nature. I would be extremely careful when it comes to 'blaming' any sin on the influence of demons. The Bible makes it abundantly clear that an act of our own sin tainted will is more than enough to get us to succumb to temptation.

Jas 1:14 . . . But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.
Jas 1:15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

Paul gives examples of these 'works of the flesh' in Galatians.

Gal 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
Gal 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
Gal 5:21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gal 5:23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Gal 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

That is what I thought too. I was just asking whether there was a difference as I saw it noted in their book. They were listing different names of the demons and it seemed like it was just similar to some things I had read in the same chapter in the bible that you stated.

thanks for responding.
