I need prayer for my husband...he's having a rough time lately. Since before Thanksgiving, he's had extremely loose bowels, not much energy at all, and he's lost a bunch of weight...too fast. I kept telling him, "We need to make you an appointment with the doctor." And he kept reminding me he goes on Dec. 15th and he'd wait till then.

But then, he started looking real yellow, Jaundiced looking! Over his objections, I called our doctor. He went in this morning after fasting after midnight, and ended up having to go through all kinds of tests...lab work, ultra sound, cat scan, drinking that chalky stuff, even an IV ... We were at the hospital all day. Left about 9:30 this morning and got home about 5:30 this evening. (Our doctor actually brought him a plate of food into the examing room afterward! We were concerned about his not getting to eat all day since he has diabetis 2. They brought both of us a plate with homemade chicken salad on homemade wheat bread, baked homemade chicken nuggets, and all kinds of cut up fruit. We'd never had a plate of food in an examining room at the doctor's office! Our doctor feels like part of our family. He's a very concerned person and really caring.)

Bill has an obstruction where his liver/bile duct enters the small intestine. The hospital in Knoxville is to call us tomorrow to tell us if he goes Monday or Tuesday to have the 'scope' down his throat, all the way to the obstruction to try to find out what it is. Our doctor and both of us are VERY concerned. VERY. The doctor said there is no indication at this point that it is cancer, but he's going to find out as fast as he can.

We've been married over 54 years and dated a year before that. Please pray this is something that can be gotten rid of easily. He is so jandiced looking.... Its troubling. We really appreciate each prayer!

Praying that you both experience the Peace that passes all understanding that only the Lord can give, at this stressful time; that you have a clear and accurate diagnosis regarding the jaundice and loose stools, and the best possible treatment regarding the obstruction.

- hoping the loose stools and fatigue are nothing more serious than a reaction to things he is currently eating. . . one of my problems related to food supermarkets treat 'fresh' food with.

Father God, I lift up Bill and pray that this problem will be diagnosed very soon and there will be a good permanent fix. Help his body to work and that he can gain strength before he goes for more tests. Protect his family and give them peace and wisdom. In Jesus most holy name I pray,

UPDATE:
Well, we're both worn to a frazzle. They ended up keeping Bill 'overnight', but then they kept him also on Tuesday night and we finally got home today about 5:00 in the evening. On Monday, the doctor put a shunt into the duct where the 'obstruction' was. It turned out the liver duct was not allowing the liver to do its job because it was a 'constriction' problem and not an 'obstruction'. He had more tests on Tuesday and they found cancer cells.

Then today, he had a biopsy. They found a 'mass' atop (or a tumor) on his adrenal gland, 2 spots on the bottom of one lung and one spot on his pancreas. They went in through his back and got the sample for the biopsy. Now we are home, waiting for the results to see where the cancer originated, and how they can treat it. We know already they can't just go in and cut all that out. That means chemo and/or radiation. They just have to see where to start, and they have to start at wherever it originated.

So, we do appreciate the prayers. We really do! May God bless each person who is praying and may He bless each of you DOUBLE for praying for Bill........

Do they know for sure its cancer? Adrenal masses are commonly benign and many people have tiny spots on their lungs for various reasons.

Dear Lord please let this not be cancer. If so, we ask that you would remove it from his body. Amen.

I am so sorry to hear of this cancer dear sister, but we really do serve a God of miracles, I am testimony of that. I was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2003, it was in my kidney and in my lung. Doctors gave us little hope, but unbeknown to them, my glorious Father had numbered my days, and no cancer was going to change that!!

I am praying for His all surpassing peace to engulf you, Bill and your family at this time. More than that, I am praying for healing, for I KNOW that our God is bigger than any cancer!!!

UPDATE:
First I want to thank all who are praying for Bill and I pray that God blesses you DOUBLE because you are praying for him. And me.

They found out what kind of cancer it is. It is called a Neuroendocrine tumor. The doctor said its an unusual rare cancer and its very slow growing. He said its most likely been in Bill's body for a long time (probably for years), but just now causing the symptoms because it has spread. He has an appointment to see a cancer specialist on Monday January 9th at 10:45 am and the doctor will tell him then what treatment options are available.

Since they put the shunt in his liver duct he IS feeling and looking a lot better. His bowels are back to normal, his urine is no longer black coffee colored and his skin is not yellow any more and we really do thank God for that. Also, we are thankful to God that this IS a very SLOW growing cancer! (They probably would not have found it IF his liver duct had not been constricted and nearly closed off. So we even thank God that his problems with his bowels and urine color and his skin coloring led them to find the cancer.)

He dreads the chemo and/or whatever treatments he's facing because any cancer treatment seems harsh to our bodies, but we both made up our mind to enjoy Christmas and OUR FAMILY for now...and we really have! I sincerely thank you, each and every one of you, for the prayers!

Considering all things that sounds like good news, a friend of mine went through chemo and it didnt seem to bother her to bad. Hopefully if your husband has to go through it he will not get sick, that is our prayer and for your strength through the process, bless you.

Thank you dear sister for updating us! I am so glad you are enjoying the Christmas season and that your resting in the Lord for now. He has it all under His control! As for whatever treatment might be needed, I agree with Michae, many people go through chemo with little side effects,so don't think Bill has to be sick with it. Chemo doesn't work on the cancer I have had, I thought they were giving me a death sentence when they told me that, but in the end, it was a wonderful blessing! The Lord was in control, just as He is in your situation!

Continuing to pray

I want to sincerely thank everyone for the prayers! The doctor had a long talk with us today, and gave Bill the option of 1-walking away and saying, "I'm not going to do anything. 2- Wait for farther tests to be run and THEN start chemo. Or 3- Go ahead and chemo as soon as possible and then when all the test results are in and studied adjust treatments if necessary. Bill chose to go ahead and begin his treatments as soon as possible, and start his battle.

The doctor went ahead and PUSHED his testing to try to find the source, the beginning point, which they think it started in his lung where there are a couple of nodules. The doctor said it is carried in the blood stream and it can be likened to a dandelion. The dandelion won't spread in the wind until the seeds reach a certain point of growth. Then, like a dandelion, there are certain places where the seed won't grow where it lands...like on a concrete sidewalk. Likewise, this kind of cancer won't grow in certain areas, like joints. But it can spread to 'softer' places like that adrenal gland on top of his kidneys. It also likes the soft liver and things like that. But, none has spread to his liver. Thank God!

So his best option is to go ahead and begin the treatment that is known to seek it out and attack it where its has spread or is trying to. We have a son in Medical and he is at the hospital where Bill had to go to see the doctor. He is a Physicians Assistant. He knows the cancer specialist, so he came over to sit in with us. Our other two sons went with us today also. And I think, since everyone there knows our son, I think it was due to knowing him that the tests all got pushed through today. That's best, because NOW he won't have to be making several trips to have the MIR on his brain, the bone scan, and the other test he had done today.

Its been a LONG day and we are tired, but please pray that the chemo is a success. He's dreading the chemo, of course.

And, may God ABUNDANTLY bless each of you who are praying for Bill and me!

I know the our Lord is walking with you through this time and He has His arms around the both of you. Even in sickness God loves us and gives us the strength to endure the trial. I can't tell you the number of times i questioned why a child would have to suffer, a parent with multiple children spending holidays in the hospital or why some prayers seem unanswered. It is at times like this that God reminds me that mine is not to question or reason but to pray. So, on this note I join with you and others in praying for Bill, yourself and your family. Trust in the Lord always even in the midst of this trial.
