My Bible Study – Christmas Dedication

Amongst all the business and stress in preparing for Christmas festivities, I thought it would be a great time to do a Christmas bible study, a dedication to our Lord Jesus Christ, the one whom the holiday is about.

*Red text are my notes *

The Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, of Nazareth.

(Mat 1:18 KJV) Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

(Mat 1:19 KJV) Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

(Mat 1:20 KJV) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

(Mat 1:21 KJV) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

(Mat 1:22 KJV) Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

(Isa 7:14 KJV) Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

(Mat 1:23 KJV) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

***

(Luke 2:4 KJV) And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

(Luke 2:5 KJV) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

(Luke 2:6 KJV) And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

(Luke 2:7 KJV) And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

In our modern materialistic world, I was thinking, seriously father God, couldn’t you even have provided a room in the inn. Where is the provision? Could you not even have arranged a room in the inn for your son to be born?

But the scripture records no complaints from Mary or Joseph. But instead there were celebrations:

(Luke 2:8 KJV) And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

(Luke 2:9 KJV) And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

(Luke 2:10 KJV) And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

(Luke 2:11 KJV) For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

(Luke 2:12 KJV) And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

(Luke 2:13 KJV) And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

(Luke 2:14 KJV) Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

And the book of Isaiah records:

(Isa 9:6 KJV) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The birth of Jesus is one of the most important events in the history of mankind. Jesus the savior of the world was born. He was the one whom God sent to forgive mankind of their sin. God provided a way for all men to receive forgiveness of sin and obtain righteousness if they chose to do so, through repentance and belief in his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
