Here are three pics that are my favorites while in Iraq...

This is a little girl who was standing along a wall as we were leaving an Iraqi Police Station. I took the picture as we drove by from the turret of our HUMV.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h82/Slug1_2006/LittlegirlinSalmanPakIraq.jpg

This picture is of one of our terps getting the chance to fire one of our weapons.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h82/Slug1_2006/TerpshootingM4.jpg

This picture is of one of a POB (Public Order Brigade) soldier who is a RPG gunner. He was walking by on an early morning mission and due to the low light the image is slightly blurred as I panned with his movement as I took the shot.

mosey, you know you're my favorite photographer on the planet. You've got the Norman Rockwell touch. They're all wonderful!

slug1... your photo's stir a lot of emotion. The little girl is beautiful. The look you captured on her face... how do I say it? It's why we're there. Her eyes are too old and it breaks my heart. But it gives me hope too. Because you were there and you cared.

mshake, those are great. I like the vantage points you used. Can you load your favorites onto your computer?

Can't wait to see everyone elses. Get busy people!

Oh what impressive stuff. Thankyou to all:hug: My knowledge of this area is somewhat different. I like to use diferent my own decorating tekniks.. these are mostly images from the internet and what the english call stipling. I like to transfer the images to peoples walls by paint work. Often I will take a photo of something and experiment with it. Every now and again I will get a private customer who is willing to pay for this kind of work, But those are few and far between:rolleyes: Anyway its still fun to do. All one needs is a projector to project the outline of the image on the wall. there is a bit of artistic teknikk too,But thats something one gets better at with practice:)

I noticed a three d picture in here. Thats something I might try on a wall.
Sorry i cannot post my wall decorations.

I was so impressed by the 3d horse I went up the road to take some of English bluebells in a wood - but now can't insert them. How did you do it?When you are typing your post, click the icon that is labeled "insert image" (it looks like a picture of a mountain). A box will appear that asks for the web link to the picture. The picture can't be on your computer but it must able to be accessed on the www.

There is some way to submit pictures to this site but I haven't figured out how that works.

God Bless!

you can use photobucket.com and load them to that site and they give you a link you copy and can paste into the image thing on here and then you have your pictures!

I wouldn't like to work somewhere like penny's, I only do a little posing, but really when I do a photo shoot, I take the kiddo's outside and just follow them around, suggesting great places to sit and such.. I spend about an hour or so with each kid and try to make it fun! I love the more artistic looking ones of kids doing natural kid things! I just snap as fast as I can go, usually take about 30 to 40 or so pictures and let the parents pick the ones they like best... I always have my favorites too though!

You are very tallented with a camera, I could see you doing it for a living! I've been watching everywhere for neat tree's to take pictures of for you!! I found one with a cross carved in it and I'm planning on going back on a cloudy day to get a shot of it for you!

Here is a picture I took today as I ate lunch. I had the seagulls fighting besides my truck, then this one was bold enough to walk around ON my truck :lol:Is that a fry thief? I like the perfect shadow on the hood. Great snap!

God Bless!

WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! Those are some AWESOME photos, Editor. I kept saying THAT one is my favorite. But then the next one was my favorite too, and the another one and another one.

I was gonna tell you my favorites but are just too many that are my favorites. If I HAD to narrow it down to just 3 favorites I'd say the one with the rays of sunlight w/ the tree trunk, the cool dog, and then either the thistle, the racoon, or the raindrops on the window.

Wow, those are some pretty good photos you're all posting! I'm a bit tempted to put up some photos of my own, just to see if you think they're any good, but I'm more of a drawn/digital artist. I might post a few things I've done for the sake of it, though this seems to be more of a photography thread. But really, you all are pretty good photographers! I love all your pictures so far!

Well, I visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway yesterday morning and then spent the rest of the day at Rib America in the city. Here are some pics I took. I wish I could have gotten closer for the band shots but I just zoomed in from where I was standing about 75 meters from the stage.

Here's the Hall of Fame at the Speedway...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h82/Slug1_2006/2Sep06IndyMuseum.jpg

The first band to play that I saw was Jimmie Van Zant...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h82/Slug1_2006/2Sep06JimmieVanZantBand.jpg

Then one of my all time favorite bands, Blackfoot. They put on an AWESOME show and played all my favorites...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h82/Slug1_2006/2Sep06Blackfoot.jpg

Then Molly Hatchet took the stage. They were OK, not a big fan but they did play the one song I really like, Fall of the Peacemakers...

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h82/Slug1_2006/2Sep06MollyHatchet.jpg

Last to perform was The Charlie Daniels Band and this OF COURSE was the most entertaining show of the night. He was great to see live and was happy to see him perform all his greats and even a gospel song... How Great Thou Art... He sang it solo, just him and his guitar but when the band kicked in with the electric toward the end, I had chills... What a great version for this song!!! :pp

Here's a pic that is signature Charlie...

