1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.enSun, 22 Sep 2019 16:49:04 GMTvBulletin60https://bibleforums.org/images/misc/rss.pngBibleForums Christian Message Board - Growing in Christ
Confused about the right kind of hope?
Thu, 05 Sep 2019 13:03:39 GMTHello...I've been thinking about my hope recently and stumbled across several devotionals on hope. Let me first say a few things...I'm thankful for where I'm at currently and what God has provided for me so far in life as far from a "fleshly" standpoint (i.e., material things, pretty good health, etc.).
However, I keep thinking about my current and near future situation and wonder if I'm doubting whether I'm even supposed to have hope in things of this world. i.e., I would like to move to a new city when my lease is up. I'm still single and pray for a wife, I'm still working at my job and pray it leads me into some other work. However, I don't even know if it's right to hope these things will happen even through prayer because they may not happen. What's the point of getting my hopes up to have them crushed? I'd almost rather not expect anything and be pleasantly surprised if it does happen. That may sound a bit negative, but just speaking my mind. Would like to hear some input on this topic as I'm a bit confused. And, of course, I do hope for the day when I get to meet Jesus....Just wondering about whether hope for these earthly things is even worthwhile!

Tue, 03 Sep 2019 17:59:48 GMTHi! I'm wondering how Christian law enforcement officers live out their faith on the job, and what they've learned. I'd love to hear examples or stories.
Some specific questions in my mind:
What has God taught you through the job and the people (public, agency, inter-agency) you work with?
You have a lot of contact with elements of society that don't respect rules or other people: how do you try to get through to them? What's worked and what hasn't?
How do you decide what deserves a penalty (fine/summons) and what doesn't?
How do you decide how much verbal and physical aggression to accept before you... assert your control of the situation? How does your faith influence that decision?
Self care: how do you keep a good attitude about work and people?
