Urgent Prayer Alert for Israel

Dear Johnny,

I am taking this extraordinary step of issuing an Emergency Prayer Alert – because of a “perfect storm” of critical events that are lining up against the nation of Israel.
The next ten days are crucial to the Jewish state: Not only will the United Nations be voting on the recognition of a Palestinian state, but the anti-Semitic Durban III Conference will be held in New York City as well.
U.N. recognition of a Palestinian state would have serious economic, political, and military consequences for Israel. Most troubling is the insistence that Jerusalem be the capitol. This would divide the Holy City, and the proposed borders for Palestine would leave half a million Jews homeless. Observers expect as many as 140 nations to vote in favor of unilateral Palestinian statehood at the U.N. General Assembly meeting. This will create intense international pressure on Israel beyond anything we have yet witnessed.
Then, the Durban III Conference is an opportunity for the world to again condemn Israel as a racist nation. The first Durban conference, in 2001, was a hotbed of anti-Semitism by those who hate the Jewish state, and this third edition promises to be no different.
As if these two major issues were not enough, there are numerous other threats looming over this tiny nation:

Hezbollah has 70,000 rockets and underground concrete bases on the Lebanese border.

Hamas has a detailed infrastructure in Gaza firing rockets daily into Israel.

Egypt continues to erupt as the Muslim Brotherhood spews its venom toward Israel. The Israeli embassy was attacked by a mob last week and forced to evacuate personnel to Israel.

Turkey has expelled the Israeli ambassador and closed the Israeli embassy. In addition, they have threatened to send warships to break the Gaza security blockade.

I wish I could reassure you that the U.S. would be standing strong alongside its friend Israel in these critical days – but our President and his administration are “cool” toward Israel – and in fact have been applying enormous pressure on them to compromise. I have to tell you that I believe this puts the U.S. in a dangerous position in light of Genesis 12:3. We WILL pay a price if we desert Israel in their most critical hour.

Today I’m asking you to do four things:
1. PRAY—Join with us in urgent prayer for the peace of Jerusalem and the safety of Israel. This is the most serious threat Israel has faced since the Yom Kippur invasion of 1973.
2. TELL—Please forward this email to your friends and contacts and encourage them to join with us in prayer as well. We must not fail to support the Jewish People at this critical juncture. Click here to forward this email (http://jvmi.convio.net/site/R?i=4Rjwl1fjI_FAvEFsNBaWOw).
3. LEARN—Go to our home page (http://jvmi.convio.net/site/R?i=gis9369eFnlOHA5XbMZafQ) to watch an important video so you understand Israel’s legal right to this Land and the true facts.
4. GIVE—If you want to give an extra gift to those ministries and outreaches we support in Israel – please click here (http://jvmi.convio.net/site/R?i=kQBzni7TyL_LWpMiXsn8Pw). With a gift of ANY amount, I will send you a copy of my latest book Is Peace Possible?
Thank you for your special attention. Please take steps two, three and four as you feel able – but I urge you: No matter what else you do, PLEASE PRAY!

To the Jew first and also to the Nations,
Jonathan Bernis

Thank for for the prayer request, Johnny. May God shine His blessings down upon you.

Here is a prayer for the IDF that we say in synagogue every week-

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob -- may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Forces, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our God, from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May the Almighty cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighters from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under our soldiers’ sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is the Lord your God, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you. (Deuteronomy 20)

Now let us respond: Amen.

Praying for the protection of the Lord's people, the preservation of what little is left of His land . . . and that the Jews will turn to God in repentance and faith.

Toda. Thank you very much for the 2 of you who supports this request. Next week will be critical. The world will forsake Israel, and it also look to me that even on this christian forum they do not have much support.

Yes Hunter, but it is not only the US that are guilty. At the end the whole world WILL turn againts Israel. It is prophecy and will be fulfilled.

Thank you for your very informative post. I will certainly pray for Israel to not be divided. That is my duty. However it seems from Scriptures that this is going to happen soone or later, bringing woes to the world. I agree with someone who also is praying for the Israelis. So many have followed in the corrupt & decadent path of the USA instead of sticking truly to YHWH's Word.

Scriptures show YHWH bringing judgement on Israel through pagan nations when they turn from Him to the ways of the world, but then it shows their enemies being destroyed afterwards while a remnant of the Jsraelis, at least, always survives. That's just one reason I pray for Israel - I don't ever want to be counted as her enemy!

Thank for for the prayer request, Johnny. May God shine His blessings down upon you.

Here is a prayer for the IDF that we say in synagogue every week-

I hope you won't be offended by my saying this. I think that is a great prayer but Solomon was also told "If my people Who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land."

It seems to me one rarely hears either believers in Yeshua or Jews calling for repentance and boy do we need it.

Like the USA (and I fear for this country too for sure) Israel is big on abortion, aggressive homosexual activism, pornography...well, you know. He has given us a formula for how to get His help. We have to get rid of the uncleanliness in our "tents" to be able to defeat the enemy. The whole world, too, all of us collectively & individually.

Agreed, but they are STILL God's chosen.......no matter what they do. God does have an appointment with them in Israel and they are going back by the thousands (Aliyah) for their appointment with God during the 7 year Tribulation.

Rom 3:9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Rom 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

The whole world stands guilty before God!

My heart beats in sync with Israel.

This is off-topic, but sometimes I wish they would bomb the heck out of their enemies.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love you. (Psalm 122:6)

This Friday could begin to shake the World!

“And take not the word of truth (D’var Emet) utterly out of my mouth; for I have
hoped in Your judgments.” (Psalms 119:43)

All eyes will be on the Middle East this week as the Palestinian Authority president
Mahmood Abbas defies the United States and Israel by seeking recognition of
Palestinian statehood from the United Nations Security Council.
In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he will
also visit the UN this week to oppose the Palestinian initiative in light of the fact
that Palestinian statehood should be achieved through negotiations.

Again, I am not trying to offend, but...Forgiveness is not repentance, or teshuva. I hear Christian Ministers sometimes misquoting the Bible & saying "If we confess our sins He is faithful & just to forgive us our sins & cleanse us of all unrighteousness." But the accurate translation is "If we turn away from our sins...."

We need forgiveness and protection...and repentance.

And oh yeal - since none of us seems to get it all right, mercy. ;)

Paul made it clear that YHWH is no way finished with, or given up, on the Jews. Nevertheless, just like everyone else on the planet earth, they have to repent of their sins. In fact, "Much is expected from those to whom much is given".

Again, I am not trying to offend, but...Not sure where you are going with this. Do you find it...improper...to pray for Israel?

Israel is in my daily prayers. What I am saying is that if Israelis (this is true for Americans & everyone) really want to not be taken over by pagans then they need to follow the advice in Scriptures. The advice is not simply to ask for forgiveness (though that is good and needful too) or simply to pray for protection (though that is good and needful too) but "If my people who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways
then I will hear from Heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land."

I am saying that I think Israel needs to turn from its wicked ways (which to a large extent is following after the pattern of the USA) and give up abortion (slaughter of the innocent is one of the things that always brought judgment down on the Israelis in Scriptures), pornography, homosexual "rights" legislation & so on.

I am saying that both Rabbis & pastors should be asking for people to pray for repentance in their nations because if repentance doesn't happen, disaster will. I believe I'm saying what Scriptures say.

Well shucks. I guess I can see your point and you get to do things here as you choose. But it seemed to me I was making - and defending - a prayer request. I was making the prayer request that people pray not just for Israel to be protected from division, but that Israel (ditto the USA) repent. Is there any believer who doesn't think we have a huge amount that needs to be repented for, or that YHWH won't bless us for doing so?