That mushroom one is great except for that branch in the upper right. I played with it but can't crop it to where it looks good. That is where a remote flash is a good thing. I need one of those and some filters and lenses.

There's those blue eyes, Chic Rag-Doll!

My hair color used to be exactly the same color as yours when I was a teenager. In fact, yours and my colorings, (eyes, hair, skin) are basically the same, except now my eyes are very patriotic (red, white, and blue) due to excessive internet usage. And since I have so many gray hairs, I have to color, and I've gone a little darker than my natural shade.

Ok now I'm depressed.

Just kidding! :)

Great photos!

for a little more you can get a D70 and upgrade your software to a D70s, you'll have more features. there are also the newer ones, but they cost a pretty penny.

here's the link to my Webshots page with photographs of my artwork I have done over the years.

http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/186904760VVgmgp (http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/186904760VVgmgp)

I am so proud that after a long dry spell I began painting again this year---a New Year's resolution that I actually followed through with. It helped that I joined an adult ed watercolor class which was also a very fun social scene. Some of these paintings are copies of Birthday cards I created for people this year---another thing that I had always meant to do but didn't.
It's so liberating to not just talk about doing cool things but to actually DO them.
I am looking into submitting some of my work to be produced in a professional format so please pray for this venture.

Nice watercolors, Lithuanian Lovely, and it's clear your having such fun with it!! It's a challenging medium, one I'm taking a bit of a break from but will get back to it soon.

All the work here is amazing - God gives us such awesome subjects!! I love to paint God's creation; animals, plants, landscapes. My primary subject is actually horses, but wildlife has become more of a focal point lately.

What great timing for me to discover this thread, I just finished one tonight that I've been muddling through for a couple months now. I'm calling it done but reserve the artistic license to rework and touch up till I'm truly satisfied :spin: ! The pic was taken at night, so the colors aren't super accurate - I'll get a better one tomorrow.

I used to draw a long time ago when I was a teenager. I took a couple of drawing classes in college. I never went further or developed it because around that time I was getting married and having babies, and, well, life happened. :)

I do have a deep respect for and admiration of artists, though! Are you familiar with Diane Romanello? I enjoy her work. I have one of her prints in my living room.

I've seen Diane Romanello's work, it's lovely!! I will let you know when I post the finished piece (can take as little as a week or more than a month). I have been a compulsive sketcher since I was young, and like you marriage and kids initially slowed me down - luckily my husband is also and artist (we met in art school), and about 5 years ago got me all new art supplies for Valentines day - the best gift ever!! Since then I've been a paintin' fool!

Well I took some photos of a pond I found in the woods while training here at Atterbury. I angled the pics so the reflections of the woods along the banks are shown on the water. Plus to two dead trees in the middle of the pond...

Tonight, well earlier in the night I attended a concert by Montgomery Gentry. I was given the chance to meet them in person. Once they discovered I was a soldier they asked to shake my hand and called me and my partner, Heros. I was really humbled by this.

Here is a pic when they signed my ball cap and 2 pics from the concert. I wish the lighting was better and I was about 100 meters away from the stage so I had to zoom in... they still came out OK.

Dear G.G.G.,

Ah! So you've been to Hawaii! :)

I recognize that tree as the Banyan tree in Lahaina, Maui.

I'm not recognizing the hotel, though. I assume they were from the same trip, is that right? If so, it must be in a nice bay since your view is of a very closeby land mass, (which is too close and too developed to be Molokai or Lanai) presumably the opposite side of the bay. Am I right?

I finished the copper kettle piece, it only took a week which is probably a new record for me (while also working nearly full time). It's not the best pic because it's taken at night, affecting the colors somewhat. I'll get a better one tomorrow with natural light - which will also help illumintate any areas where touch ups are needed - and I guarantee they are there  .

I have done professional photography and extensive color darkroom work.
I make outrageous money from my photographs. I can not upload them here but I can provide you with some links. Using links is a faster way to view images. And they can be much larger than the ones posted here.

A word to all..."fantastiK" images ... I went on a whale hunt with Eskimos in 1982. I had a camera and 50 rolls of color film. I was so fascinated to see how these people live and survive by gathering their own food, especially the amount of work that goes into just GETTING food.

Living out on the ocean ice for two months no tents for the hunters, sleep outside at 50 below zero for month after month!!

I developed the color film but I had no running water, None. I had to melt snow for 6 months to mix chemicals and such and I had to come up with a new way to wash negatives without having running water.. all I had was snow!! 23 years later these negatives are in pristine condition

http://www.majikimaje.com

AND FOR all the artists out there.. if you want the experience of a lifetime. enter the world of 3D Studio Max

I drew a desk in 3d this is sorta what my desk looks like. This is not a photograph http://majikimaje.com/bdesk.jpg

I would love to see people use 3d to re-create bible Scenes we wish we could actually view and animate !!:confused :note: :help:

I sure hope to hear from some members of this fantastic forum!! God bless you all In His Name.. eh ? Mosey ?? 4 kids eh?? I am a single parent that has successfully raised four sons all my byself!!

