  • Does Satan not know what is written in the bible?

Satan seems to be just a pawn that God uses to accomplish His purpose.

Use Judas Iscariot for example. It was written in Zechariah that Christ would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver, and that was written long before Jesus was born.

If Satan really wanted to thwart God then how did he not see this coming when he caused Judas to do exactly what was written?

Does Satan have no concern that his end is written in Revelation?

Many people think God is hard to understand, but understanding Satan is impossible!

He might be insane and delusional...so he may not understand or care what scripture says plus God may force him to do things that fulfill scripture and Satan might think it was his ideas to do them. He may also be satisfied with so many people going to hell with him that he doesn't even care about losing...like a suicidal maniac.
James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Let me ask you this, does the devil have a choice in what happens on Earth, or does God?

It all boils down to his pride... it will always be his undoing.

          Hi Ri Chasu.

Yes I agree, since satan's fall he is used as a pawn to accomplish God's goal of bringing glory to His name.
But, man too (although loved by God) man can also be seen or classified as a pawn used by God to lift up and glorify His name to the rest of His creations.

And as Slug1 has already mentioned here, satan is blinded by his own pride.
Or as ewq1938 has already cleverly surmised: satan is a suicidal maniac, fuel by hateful pride, like most lower echelon terrorist are.

The motive of satan is revealed in scripture as irreconcilable blind hate, blind hate for being caught in pride's trap. Caught up in his own trap, caught up in his own lies to himself.

Yeah, so now satan wants nothing more or less than to lie to, steal from and destroy as much of Jesus's kingdom as he can before Jesus returns.
....Scripture says that we do not even know the motives of our own hearts, let alone know the motives of the heart's of our fellow man.
But by man now knowing satan's motives through what scripture says, that knowledge we have about satan is probably why satan despises man more than he despises the rest of God's creations.
Especially despising the one's who have 'obediently' received God's sacrificed Lamb.
....So I think that the blind hateful fruit of pride is why satan will not be effective in interfering with God's already revealed future plans, and of course satan not knowing the day nor hour probably keeps him second-guessing a lot too.

In summary: I think you are attributing more powerful abilities to satan than he can actually muster in his eternally fallen state.
Don't seek too much knowledge. You just may be putting more weight on your shoulders than you're able to bare.

Here is what scripture says about it, IMO:

1 Cor 2:1 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, 4 and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

            6 Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; 7 but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; 8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;

If Satan had understood that the crucifixion of Jesus would have led to his downfall, he would not have sanctioned it and done it. Keep in mind that Jesus called those who crucified Him "brood of vipers" over and over again. Psalm 22 says the "bulls of bashan" surrounded Him at the cross. We even see continually, where Satan tried to temp Jesus to save Himself (turn this stone into bread, you saved others save yourself), to elevate Himself, (throw yourself off this temple so everyone can see if you are who you say you are), and to take shortcuts by worshiping another (worship me and I will give you all the kingdoms of the world). Unable to get Him to sin, Satan then killed Him.

But had Satan (the ruler of this age according to many scriptures) understood the hidden wisdom, God's wisdom in a mystery, he would have never crucified Him!

Proverbs 25:2 says "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings to search it out." God will hide things in the scriptures but those who want to rule in life will search them out. Hidden things can only be revealed through the Spirit and the Spirit does not reveal these hidden things to Satan. As the passage we continues we see that Paul says only through the Spirit and comparing spiritual with spiritual can the hidden wisdom of God be revealed.

1 Cor 2:10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, 13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.

Utlimately, in all his blind pride and hatred, the enemy cannot search the heart of God and know what is in the Father's mind or heart. Only the Spirit can do that. And the Spirit is our teacher. He teaches us as we search out the word, comparing/combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. In the end, Satan finds himself used by God to accomplish God's purposes all the while trying to resist the kingdom, he actually furthers it! Imagine the rage that grows and torments as this realization and pattern is repeated over and over and over again with Satan.

            God bless!

            Matt 9:13
13 "But go and learn what this means: ' I DESIRE COMPASSION,AND NOT SACRIFICE,' for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

I agree. Satan can probably only understand scripture to the extent that God allows him to. He knows the scriptures but doesn't understand. For example, if he had understood all the prophecies in the Old Testament about Christ, he wouldn't have "entered into" Judas. Satan thought he would win if he could cause Christ's death (see Luke 22:3). Ha!

It is not so hard to understand Satan if we simply recognize that his thing is all about *opposing* God's word. That means he may know what God's plans are, and some of what God can do. But he also understands that God has given freewill to angels and men such that what God would like to happen does not always happen. So he has supreme confidence that he can change the outcome of the intent of God's word, and does. What he does not properly recognize, however, is that God is able to resolve all of the difficulties of sin, and bring opposition to an end.

Satan was left with no choice , Jesus Christ had to die . Satan could not allow Jesus Christ to continue his ministry , Satan would have lost his foothold in this world . It is quite possible Satan knows the Bible very well , but does he believe it ? And Satan does not have the Holy Spirit to reveal the meaning of the scriptures to him .

We do not need to under estimate our enemy Satan .
