  • The Doctrine of Soul Winning

    Correct me if I'm wrong
but the only way a soul can be saved
is it has to be redeemed?

And even then you must be born into the kingdom of God by water and Spirit.

But yet I hear people say they are winning souls for the kingdom.

    Are they deceived?

Absolutely not . Read Romans 10 vs. 14-15. Man doesn't technically win anything... that's simply a term for gathering God's harvest. We are called to be a witness and to spread the Gospel of Christ through out testimony, and through this testimony, some will be saved. Baptism doesn't save. Faith in Christ from hearing His word is what saves.

When people say "winning souls" it's usually just another way of saying:

He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins ... (Colossians 1:13)

So synonymous with like "rescuing souls." Although it's important to remember we aren't the ones actually doing the winning/rescuing - that would be God through Christ. Sometimes that can be forgotten when the phrase is used too casually.

Well said. And intriguing that souls can be successfully invited to Christ.

No. Proverbs 11 / 30 tells us "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves souls'

It's a biblical term for preaching to the lost and seeing souls converted. It's not something to be overly concerned with ( the wordage). One should be more concerned about actually winning the souls of the lost than the terminology. Would you not agree ?

This you have quoted to me was written long before Jesus came to Earth in the flesh. Jesus is the Redeemer and every soul that is saved must be redeemed. Therefore how did anyone win souls to the kingdom without a Redeemer?

They were won to the full counsel of God and thus to the coming Christ.

"Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David." Isaiah 55:3

Salvation was preached in the Old Testament, and Christ's coming and saving mission was foretold.

Not many would doubt that, certainly

Why don't you cut to the chase and enlighten us on the position you are wanting to advance ?

That evangelism is null and void under the new covenant ?
That it isn't the responsibility of the church to advance the Gospel to all nations ?
That man doesn't have the ability to be a witness ?

                              Which is it ?
