Some thoughts concerning this verse:

Genesis 22:12 Then he said, “Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from me.” 13 Abraham looked up and saw a ram[c (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Gen+22&version=CSB#fen-CSB-561c)] caught in the thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son. 14 And Abraham named that place The Lord Will Provide,[d (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Gen+22&version=CSB#fen-CSB-562d)] so today it is said: “It will be provided[e (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Gen+22&version=CSB#fen-CSB-562e)] on the Lord’s mountain.”

I'm wondering, thinking about how many have said they pray, and pray but God has not answered nor provided. And all the while, God HAS... but the person does not see, or overlooks the answer or the provision because they have NOT YET acted obediently to God's will?

Then, when they DO act in obedience, they then "see or receive" the answer or provision.

:hmm: Are prayers going unanswered, is God not providing... maybe we need to "be fearful" first, do what God says to do... then the answers and/or provisions will come!!

This seems to go with another thread about this verse. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God. Rom 13:2

We need obey. There is a song that says, seeing us through God's eyes. It doesn't matter how we see ourselves, but how God sees us.
Until we realize our own problems is our disobedience or not identifying Gods power, the problem is us.

When God first came to Abram, he told Abram to leave Ur and his family, and go to a place He would show Abram. Terah, took Abram and his family and started out towards Canaan. Then they settled in Haran. After Terah died, God spoke again to Abram and said for him to leave his family and go to a land God would show him. So Abram took Lot and went to Canaan.

Then, the Lord came to Abram and said "Abram, do not fear, for I am your exceeding great reward". What on earth does a man who just beat 5 kings and was in covenant with the greatest king have to be afraid of? Well, Abram answered and said to the Lord, that God had not given him an heir. Abram was afraid of not having a family. Through it all, he kept taking family with him.

Then it came to a point, where God told Abraham, to offer up Isaac his son, his only son, whom he loved. When Abraham did this, God said to Abraham "Now I see that you fear me". Thus, Abraham was moved from being afraid of not having a family, to being afraid of not having the Provider of Families. The Lord provided Isaac to Abraham and Abraham knew God would raise him from the dead if needed.

God is dealing with me about this very thing. To learn to trust God... to be more fearful of being out of fellowship with God and all His provision than being without the provision for a little while. Too often I have desired the golden egg of the Lord, when Jesus is in fact the Goose that Lays Golden Eggs. It is easy to seek His hand but better to seek His face. When we seek His face, we have His hand. And like any good husband and father, He longs to provide for us. But He does not wish to be used but He does desire to be loved and enjoyed.

Thank you for the reminder Ken. (Oh, and check out the meaning of Terah and Lot in the Hebrew. Eye opening.)

Abraham had to identify that he heard God and obey.
