    Exodus Chapter 33 verse 11 says god speaks with moses face to face and a couple of verses later it says he has his back turned on him and that he can not speak to him face to face can anyone clarify.

    "the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend"
    describes how
    "Thou canst not see my face"
    is not describing how the LORD spoke, but actually seeing the full glory of God

      It simply means that they were close. An idiom if you will.