While I was in Jerusalem,

Using a Nikon Cool Pix 5700.

I was learning alot on shooting at the time, so these photos are not up to the par I wanted.

Currently I am using a Canon EOS 10D so I am expecting better results from that.

At the Wailing wall some soldiers came to pray, looked interesting them praying with weapons.

1) This pic is of one of the workers that was painting at a school I contracted to be rebuilt.

2) This pic is of a man I saw at a Kurdish camp we visited often.

3) This pic is of a little boy at the Kurdish camp. It took me about 5 minutes to get him to come close to me. I had to bribe him with the piece of candy in his hands.

http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h82/Slug1_2006/KurdishBoy.jpg

4) Finally I present Tulu, she was my adopted daughter while in Iraq. She was also at the Kurdish camp. I first met Tulu while passing out candy to the kids that kept mobbing me. I noticed her standing in the back ground patiently waiting. I handed her a piece of candy and she was the only kid to Thank me. We were instant friends and I gave a little extra to her and her family everytime I visited the camp. She was also the only kid that would give me candy in return

Thats cool...I couldn't play an Elder Scrolls game on Xbox because of the lack of mods and what not. The mod community is what keeps the game going.

Heh..I remember when Arena was "new" and Daggerfall was the greatest (and still is) RPG of all time.

Here's one of two cats I've been working on. Aside from some quick watercolor portraits a year ago, I haven't ever really tackled cats. This is the first one, it's "MD" (mostly done) because it will need some touch ups, but being oil I have to wait a day or two for this layer to dry. I'm working on the other cat today, and might have it done (or MD ;) ) this afternoon! These are done in a looser style than some of my paintings, it just seemed to fit.

The way I do it is by using my account I created in Photobucket.com. Once I load the image into my album there I then paste the img tag here in a thread that I post and it will then show full in the post. I usually resize all my pics to the demensions of 640x480.

I love that bird... is it a great blue heron? Little rusty on my birds... especially water fowl, which are not too common in the desert.

Berean - hello, fellow Arizonan!! Beautiful pic of Sedona!

As far and the images, the difference lies in what feature you use.

The thumbnails come from using the manage attachments feature towards the bottom of the Reply window, which allows you to upload a pic from your computer (nice for those that don't have them online anywhere) or the web.

The full size images are from when you use the "insert image" tags (the yellow box with a sillouetted mountian amongst you're formatting tools menu) around a url where you're image is online.

At least that's how it seems to work in my experience, hope that helps!

It was taken from Schnebly Hill Road above Sedona, Arizona. I have more pic's of this and other places. But, it may also be my browser that is causing some of the problem.

I will upload more and be satisfied with the thumbnails. At least I know someone click on it!!

People are asking how to get full size pics, so here's a good way.

Go to imageshack dot com and upload your pics to them. Then they give you a link to it, then come back here and click on the little mountain and sun up there ^ and put the link in there. And you are done.

A good idea, though, is to make your pic around 500 pixels wide or so. That's about the average size for most people's monitors.

I faced the biggest challenge of my life. It was 50 below zero w/ 60 mph winds. I had a 35 mm camera, tripod and I was 3 miles out on the ocean ice on a whale hunt with Inupaq Eskimo's in Point Hope Alaska.

when the whale hunt finished I had to develop myself 60 rolls of color film. I had NO WATER !! I had to melt snow.. for months to obtain the necessary precious water to mix chemicals, develop and (WASH??) film, and print the color enlargements myself.

How do you wash color film when you have no running water ??

25 years later, these negatives are in "pristine" condition. You can see the results. http://majikimaje.com

I was offered $100,000 for the "rights" to this image in 1983. I declined

I make more than that.. .. each year off this unique collecion!!

I have never attended any schooling for photography, yet I have taught pros and Kodak offererd me 10 million in 1973 when I submitted something that was considered impossible to do. Their reply was to get it patented and if you succeed we want it!
you can't patent what was soon to become "common" knowledge!
Take a roll of color film and shoot images @ 100 ISO now, same roll, start to shoot @ 400 iso, same roll. start shooting @ 800 iso.. develop the film and every image is "perfect" !!! ???
I am very impressed at all of the images on this thread.. I wish I could address each one individually, SPECTACULAR, is the best word I can come up with!!!

I live in a place where the ocean is frozen 9 months out of the year!!

We live from the animals in the sea and on the land and in the air.

Are they taking to long to download or something. I can put say 3 per post. That last one had a bunch.

I just uploaded about 25 more pics to photobucket. I just need to post them in here. I'm gonna do themes of Iraq and the first will be the children. Some of the pics I haven't posted yet.

I just had Cheech visit the page and she can see them. I've got some PM's about them also. I wonder if it has something to do with your settings but since it's both IE and Firefox, I don't know.
