How do young earth creationists reconcile the fact that light from the most distant of sources has traveled millions of years to earth if the universe is only 6000 years old or so?

Re: Star Light & Age of Earth

The Bible doesn’t date the earth.

A 6000 year age is a false, urban myth.

The age of the Earth is irrelevant.

What is important, is the age of eternity, and
where and with who, we will spend it.

The assumption that light speed is limited to 186,000 miles per second. It may be locally due to interstellar dust, gases and gravity but not necessarily in the intergalactic void. Scientists have been able to slow light to a full stop and accelerate it to 300 times it's normal speed. That being said Andromeda being 2 million light years away at the conventional speed of light would only be 6700 light years away at 300 times that speed.

Sounds like a late April 1 prank.

But perhaps you can mention the source.

In the first planck length of time, the universe expanded to 90% of it's current size, so that makes the speed of light slower than a slug (relatively).

Those who seek God with all their heart will find Him and be given sight. Those who seek their own agenda will remain blind.

                There's at least three explanations:

                A) Light has not always been a constant, and is slower now than it was at the big bang.
                B) God created the universe in "adult form" as He did with other parts of creation like Adam and Eve.
                C) The "6,000 years" is only an estimate of time since Eden rather than the whole universe. (I'm in this camp)

Who said light has travelled for millions of years to the earth? The same people that suffer under the delusion the man evolved from amoeba? The same people that preach global warming?

Ultimately, who will you believe? God or men?

Genesis 1 doesn't support YEC. The planet Earth existed, yet was formless and empty at the beginning of creation week. If you are a Bible literalist like me, biological life was created recently, but Genesis 1 claims the earth already existed (for an unknown time period) before creation week.

There is no contradiction between an ancient universe and ancient earth, and Genesis 1 which describes the recent creation of biological life forms.
